One of the most active and welcoming Sailing Club and Watersports club in Berkshire Founded in 1965, Maidenhead Sailing Club has a long tradition locally as a friendly family sailing club where both new and seasoned sailors and paddlers feel welcome. With about 400 members, the club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers, so you can always find a helping hand and a friendly face. Welcome to our club website, here you can find all sorts of information about what goes on at the club. From information about the staggering amount of things you can get involved with to the very latest club racing results. We offer sailing and paddling throughout the year and have activities for novices through experts. So, whether you are looking to relax or race on the water or enjoy our fantastic facilities from shore we've got something for you. We proudly opened our new deck this August and it has fast become a major draw to members to come and enjoy the wonderful facilities on offer. Our Water Activity Weeks have been enjoyed by 60+ youngsters over the two weeks this year through some of the warmest weather in recent times. The lake depth has continued to drop but remains very useable for both sailing and paddle sports with racing continued all through the summer. We're looking forward to rain and the lake depth recovering but our blue dye program has certainly helped fight back the weed. Our bar can be enjoyed each Thursday night and Sunday lunchtime and our Social Saturdays continue deep into September. We provide a safe place for young people in the district to come for recreational activities, computer access, fitness, education, counselling and advice from trained professionals. We also provide an affordable venue for local groups and residents from the district to hire for fitness and social activities. In June 2013, Wokingham Borough Council announced that all but two of their youth centres and clubs would have to close due to budget cuts. On July 2nd 2013 concerned residents and users of the centre came together to form the Twyford Youth Centre Steering Group which nominated seven trustees who, with the support of Wokingham Borough Council, established a new charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) called Twyford District Youth and Community Centre. This was formed in January 2014. Registered charity number: 1155243. The charity has an 'association model' constitution which means that anyone interesting in furthering the charity's purposes can apply to become a member, giving them voting rights at general meetings and at the AGM - to be held annually in November.

With the invaluable support of volunteers and members we care for over 6,500ha of land for wildlife in Surrey. We also work with other organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county and inspire local communities and young people to care for wildlife where they live. The Surrey Naturalists' Trust was formed on 21st March 1959. Over 60 years later our name may have changed, but the motivation that inspired our founders remains the same. Over the years the number of reserves cared for by the Trust has grown steadily thanks to generous gifts of land and the purchase of sites from fundraising. In 2002 the Trust also took on Surrey County Council's considerable countryside estate and now employs over 100 members of staff to care for the countryside and inspire others to do the same - a far cry from our humble beginnings. A group of elected Trustees oversee the governance and strategic leadership of the organisation. Our Trustees are members of the Trust and give their experience and expertise for free.

Civil Defence Ireland is an organisation comprising almost entirely of volunteers. It’s prime role is to give aid and assistance in time of emergencies in support of the professional emergency services. Members attend classes in many disciplines, such as life saving skills, First Aid, Search and Rescue, Fire Fighting, Water Rescue, Radiation Monitoring, Radio Communications, and looking after the welfare of those evacuated during an emergency. Civil Defence has 4,500 volunteer members throughout Ireland. Dublin Civil Defence encompasses all Dublin local authorities, drawing members from all areas of the county. Dublin Civil Defence supports hundreds of community events throughout the year. These include large events such as air shows, tall ships, concerts and festivals, sports events. We also support smaller local events such as parades.
