We envision a world in which children with developmental disabilities are fully able to access the health and education services they need to achieve their full potential. Mission To change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people living with developmental disabilities, and the lives of their families, by improving access to and better quality of healthcare and education services and support. Aims The aim of MAITS is to improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable individuals living with disabilities by helping them to reach their full potential, be healthy and have an improved sense of well-being, through access to family support, quality healthcare and education. We do this through a team of trainers from all over the world, who are experienced professionals, and who give their time to provide capacity building, training and resources to those caring for and providing health and education services to individuals with disabilities in community or institutional settings. Our team We do this through a very small staff team, training consultants and a team of qualified volunteers from all over the world, who are experienced healthcare and education professionals. Our volunteers provide training and support to those caring for and providing health and education services to individuals with disabilities in community or institutional settings. We also have a small grants programme which enables training to take place in any location where there is a need globally. The aim is to enable individuals to reach their full potential, with improved health, well-being and quality of life through access to family support, quality healthcare and education. Overview We work with and help some of the most marginalised people globally –those with disabilities living in some of the poorest countries in the world. There are 150 million children living with a disability and of these the majority live in developing countries. Since 2011, we have provided training to 4675 staff working in the disability sector in 21 countries and helped over 600,000 individuals living with disabilities. The people we have trained include therapists, nurses, special educators, staff working in children’s homes and community health workers. Part of our work involves providing training at the grass roots level, to community health workers and care staff, on conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities to enable early identification, referral to specialists where possible and the provision of home support to promote development and independence, using training packages and tools we have developed specifically. Some of our training can be life-saving, especially in the case of infants and children with feeding difficulties, which often leads to malnutrition, severe respiratory problems and early mortality. With the right training, these consequences can be dramatically reduced, improving the child’s quality of life and their life expectancy. MAITS’ specialists have developed and delivered training and resources for healthcare staff to address this issue, both in children and infants, the latter at the request of medical colleagues working on measures to prevent infant mortality. Our training also provides other innovative solutions to improving the lives of those with disabilities.

We are also known for our special intimate performances of carols and performances of medieval and renaissance music. Our most recent show, I Spie (2021), starring Dominic Marsh, Danny Webb and Alice Imelda, toured the UK and was released on film. It tells the little known story of composer John Dowland and his brush with the Elizabethan secret service. Pre-pandemic, in 2019/20 we undertook 28 performances & 4 public workshops. We have performed at Buxton International Music Festival, Music at Oxford (3 performances) Little Missenden Festival, Brighton Early Music Festival (4 performances), Keele Concerts Society, Kingston Early Music, Totnes Early Music Society – and working with other groups including The Sixteen, we spearheaded our own Liverpool Early Music Festival. The Telling leads the way in delivering online workshops - delivering weekly singing sessions for over a year throughout the 2020/21 lockdowns which participants described as a “lifeline”: “I found myself in tears as I realised it was the first time in many years I'd actually been able to sing a carol” Workshop participant We record for First Hand Records: our first CD Gardens of Delight was selected for BBC Music Magazine playlist for April 2019 and our second CD Secret Life of Carols reached #25 in the Classical Charts in December 2019. We are a friendly and approachable DMT and Trampoline club based at Cambourne Fitness and Sports Centre, Cambridgeshire, who welcome bouncers of all ages and abilities from beginners through to National Competitors. We are registered with British Gymnastics through whom all our coaches and committee are trained and are dedicated to providing positive trampolining opportunities for all within Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas. How do we operate: Cambourne Comets is run by a committee of volunteers and we employ a number of coaches up to level 3. We believe in communication and accountability and are fully committed to the welfare of the children bouncing with us. Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. To ensure the welfare and safety of our members the Club has adopted in full the British Gymnastics 'Health, Safety and Welfare' policy, Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and their 'Child protection Policy' We have appointed welfare officers who are fully involved in the running of the club and with whom issues can be raised. What days do we train? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. We also offer Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) sessions on Thursdays at 5.30 pm and 6.30pm. How much does it cost? Sessions cost £5.50 and run for an hour. You will be invoiced at the beginning of each term. We are happy to allow the payments to be spread over the term but ask all accounts are cleared before the last week of the term. We will assume membership is continuing unless we are emailed to confirm cancellation. Payment is done by bank transfer of which details will be sent with invoice. How are the sessions run? Sessions have either 2 or 3 classes running at the same time and bouncers are allocated a coach to suit their skills and needs. We provide one-to-one coaching to ensure we meet the individual needs of the member. Bouncers will take part in a five minute floor warm up at the start of the session, followed by a warm up on the trampoline bed and then they are all set to train. What should you wear? Suitable sports clothing without buttons, zips, toggles, hoods etc that may get caught on the bed Trampoline shoes or socks are a must. Jewellery, watches, badges and anything else that may catch must be removed. Long hair must be tied back. Club Membership: Regular bouncers will be expected to become members of Cambourne Comets Trampoline Club and British Gymnastics (BG). Fees are payable monthly thereafter preferably by standing order. Recreational club membership costs £45 and includes affliation to Eastern Counties Gymnastic Association (ECGA). Taster sessions: We offer a taster session so that you can "try before you buy" where you can come along and meet the coaches and train with other members. There is no charge for the trial session if you decide not to join the club. Holiday sessions: Holiday sessions are handled on a pay as you go basis and must be booked and paid for in advance.

This allows the learner to gain knowledge and the choice to concentrate within a particular field; they may ordinarily have not had the opportunity. We home in on their strengths and build on them. This leads in many cases gaining an apprenticeship, securing a college course or employment. Since our team were made redundant from Learning World in November 2012, we have made it our sole aim to keep the continuity we have successfully maintained over the years as training providers. We secured funding, from the Big Lottery, Young Start and Investing in Ideas. This has allowed us to buy equipment and resources to provide correct and current training for the learners within our centre. We managed to secure the premises with our Landlord before Leaning World closed their doors at the end of October 2012. This has provided us the start we need to carry forward our work within the East End of Glasgow and continue to build our relationships with other agencies, for example; Education Services; Activity Agreements Officers and Integrated Children’s Services, East End Regeneration, and more recently Forestry Commission Community Woodland Trust, to help provide a tangible Green Legacy, as well as the Youth Circus, as part of the Commonwealth Games. Our aim as a training provider is primarily based on passion not profit. Seeking to deliver a stepping stone for our learners who live within areas of high unemployment, deprivation, addiction and social exclusion. As well as, working with young people who have been excluded from school, and are being cared for away from the family home. Last week I was having a few doubts about some decisions that I’d really been sure of before. But after taking some time for reflection, I recognized that several lies had infiltrated my thinking, tearing me down with subtle accusations. In fact, those decisions that I’d already made were from the Lord, and He confirmed them again. Clearly, it was time to examine my spiritual defenses. I am finding that everything I do related to taking a team back to Haiti next month is being fought by the enemy. Here are some mandatory responses to spiritual warfare – I hope you will take action in your battle as well: Stay Alert: We are at war, so as Howard Hendricks says, don’t be surprised that you’re being shot at. We are admonished to be self-controlled and alert, for our enemy “prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8.) Take Cover: Put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and walk in truth, practice righteousness and exercise your faith. Stand firm and pray! If it’s been more than one week since you’ve reviewed this passage, read and pray through it right now. Fight back: Are you living in a museum, with your sword hanging on the wall in display? That’s exactly what you’re doing if you leave your Bible on the shelf. The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12, emphasis added.) A sword is not a defensive barrier – it’s a weapon of assault – which is why it is sharp and piercing. How prepared are you when it comes to self-defense of your soul? Are you a white belt? Is the message life-giving or draining? Jesus told us that our enemy intends to steal, kill and destroy – but He came that we’d experience life abundantly (John 10:10.) Am I experiencing assurance of who I am in Christ, or being driven to doubt? Is the message I’m receiving making me more confident and full of faith? Or is it creating anxiety or fear? (e.g. 1 John 5:11-12, Ephesians 2:10, Jeremiah 31:3, Romans 8:14-16.)
