I started my creative career as a painter and graduated in 1987 from Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic. My main interest was painting murals and I was keen from the outset that art I created for public sites should involve the people who share that environment. I went on to paint a number of large murals and worked as a freelance artist until 1999, when I began working for a local authority. From 1992 I worked as a Community Arts project manager for an artists' co-operative and then for 15 years with two local authorities as an Arts Development officer, developing and managing festivals, community events and public arts projects. At the same time I continued my creative practice and exhibited annually with Open Up Sheffield and other similar events.

Inclusive Pedals CIC is a social enterprise based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Our four directors run a variety of projects helped by a team of volunteers. We're all keen to expand the range of bikes and promote the use of bicycles as every day transport. Amongst our group we have qualified bike mechanics, British Cycling coaches and experience of working with disabilities. Bikeability instructors from Wheely Fun Wheels help out with some of our sessions too. Our volunteers assist with delivering our community based projects such as adapted cycling, Cycling Without Age and the Community Cycle Club. Many of us are members of Chesterfield Cycle Campaign. Check our 'resources' page for local cycling information and other details. Director Alastair Meikle was the winner of the national Modeshift award in 2017 'Individual Contribution to Sustainable Travel' and in 2019 delivered practical training workshops at the national Bikeability conference. Carfield Primary School is a super place for children to learn and we have a dedicated team of staff who put the children at the centre of all their efforts. Carfield is a successful school but we are always looking for ways to improve. We treat each child as an individual and try our best to ensure they enjoy learning and coming to school. Our expectations of both children’s learning and behaviour are high at all times and all our pupils are actively supported to believe they can be successful and achieve. We hope parents will be partners in their child’s learning. We have a thriving PTA that we call Carfield Friends. They organise a wide variety of activities and fundraising events. Message to parents More Than Ed continues to operate as normal. We will not be wearing facemasks, or asking your children to do so, as we do not work in confined spaces and all young people at More Than Ed are classed as SEN. However, should you wish us or your child to wear a facemask in the car due to someone in your family being at higher risk of infection, please inform us. All students' temperatures will be taken prior to their journey to school, and any child that appears to have a higher than normal temperature will be asked to remain at home until they have received a negative COVID-19 test result (not a Lateral Flow Test result.) More Than Ed Therapeutic Provision offers a therapeutic education in a nurture-based environment for young people at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school, or those who have already been excluded. As an Attachment and Trauma Aware Provision, we offer in-house Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. All our staff will adhere to all Government restrictions when not at work so that your child and family are protected as much as possible. Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team.
