GCS Training

gcs training

Stroud

We are a well-established charitable organisation providing a range of counselling and training services to secure the delivery and development of high quality professional counselling and counselling associated training in Gloucestershire and the surrounding area. GCS first started in 1978 and became registered as a charity in 1984 with the aim to provide high quality, affordable counselling to the communities of Gloucestershire. At this time there was little provision of this nature outside of London, the small group of therapy professionals grew the service and later launched the training of counsellors so as to ensure an ongoing supply of professionally trained counsellors to the county. GCS was founded to provide access to affordable counselling and training for all members of society within the county, regardless of background or circumstances. We recognise that discrimination operates consciously and unconsciously in our society, which means some people have greater access to opportunities than others. Please see the following link for the full GCS Equality Statement Our core belief is that all people are treated with dignity and respect and we are creating an organisation where inequalities are challenged and we anticipate and respond positively to different needs and circumstances. Here at GCS our mission is to improve the quality of life for the communities of Gloucestershire through Counselling and Counselling Skills Training. Our long term goal is to maintain our reputation for delivering a high quality and effective service, meeting local needs and to be the first choice for Counselling and Training Services in Gloucestershire and its surrounding areas.

Dr Leah Callebaut

England

My interest in psychology and mental health began 17 years ago. Following my Psychology degree I began working for the NHS and training at Doctoral level to become a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. My aim was to be be able to practically apply psychological theory and research to help people to achieve emotional wellbeing and enhance their quality of life. Since 2012 I have worked in a variety of NHS psychology services, offering talking therapy and emotional support to individuals, couples and families. Between 2014 and 2020 I specialised in supporting people with long-term physical health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, Fibromyalgia and bowel conditions (e.g. IBS and IBD). Alongside my work with Heal.Feel.Connect. I now continue to work part-time for an NHS hospital in Gloucestershire, working with staff to reduce work-related stress and burnout, and promoting a culture of compassion and psychological safety within the organisation. After discovering a personal benefit to mindfulness meditation in 2014 I decided to pursue formal training in the delivery of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses. Employing these approaches with people in groups and during one-to-one therapy has further convinced me of the benefits of mindfulness for mental and physical health and I enjoy being able to share this wonderful and refreshing way of living with others. In 2021 I also completed training to be able to deliver Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) courses, which work to more deeply develop the self-compassion skills taught by mindfulness practise.

Third-Party Risk Management

5.0(10)

By GBA Corporate

Overview Extending business activities beyond organisational boundaries to create value for the organisation is not new. However, the quantity and complexity of the relationships that now exist beyond organisational boundaries are increasing, as is regulatory and stakeholder scrutiny. While partnerships with third parties, including critical suppliers, can be beneficial to the organisation on so many levels, such alliances can expose the organisation to many unknowns, and those unknowns will undoubtedly increase the level of risk. The key, then, is properly managing the infrastructure, systems, staff and outside support to adequately manage that risk.

By SAVO CIC

This half day course is designed to help participants learn more about the new legal form for charities, the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), which was introduced in January 2013. The session will set the context and background to the introduction of the CIO, explore its potential benefits (and weaknesses) when set against the company limited by guarantee structure and introduce the two constitution models – the Foundation version (where only trustees are members) and the Association model (where the organisation’s membership is wider). Leadership Identity Through Self-Discovery

5.0(1)

By Puritas

This module focuses on developing leadership confidence through self-discovery, emphasising the importance of understanding one's unique leadership style and personal philosophy. Participants will explore their core identity as leaders and learn strategies to enhance their influence, credibility, and relationships within their organisation. Exploring the link between self-discovery and effective leadership, focusing on developing confidence to lead from within. Testimonial: “Without guidance, personal branding can quickly become an exercise in aspiration and competition; letting the carefully curated public personas of others dictate our own validity and definition of success. Clarity on who we truly are, what matters to us and therefore how we position ourselves in the world takes reflection and time. Rachael’s work in this area has inspired the nearly 100 delegates who have been part of our HR Leadership Academy over the past 8 years, and I have no doubt will continue to resonate with future cohorts.” MD, Nina Metson - Suffolk
