Edge of Play, formed in late 2017, is an online coaching resource, providing football coaches with hundreds of football coaching videos from the grassroots and professional game. Our website is subscription based and features videos from grassroots coaches, elite level clubs, academies and professional players all sharing exciting ideas and insights. The site allows you to link in with your social media profiles to share content with peers, clubs and players. Our vision is to build a global, inclusive, online community of coaches: learning, interacting and creating, together. It is through our work with our clubs, that we have become acutely aware of the challenges facing amateur, semi-pro and even professional coaches. We know that in coaching (like most other jobs) people are always looking for new content to ensure their players remain in love with the game; to keep them engaged, learning, developing, and most importantly having fun. However, we are also aware that not everyone has the same circumstances, opportunities, or environment in which to coach. Therefore we are to provide the best service for the lowest cost! Growing up I was incredibly blessed by the magic my parents created for my sisters and I at Christmas. It started a few weeks before the big day with the tree. We had a classic late 80’s white tree. Each year, we’d gather together as we unboxed the decorations, taking it in turns to place our favourite baubles on the branches. The star, the most magical ornament of all, would be placed at the top by my Dad. The Christmas classics vinyl would be playing on our record player as we drank hot chocolate and prepared for the forthcoming festive season. These remain some of my fondest and most vivid memories. My parents kept that seasonal spirit alive for us throughout the pursuant weeks, ending in a crescendo on Christmas day. Gifts and games galore, sing alongs whilst my Dad played the guitar. As the night drew to a close my Mum would snuggle us up under a blanket before we went to bed. I wouldn’t trade these precious memories for anything. I’m aware how very fortunate I am. Nowadays Christmas remains a joyful time for us and over the years, we’ve gathered new loved ones and added even more traditions to our family repertoire. Charades is a Findlay family classic. And you can bet your bottom dollar Die Hard will feature at least once. In 2019 I experienced my worst Christmas. Dealing with a difficult diagnosis and having only received my cancer treatment plan hours before, I spent the day in a haze of champagne, anti-anxiety medication and shock. The year or two leading up to that Christmas, I’d been experimenting with long periods alcohol free. Once a proud owner of my party girl status, I’d been surprised by how freeing it felt to remove the booze and lean into other facets of myself. Parts of me that I’ve now come to realise alcohol had been concealing, or more perhaps more accurately, stealing.

Our father Tom Johnson started Awards Ltd. in 1977 in the dining room of his house in Urbana IL where he produced engraved products such as plaques, signs and awards. In 1982 he moved Awards Ltd. to Champaign, IL, where he set up shop in the loft of his new home, adding promotional items to his line of products. In 1989 Tom acquired a similar business called Signmaster which made signs, name tags, and rubber stamps. He merged Awards Ltd with Signmaster operation and moved the business to Henson Place in Champaign, where Awards Ltd. is still located today. He then decided to bring on his two sons Glenn and Kenny to help with the additional production efforts needed to produce these new products. Glenn and Kenny took over most of the production side of the business, and although Tom still kept his hands busy with some production work, he focused primarily on promotional products and the business side of things. In 1996 Glenn and Kenny took over managemnt of the business, overseeing all aspects of production, bookkeeping and marketing. In 2000 Tom decided to retire paving the way for Glenn and Kenny to take over ownership of the business. Tom still came to work every day, helping with production, but the thing he liked doing the most was working on the computer setting up artwork for promotional products and other production items. Tom has since retired completely, but he still stops by every day to say hi. He will be 86 years young on May 29, 2017. Currently it is just the two of us (Glenn and Kenny) and our loyal co-worker Sarah who is a very hard worker and in the process of learning all aspects of our business. Sarah has been with us for a little over a 3 years now. We are still going strong after 40 years in business! Awards Ltd, where ideas are unlimited!

Lighthouse Literacy Academy was created to meet the growing needs of San Diego’s East County families who are searching for a wonderful alternative to public school. We are a group of parents and educators with children between grades Transitional Kindergarten and 9th grade. We ourselves grew up in East County attending different elementary, Jr high and High schools around the community. We come with various backgrounds from college degrees to countless ECE classes. Some of us have a background in preschool education, some in homeschooling and some in primary education. Lighthouse Literacy Academy is a Christian school where children will experience God’s love in our morning Bible time and weekly chapel as well as throughout the week as we learn to love God and each other just as God commands us. We believe learning success is rooted in strong literacy. We believe that literacy is the foundation for all learning success, from the primary years, all through college and all of life. We believe a solid ability to read well gives tremendously to whether or not an individual will thrive throughout their lives. We believe that when a Pre-K student reads sight words or a Kindergartener reads 3-7 word sentences, when a first or second grader is reading full books they are paving their way to a bright future. At Lighthouse Literacy Academy each and every child will be a successful reader whether at grade level or beyond. When at Lighthouse Literacy Academy, a child has reached her or his grade level expectations we don't sit back and celebrate, we celebrate and begin the journey of even further progress, motivating, facilitating and supporting each and every child right where they are individually. Our small class sizes allow for one on one learning, community and collaboration. Hi I’m Kate, I set up Sew Creative in 2016, however a lot of my customers are often surprised to hear that I haven’t always loved sewing - in fact I even paid one of my friends to sew my Year 7 Textiles project for me, then ditched the subject as soon as I was allowed in the following year! I eventually learnt to sew when I made the decision to study Fashion Design in Manchester. After my degree I worked in the fashion industry in both London and New York, before heading back up North to train to be a Textiles teacher and settle in Altrincham. Whilst teaching, I started to advertise sewing classes - it was originally just a way to earn a little extra money. I started on a table in Hobbycraft with a couple of old machines and some bits and pieces from my personal fabric stash. I sat there for several weeks, with no customers or interest, and was about to give up when Sue (now a member of staff!), my first ever customer, approached me asking if I’d teach her how to make her own patterns - and Sew Creative was born! Alex MANAGER Alex joined the Sew Creative team having left teaching in February 2020, just two weeks before the first National Lockdown! When she was a teacher, she taught social science, so sewing was a bit of a change! Alex sews most of her own clothes and can usually be found wearing at least one me-made item in store during the week. Alex teaches our adult classes as well as our teenagers. She is also the shop’s manager, so if you need anything, she is always happy to help! You can find her on Instagram @sewalexfaye "My favourite thing about being able to sew is making things that fit me properly. I'm almost 6ft tall so finding ready to wear trousers and dresses the right length has always been a challenge.Now I just make them to fit my body rather than the other way around!" Dawn TUTOR Dawn has been with us at Sew Creative for two years now and has become the heart and soul of the shop. Dawn is our resident neat-freak so she keeps us all nice and ship-shape. Dawn has been sewing for years and regularly makes herself gorgeous dresses and coats. Dawn can be found teaching our adults on a Tuesday and our Saturday classes. She is warm of heart and always up for a good natter! Jayne TUTOR Jayne joined Sew Creative in September 2020, in the midst of a Global Pandemic has has taken the rollercoaster ride like a true pro. Jayne’s career has been in lingerie design and she has worked with some of the biggest names in the biz! Jayne sews her won clothes, and loves making tailored trousers, she is always the picture of sophistication! Jayne works most weekdays and every other Saturday, teaching our kids and adult classes. She also teaches our Monday night adult lesson! George CHIEF EXECUTIVE George is the newest and most adorable member of the Sew Creative team. He’s not old enough to sew yet, but can often be found in the shop sporting a mum-made outfit. You’ll also find his full modelling portfolio on Instagram, where you are guaranteed a regular dose of cuteness. He keeps Eric and Dotty very busy and despite being so small, is always the centre of attention! We’re all convinced he’ll be the next Patrick Grant! Eric HEAD OF SECURITY Hi, I’m Eric. I can often be found guarding the front door at Sew Creative. While I might look big, tough and scary, I am actually quite a lovely chap. I love treats, cuddles, any food that you might be eating, and more cuddles. Please feel free to pick me up and cuddle me, instead of doing any sewing. I look forward to meeting you soon. Thank you. Dotty THE DUCHESS Hi, I’m Dotty. I am pretty shy, but if you’re quiet and gentle I will come for some cuddles. I can often be found sleeping in my basket, or following my Mum around - just to make sure that she’s still there! Volunteers and Party Facilitators In addition to our part and full time members of staff, Sew Creative also has a team of amazing volunteers who help us out every week. Lisa, Sue , Catherine and Liz can be found lending a helping hand in our kids and adults classes, alongside some of our teen sewers who give up their precious weekends to work with us! If you book a party with us, you will almost certainly meet our lovely party facilitators. Evie and Daisy have been sewing with us for years and as they have grown up, have proven themselves to be very capable seamstresses. Both ladies are excellent with kids and adults alike!
