Eloise Schoeman is Fine Artist specializing in realist painting. Born in Bristol, United Kingdom but has lived in South Africa from 2008 until recently. She studied Fine Arts at Tshwane University of Technology where she was mentored by the renowned Dr Jan van der Merwe. After completing her degree Eloise relocated to Plymouth, United Kingdom to complete her Masters in Painting at the Arts University Plymouth. From the beginning, Eloise has seen a clear link between her photography and painting, the one not being complete without the other. In her practice, she starts by taking photographs of scenes or moments that feel familiar to her and then through the editing process she manipulates the images into compositions. Her final stage of editing a photograph is painting the work, in this way she dissects the colours, tones and details, considering where to put emphasis or lack thereof. She creates her artworks on large scale canvas using acrylic which allows her to create works fast and not overanalyze her instinctive decisions. The scale of the artworks is purposeful; Eloise wants her paintings to be immersive.

Many actions of Tai Chi are based on circular movements which together with subtle shifting of weight develops flexibility and extremely good balance, making it ideal for all ages. It originated in the 17th Century in the Chen Village, China. Although currently better known for its health benefits, Tai Chi was first recognised as a fighting art. It is a graceful, slow-moving exercise and is different from most other forms of movement and exercise because it works directly with ones chi (qi or life force).

Signworld is the product of Linda Day’s passion to see BSL and every other sign language learned and taught in the best possible way, with the best possible learning either in classroom or through online. This is to ensure that the teaching is up to date for the 21st Century. Everybody’s learning requirements are different, and Linda wants Signworld to be flexible enough to meet that. Linda Day is the former Director of the Centre for Deaf Studies, University of Bristol, and has over 25 years experience as a BSL/English presenter, interpreter and translator for TV, video and in recent years for a variety of websites. She was one of the first Deaf people to become registered as a qualified BSL/ASL Interpreter in 2012. Linda is the Deaf child of Deaf parents, so she learned BSL – from the cradle and through infancy. She went on to train as BSL teacher and to become a respected academic, both nationally and internationally. Linda was one of the Directors and founders of Signworld online learning (www.signworldlearn.com) back in March 2012.

In the 1950’s there were over 50 native species of bee in the UK, yet just a few years ago there was just 27. In the past few years honey bees have experienced more substantial declines. The UK used to be home to 27 species of bee, yet sadly 3 of these are now extinct with many more under threat. Bee Worldwide has been established in direct response to the growing number of declining bees. The goal is to identify the reasons for the decline and work towards rebuilding the ecosystem that is vital for the bees to regenerate their colonies. PreviousNext 123 This programme has several aims: to raise awareness of our current situation to educate the importance of bees replant foraging areas that are fundamental to the survival and reforming of bee colonies complete and promote research which targets understanding the impacts bees and other pollinators have and the effects of their current and future environment has on them. take action to reverse any negative impact which has already occurred. Bee Worldwide primary focus is to promote individuals and other groups to help bees in their own communities by planting some bee-friendly plants in their gardens. We will extend this to finding donated land and use volunteers to plant flowers in these areas. We also hope to set up a franchise model to become a bee keeper under our own brand, and this will include training, equipment and advice etc. Our research will be world leading and we will also collaborate with universities who are also working in this field of study. This will include monitoring bee movements with trackers (little backpacks) bee counting and many more scientific experiments. With the results, we can see if we can reverse any of the issues and help promote these messages so others can assist with the issues. Over time, Bee Worldwide will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource for bee keepers and an aspiration to the public and the community at large. We are an independent motorcycle training organisation affiliated to IAM RoadSmart. We are also an active, friendly and welcoming riders’ club. ABOUT BRISTOL ADVANCED MOTORCYCLISTS Official provider of IAM RoadSmart training in Bristol. Although we are affiliated to the IAM RoadSmart organisation, and an official provider of the RoadSmart programme, Bristol Advanced Motorcyclists is a separate organisation, with charitable status. And whilst one of our primary purposes as an organisation is to provide a coordinated training programme to motorcyclists in Bristol and the west country region, the club is also an active social hub for riders. Participation in the club’s activities isn’t mandatory, but it’s a great way to meet other like-minded riders and to continue developing your skills. Once you’ve gained sufficient experience you may even wish to progress to becoming an IAM RoadSmart Observer yourself, and of course we can guide you towards that achievement too. In addition to the monthly Super Sunday events we also arrange group ride-outs, more extended trips both in the UK and Europe, talks and other social activities. All of their volunteer riders must be qualified to Advanced standard and many of these have been trained by the BAM group. You can learn more about Freewheelers here: www.freewheelers.org.uk About the IAM The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is a national charity organisation, established in 1956, dedicated to increasing road safety by improving driving standards. Both the organisation and the training programme is now known as IAM RoadSmart. RoadSmart is a national training programme for drivers and riders aimed at developing their observation and control skills. The RoadSmart training programme is delivered at regional level by volunteer groups, such as Bristol Advanced Motorcyclists (BAM), who are a designated ‘Official Provider’. All Observers are accredited by IAM RoadSmart. When you begin your training you become an Associate member. Full membership of the IAM is awarded upon successfully achieving the Advanced standard. Once this standard is achieved there are no further testing stages (unless you opt to train to be an Observer) and you become a full, lifetime member of the IAM, subject to an annual renewal fee (currently £42 per year).

Pete has a wealth of experience in the health and social care sector and also worked for the NHS in Bristol where the pioneering work we do first began.
