Welcome to Gillian's Riding School Gillian's Riding School is a popular riding school in Enfield, North London. There is a place for every rider at Gillian's as we are open 7 days a week and have a variety of horses to ride suitable for all levels, including disabilities. We cater for lessons from 4 years old and up and 15 minute pony rides are available for younger riders. Regardless of your ability we have horses, ponies and instructors that will be perfect for your level. From beginning to advanced, we are here to help. We have Just built a brand new Indoor arena and have 2 outdoor arenas. All of our Arenas are floodlit allowing you to book a lesson time that suits you. We boast excellent woodland riding facilities with a large arena and summer cross country paddocks. The horses looked after by a professional team of grooms and are soon to be moved into their new stables in a purpose built indoor barn over the winter of 2020/21! We organise pony days and kids clubs in every half term and have pony club every weekend. We have end of term in house fun competitive competitions for our riders. We also have a competitive riding team who compete on riding school horses and ponies in Showjumping, Dressage, Eventing and pony racing. Our Cross Country Course is well known for welcoming new riders to the sport, we take pride that our competitve events are one of the most supportive atmospheres for local venues and Hunter Trials in Hertfordshire and Essex.

Racing to School (reg no.1040590) is an education charity that aims to inspire young minds through the provision of free, interactive, and healthy outdoor educational events for schools, staged at a variety of racing venues. In 2021, Racing to School delivered 221 events across the country – engaging over 8,000 young people. The global Covid-19 pandemic has had an acute impact on the charity’s ability to deliver events over the past two years, but we are grateful for all our existing and new partnerships which enable us to now return to our growth strategy. This year we are aiming to reach a diverse group of 16,000 young people. The charity works with young people with special educational needs and over one third of our output is targeted to engage those from inner city, rural and deprived areas. Our staff has a range of industry backgrounds including former jockeys who have retrained to develop their second careers, and their experience is invaluable as the charity introduces horseracing as an accessible sport to young people.

We also work with and in partnership with other organisations including schools, social care and charities. A CIC is usually formed from people with a passion to want to try and alleviate problems that have identified in there local area or area of expertise. BushKraft is no different and wants to tackle the social issues, build confidence in everyone and improve peoples opportunities and situations. One of our skills is keeping families together and promoting well being, positive communication, positiveness and bonding as a unit rather than individuals. Most companies are formed to make money for the directors and share holders. A CIC is formed to help the community around its existence. When you pay a Community Interest Company you are helping others by us putting our profits back into the community. A CIC has to do this like a charity and is regulated with rules from the government and HMRC. Traditional forest school is not by far a new concept. Outdoor leaning and its benefits have been around since 19th century. One of many outdoor educators was Baden Powel who in 1907 formed the scouting organisation which has grown massively into what it is today. Traditional forest school is child led. This does not mean we just let them run wild and boss us around, but we do not set a specific curriculum. We facilitate their learning at a speed and style that suits the individual. Our high ratio's of adult to child allows children to learn and explore the woodland and nature around them. Our mission is to get children outside into nature enjoying themselves, playing with other children. Over the years technology is so advanced, (games consoles get "virtual" reality and mobile phones are really mini computers.) Children are spending less time outdoors especially in the winter months. Although we are not against technology we strongly believe in a child's right to play, explore, take risks, and be part of the natural world around them. Forest school is based more on the process of learning than it is on the content. This means instead of planning each session to the nearest minute, children can go off as things take their interest. More often than not as Forest leaders our planned sessions end up completely unplanned as the children explore nature.

As an overseas model Chinese school and Chinese Proficiency Test Centre, all teachers in our school have undergone professional training and most teachers have more than five years of teaching experience. The school uses “Zhongwen” as the main textbook and “Easy Steps to Chinese” as the supporting textbook. GCSE and A level classes use local Examination course books. Since the epidemic, we have been using Zoom and Google Classroom. All teachers are proficient in online teaching.
