York

English in York is an English language school with many years of experience, situated in the north-east of England. The school is located in the centre of the beautiful and historic city of York. We offer a wide range of English language courses, including General English, exam preparation (e.g. IELTS), Business English, English for Specific Purposes and One-to-One Tuition. Our aim is to help our students achieve their language goals and have a memorable experience in the charming city of York. English in York was established in 1985 and is known for its high level of student support. We measure our success by the number of students who return to study at EiY, as well as recommend the school to family and friends. The many years we have worked with our partners, agents and clients all over the world are also testament to what we do. English in York is a welcoming and pleasant place to be. Our qualified teachers and staff are helpful and supportive: committed to giving a rewarding learning experience. We value a learner-centred approach and use a variety of teaching techniques and resources. Student progress is monitored through weekly progress tests. Our school has recently moved from Coney Street to Peasholme House, which is a beautiful 18th century Georgian house in the city centre of York. It is a charming building with a pleasant outdoor space where students can enjoy the English summer. The school has a comfortable coffee lounge with a television, newspapers and graded readers where students can relax and talk to friends between classes. We have wireless internet throughout the school and computers for student use. As we are located in the city centre, we are within easy reach of attractions, shops, restaurants and cafés.

EDINBURGH

We currently run 5 of school clubs across North Edinburgh and 2 in Juniper Green. Please see individual clubs for specific details on each. All of our clubs are registered with the Care Inspectorate and all of our workers are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. Our clubs offer children a wide range of fun and exciting learning opportunities based on their needs and interests. They also provide space for children to relax and spent time with their friends. A typical activity programme will offer children opportunities for indoor and outdoor play consisting of a mixture of board games, arts and crafts, loose parts, sports, music and outings. We actively promote children’s participation, not only in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our activity programmes but also in wider aspects of the clubs such as recruiting new members of staff and buying resources. During holiday periods we take children on outings and encourage them to try out new experiences such as abseiling and canoeing. We have fully trained Forest School leaders within our staff team who offer additional opportunities for adventurous outdoor experiences. A healthy snack is included in our fees. On Fridays and during holiday periods children are required to bring a packed lunch.
