Our VISION is to be Here For Young People. We believe that all young people should be able to access the highest quality mental health and wellbeing support in a safe and welcoming environment. Our MISSION is to maintain and develop accessible, flexible and specialist services. We aim to respond to the psychological and social needs and challenges of young people under 25 years old. Values Compassion: We provide a welcoming and non-judgemental environment for young people to access support that helps them live healthy and fulfilled lives. Inclusion: We strive to remove barriers to access, and to use our expertise to provide services that our young people can trust to be safe and to meet their individual needs. Respect: We serve our diverse community, and work with our partners, with a willingness to collaborate, adapt, and recognise the importance of choice. ——————————————————————— Based in the heart of our local community, Brandon Centre offers a comfortable, welcoming, and non-institutional setting for young people to access a range of mental health and wellbeing services. Our self-referral system means that all young people can access the confidential care and support provided by our friendly and highly skilled team. Our innovative approach applies psychotherapeutic principles to devise and implement mental health services, and we partner with schools, youth offending services and advice agencies to engage and reach out to high priority groups of young people. As well as individual therapeutic help for young people, we also offer effective intervention for families of young people in serious trouble with the law, and for parents struggling to bring up a teenager whose behaviour is out-of-control. Our approach combines leading-edge service delivery with audit, research, and the rigorous evaluation of outcomes. This has further enhanced our reputation as an accessible and collaborative provider of mental health and wellbeing support to young people under 25, helping them to overcome difficulties and become healthy and fulfilled young adults.

Safe For All

London

Safe for All was formed by Anita August who has worked with disadvantaged groups in East London, both as a trainer and manager of a community project for over 13 years. Anita became aware of the significant impact that accredited training in First Aid and Health and Safety had on the employability and life skills of disadvantaged groups. Over the past four years (2006-2010) our senior trainers have been working in partnership with the College of North East London to deliver Health and Safety training to Haringey employees at all levels who are involved in delivering and managing front line services in Adult Social Care, including managers and employees of residential projects for adults with dementia, severe learning difficulties and mental health problems. The training has been extended to also deliver to services delivering childcare facilities including, nurseries, schools and childminders. Safe for All also specialises in delivering training to the Hospitality and Leisure Industries, Schools and Nurseries, Voluntary and Community Organisations, Social Enterprises and is expanding in to the Construction industry and Corporate Sector. Safe for All only uses qualified instructors who have a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working in an operational Health and Safety and First Aid background, for example, Nurses, Lifeguards, Environmental Health Officers, Health & Safety Representatives and the Emergency Services. All associates have to demonstrate their competence through rigorous assessment of their training. All training associates are CRB checked. Safe for All’s Directors are professionals with extensive experience of managing private, public and third sector organisations and empowering disadvantaged people and communities in London. The Directors and training associates are committed to creating a more inclusive society and enabling everyone to access First Aid and Health and Safety training regardless of circumstance. Anita also identified a lack of affordable training provision and training resources for people with disabilities. Community groups she worked with encouraged her to make her services as widely available as possible. Hence Safe for All was born. Safe for All was formed with a vision to increase the availability of such training and is 50 per cent governed by people with disabilities.

Axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA) is an inflammatory arthritis where the main symptom is back pain Axial spondyloarthritis is an umbrella term and it includes: Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) Where changes to the sacroiliac joints or the spine can be seen on x-ray. Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis Where x-ray changes are not present but inflammation is visible on MRI or you have symptoms. Around 7 in 10 people with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis have visible inflammation in the sacroiliac joints or the spine when an MRI of the back is carried out. Around 3 in 10 may not have any inflammation visible on MRI despite symptoms of back pain. Some may never go on to develop visible inflammation on MRI. The reasons for this are still not well understood but may be due to the sensitivity of MRI. Typical symptoms of axial SpA include: Slow or gradual onset of back pain and stiffness over weeks or months, rather than hours or days Early-morning stiffness and pain, wearing off or reducing during the day with exercise Persistence for more than 3 months (as opposed to coming on in short attacks) Feeling better after exercise and worse after rest Weight loss, especially in the early stages Fatigue or tiredness Feeling feverish and experiencing night sweats What happens? It’s a painful, progressive form of inflammatory arthritis. It mainly affects the spine but can also affect other joints, tendons and ligaments. Other areas such as the eyes and bowel can also sometimes be involved. Inflammation occurs at the site where ligaments or tendons attach to the bone. This is known as enthesis The inflammation is followed by some wearing away of the bone at the site of the attachment. This is known as enthesopathy As the inflammation reduces, healing takes place and new bone develops. Movement becomes restricted when bone replaces the elastic tissue of ligaments or tendons Repetition of this inflammatory process leads to further bone formation and the individual bones which make up your backbone (vertebrae) can fuse together
