My name is Dulcie Mitchell. I am a yoga and movement teacher based in East Grinstead. I believe that there is no one wholly perfect movement discipline. Movement is medicine for the mind and the body and both need a holistic approach with a balance of ease and effort, challenge and release. I encourage this philosophy through my own practice and teaching style. In my classes, I love to incorporate a mixture of styles of yoga and other disciplines such as primal movement, Pilates, gymnastics drills, myofascial meridian sequencing, and breath work to create a well-rounded practice. I enjoy delivering a cocktail of disciplines in fun, creative flows that challenge, empower and inspire the body and brain. Strength and mobility take a long time to cultivate. My objective is to create a space for you to enjoy the journey every time you step onto your mat.

Adriana Lord is a singer, songwriter, and actress with a background in medicine, contemporary dance, events production, Playback, and Spontaneous Theatre. She has been a founder of several choirs and theatre groups and has many vocal credits including soundtracks, commercials, and albums. Adriana has performed on radio and TV, including BBC1 and BBC 4, as well as theatres, festivals, and venues across the UK, France, Brazil, and Cuba. She is also the lead singer in Son Guarachando, a Brighton-based Latin band. As a music leader Adriana currently works as a teacher of singing, theatre, and Spanish to young people, and also collaborates with the theatre groups Teatro por y para Niños, Banyan Tree Puppet Theatre, MOSAIC, Luna Playback Theatre, and Something From Nothing Theatre Company. She has delivered singing workshops in festivals, prisons, schools, hospitals, and care homes as well as been involved in cultural projects in the battle against AIDS, homophobia and transphobia, racism, and other sorts of discrimination.

Living Song exists to empower Young Artists and build communities through singing. We challenge limiting assumptions about what all young people can achieve, put young leaders centre stage and create innovative lifelong learning opportunities for all, insisting on diversity and inclusion in their widest sense. In August 2017, Living Song became a Community Interest Community (CIC) to enable us to build wider partnerships with Newham Council and other organizations, develop our funding steams and to create more opportunities for young people and communities to shine through singing. An advisory board was appointed, and we have continued to go from strength to strength. Who Are We? The company is directed by an Executive Director, with a board of two Non-Executive Directors and a team of advisors from across a wide range of music performance and education contexts. We have a Youth Board of five young people aged 16 – 25 who meet regularly to discuss and advise of relevant issues for them. We work with a range of tutors, artists and music practitioners, identified for their bespoke skills and experience for each project. Who Do We Work With? We work with schools and pupil referral units, community organisations, music education hubs, libraries, local authorities, commercial organisations, businesses and a range of community singing groups and choirs. What We Do Living Song has recently reviewed its work programme to see how it can be streamlined to maximise our impact. During the next 18 months – two years we will focus our attention on delivering three core programme areas which are: A Young Artist apprenticeship /’future leaders’ programme Delivering workshops in schools and the wider community A tailored Living Song Choral Music Experience (CME) These work areas are outlined in more detail below. Although distinct projects, the three areas of work overlap and reinforce each other, for example, a core element of the young leaders’ programme is the delivery of workshops in schools or for the wider community, and a handful of participants will be chosen to join Living Song’s CME course. As a Yoga teacher she teaches Yoga inspired movement that is slow paced and breath oriented with some elements of strength building. It focuses on finding space and length in a body, connecting to the breath and activating parasym- pathetic nervous system. While practicing postures the students are asked to enquire about the ‘feeling’ sensations in the body. Ashka is also a trained Counsellor. She has found lots of parallel between yoga and Counselling as both can help the clients to focus on the present moment, enhance the ability to observe thoughts and feelings and gain greater self- awareness. In Ashka’s opinion they beautifully complement each other and together they give an opportunity to work in a complementary way with both Body and Mind. We are multidimensional beings and our well being is not only associated with mind and body, To consider ourselves as a whole we need to recognise that we are a part of something bigger, of nature, or universe. Ashka is also a Reiki Master bringing all three dimensions of Mind, Body and Spirit into her work. Ashka has interest in various traditions: Western Esoterism, Mysticism, Yogic philosophy and Buddhism and have trained as a Meditation Teacher and in various yoga styles: Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga. Her practices are informed by these disciplines.

The Food Partnership was started by local residents in 2003, and our committed team of staff & volunteers deliver a range of food projects which have helped over 15,000 local people learn to cook, grow their own food, eat a healthier diet and waste less. Eating is central to life’s celebrations and memories, and our approach is to use this power of food to bring about change. Much of our work benefits vulnerable adults and people experiencing deprivation, isolation, poor health and other life challenges. Our activities makes lasting changes to habits and behaviours which improve lives. We’re a not-for-profit organisation and we work with a wide range of partners including community organisations, statutory agencies, local businesses and individual residents. Our work has been recognised by independent bodies – most recently awarded ‘Non profit of the year’ 2019 at the Brighton & Hove Business Awards, ‘Team of the Year’ at the Cost Sector Catering Awards 2019 and the ‘Community Benefit Award’ at the 2019 Southeast RICS awards for the build project to create the Community Kitchen. We led Brighton & Hove’s successful submission for ‘Gold Sustainable Food City’ status. We hold the PQASSO Level 2 quality mark, and are proud to be a Living Wage employer.
