The Islamic Finance Council UK (UKIFC) is a specialist advisory and development body focused on promoting and enhancing the global Islamic and ethical finance industry. The organisation was launched in 2005 by a group of like-minded professionals who sought to make a contribution to the development of the new and exciting Islamic finance industry. The founding directors, comprising a banker, an accountant and a lawyer, recognised that it was not within the mandate of their current businesses to invest resources into growing this young and emerging sector. The idea was conceived to establish a not-for-profit organisation which could provide a formal platform for them and others to dedicate their time and expertise, on a pro bono basis, to drive the sector forward. The initial priority of the UKIFC was to support the expansion of the UK consumer retail market where the existing infrastructure was not considered adequate for the Muslim minority population. At the global level the organisation sought to contribute by developing pioneering capacity building programmes for Shariah scholars and encouraging improvements in regulatory policy. Since its modest beginnings, the UKIFC has remained committed to its guiding principle of making a tangible, positive impact to the sector. The team has advised governments, authored technical reports, presented at international conferences and developed training programmes which, collectively, have changed global regulation and played a leading role in exploring the relationship between Islamic finance and the broader ethical finance arena.

YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland. The company works across three key areas – Access and Participation, Education and Talent Development, to give every child and young person in Scotland the chance to participate in dance at whatever level is right for them. In the 21st century children and young people need to develop a range of transferable skills to help them navigate their lives so they can be successful and responsible citizens. At YDance we believe the arts and dance offer children a unique opportunity to develop a range of skills that will empower them to reach their full potential. Through working with a range of partner organisations from sport, education, health, social services and youth justice we create projects that allow children from a range of different settings and communities to access high quality bespoke dance sessions, enabling them to learn about themselves, learn about dance and learn through dance.

Established in 1968 by a group of parents, we are now the largest provider of autism-specific services in Scotland and a leading authority and advocate for good autism practice. We exist to help those diagnosed with autism to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives and be recognised as valued members of the community they live in. We also seek to share our knowledge and expertise with parents, carers and other professionals in order to support the development of skills and strategies needed to provide the best care and support for autistic people. Building partnerships locally, nationally and internally provides us with the exciting opportunity to learn and share our knowledge of good autism practice with other countries. Our Deputy CEO, Charlene Tait, is on the Council of Administration for Autism-Europe. This is an association gathering almost 90 national and regional organisations advocating for the rights of autistic people from 30 European countries. Zero Waste Scotland exists to lead Scotland to use products and resources responsibly, focusing on where we can have the greatest impact on climate change. Using evidence and insight, our goal is to inform policy, and motivate individuals and businesses to embrace the environmental, economic, and social benefits of a circular economy. We are a not-for-profit environmental organisation, funded by the Scottish Government and European Regional Development Fund. Our structure As a company limited by guarantee, Zero Waste Scotland’s board is comprised of six non-executive directors, one of whom is the chair, and one executive director, who is the chief executive officer. Company membership includes Scottish ministers alongside our non-executive directors. How we are funded We are funded by the Scottish Government and receive funding from the European Structural Funds Programme to help accelerate our circular economy and resource efficiency work with SMEs in Scotland.
