For over 40 years Hertfordshire Music Service has successfully delivered musical opportunities to generations of young people throughout the county. The service is now one of the largest in the country with many thousands of young people involved in our weekly musical activities, supported by over 450 teachers. We receive funding from the Department for Education through the Arts Council England, as well as generous support from Hertfordshire County Council to provide world class music tuition to the residents and families of Hertfordshire.

Music theory is the understanding of how music works. It's knowing why certain. music makes you feel happy, or why the soundtrack in action films makes the visuals so much more exciting. It's also an integral part of any music student's learning journey. For years it's been packaged as a boring set of rules which must be learned simply to pass an exam, but we aim to change this. Most music students will already have some knowledge of music theory, so each of our students receive a unique course plan which only covers topics they haven't already learned. On top of this, every student is paired with their own personal music theory tutor who supports their learning throughout their time on the course. More than a memory test Our aim is to teach our students to understand the logic and process behind every topic, rather than simply memorise lots of data to pass an exam. We know that the more deeply something is understood, the less likely it is to be forgotten.  Regular feedback to keep you on track Even with the best intentions, buying workbooks and downloading worksheets can't guarantee that the work will get done. As soon as we know what your goal is, we aim to help you get there in the most efficient time possible. Your tutor will set you work for each week and we will send you reminders when work is due.  Less pressure on instrumental teachers As a lot of our tutors are also instrumental music teachers, we know how hard it can be to fit music theory into a flute/trumpet/violin lesson, and we think that your instrumental teacher should be able to give their full attention to helping you improve on your chosen instrument. The Youth Development Academy gives students the opportunity of studying Foundation Studies in Art Design, Media and Music online and to give students studying courses a similar experience to those who study at physical college/university. These are pivotal qualifications that provide a transition from general education to specialist study in Art design Media and Music. The courses seek to equip its students with all the necessary skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence to be able to make a strong application to study art, design, media, or a music degree at a university in the UK.

Youth Development Program in Lamar, MissouriChildren are bused by Lamar schools to The Louis & Loretta Wolf Building and join trained staff in activities such as puzzles or group reading. A nutritious snack is followed by outdoor activities. After outdoor play, the After School staff assists with homework and for those with no homework, library books are provided, as well as coloring or drawing activities. The day ends with free play time and fun activities. An expanded schedule of similar activities is offered when school is out for full or part days.

Specialising in music, movement and mindfulness we take a different approach when introducing children to music. We feel passionately about children experiencing their environment and themselves mindfully and at their own pace.

Our mission is to give hope and opportunities to children and young people in West London, so they fulfil their potential and leave prepared and excited for adult life. The Avenues team of youth professionals provides a safe, caring, youth-led space in a disadvantaged inner-city area, where young people can learn, develop and build towards a brighter future. Open-access after-school and holiday programmes take place in our purpose-built youth centre in North Westminster. Activities encompass sport, healthy cooking, music, art, dance, radio, skills development and career pathways. Delivered by our experienced team, the work is child-centred and promotes enjoyment, collaboration and individually tailored support towards personal development. Young people are encouraged to become volunteers, participate in social action, and to use their voices to share their ideas, opinions and needs, which in turn helps us shape the youth programmes. We are committed to the highest quality of youth work and in 2021 we were awarded the Gold Level London Youth Quality Mark. The Avenues is one of London's leading youth centres.
