Frogston Primary School opened its doors to a single Primary 1 class in August 2020 as the first brand new primary school in Edinburgh since the 1980s. We were initially known as Broomhills Primary School before renaming our school as Frogston in October 2020. In June 2021, we moved into our new, purpose built premises. The classrooms are outstanding agile spaces and we are enjoying seeing our landscaped, outdoor spaces change and develop as the seasons progress. We are growing into a large school and nursery with space for over 500 learners. As of August 2022, our Early Learning and Childcare Centre has over 100 children and we have over 300 pupils across 12 classes from P1 to P7, including an Enhanced Support Base. Having grown up in the West Country, joining the army 3 days after his 18th birthday, Gary quickly took full advantage of all that the military has to offer in fitness and adventure. Alongside operational tours of duty, Gary became a highly qualified Physical Training Instructor as well as teaching many outdoor pursuit activities, from Skiing to climbing, mountaineering to kayaking. On leaving the service he quickly recognised the skills he had attained during his time could be put to good use as a Personal Trainer and Group fitness instructor. Very quickly noticing civilians responded very positively to his “fun, firm, friendly, military style” of teaching. From this he went on to form what is now ODFC Fitness. 20+ years on and still doing what he does and still loving the challenges it brings. Away from classes, now married to the gorgeous Fiona and trying to be a good father to his two amazing boys, Noah and Zach, life is still an exciting adventure.

My personal philosophy of education is rooted in experiential learning. As a keen naturalist, walker and ultra runner I can be found most weekends following a road less travelled in Snowdonia, the Peak District or Cumbria. I have also undertaken extensive Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness living training (see My CPD section for full details). The Wise Owls Care Club was established in 1997 and provides a Breakfast Club and After School Club for pupils of Our Lady & St Werburgh's School, as well as a Holiday Club for children living in the local community. The club is Ofsted registered, is owned and run by Mr & Mrs Mogg. The club offers a safe, caring, stimulating and fun environment and provides a wealth of indoor and outdoor activities to suit all ages and interests. The emphasis is on fun and learning through play to develop social skills and boost confidence. A programme of activities is developed for each session. All children are different and each and every one is valued by the Wise Owls Team, who will endeavour to meet their individual needs. In turn, children are encouraged to be polite and show care, consideration and respect for the staff and each other. The club operates from within the Parish Hall next to the church at Our Lady & St Werburgh's School.

We are also working alongside local wellbeing and wellness professionals to bring you sound baths, herbal foraging, wild yoga, meditation, shamanic ceremonies, drumming workshops, women's health and much much more.

Feed them, pet them and even cuddle them during our 'Cuddly Encounters' hands on sessions. As well as our wide range of farm animals and reptiles there are tractor and trailer rides, animal demonstrations, a mini fun fair, crazy golf and lots of outdoor play fun. For rainy days and when the kids just want to run wild there’s the heated indoor soft play centre and cafe serving fresh sandwiches, toasties and paninis, a selection of rich and warming coffees and a tempting range of delicious cakes and treats.
