The project will establish a new focal building at Cnoc Soilleir (the placename meaning “the bright hill”) in Daliburgh, with facilities that have been designed to meet the needs of both UHI Outer Hebrides’s educational programmes, and Ceòlas’ community-led activities around Gaelic language learning, heritage, culture, music and dance.

Learning to Work is a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status; set up to facilitate links between education and the world of work. Business engagement is at the heart of everything we do and is what sets our activities apart when it comes to giving young people an insight into the world of work and what employers will expect of them when they enter the workplace. Our brilliant business volunteers bring all of our activities to life with their expertise and enthusiasm. We are extremely passionate about the work we do and the impact we have on the lives of young people. Learning to Work achieved matrix Standard accreditation in 2014 and 2017 recognises our information, advice and guidance services and accredits our capability to support our schools with their responsibility for careers education. Each year we work with over 18,000 young people on a variety of different activities including; Work Experience, Careers Guidance, Work Ready Activities, Business Insight Days, Careers & Apprenticeship Events, Enterprise Activities, Inter-school Competitions, STEAM as well as support for Specials Needs and students struggling with mainstream education. Several local Education Business Partnerships were formed in 1993 as part of the government initiative to improve employer engagement in local schools. In 2007 EBEBP (East Berkshire EBP) was formed as an amalgamation of three of these local organisations. Following several changes to government funding and the education landscape EBeBP become Learning to Work in 2012.

Our vision is for a large scale urban food growing project which is nature rich, and which will benefit primarily the communities that live in the local area but also the wider city into the future. We aim to address some of the issues around access to local, affordable fresh produce, environmental degradation and lack of opportunities for people in cities to gain experience in food production resulting in a greater understanding of the wider food system. This land and proposed project has the potential to deliver many benefits including increased access to affordable locally grown food, increased biodiversity and enrichment of local wildlife habitats, carbon capture, multiple avenues for training and education around food growing and biodiversity and for celebration and coming together through community activities and events.

Whilst working in careers education he began to visualise careers for students in mind map format in order to help further their aspirations and build on their occupational knowledge. It wasn't until 2013 that the business was born. Since then the career guidance charts have developed into full graphics and expanded to include a range of career and technical education areas. We are a small and unique company passionate about educating students through infographics. We.'ve expanded our range into well over 130 infographic products, and produce both digital products and roller banners as well as career posters in areas such as career and employability. We are a family run business that currently run two sites at Cherry Blossom Farm in Kirkham/Newton and Little Oaks Farm in Poulton/Hambleton. After struggling for many years finding a storage unit that was the perfect fit for us, we decided to do it ourselves. We also cater to over 400 caravans, cars and motorhomes across the two sites. Over the course of the years we have found that convenience for the customer plus ensuring the site is as safe as possible is what is key to a successful facility.
