The family run West Edinburgh Shooting School was established in 1990 by Mark Penman MICSI and Tom Penman MICSI. Since that time the School has concentrated in giving its clients the highest quality of clay pigeon coaching available. All of our instructors are qualified through the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association, the Scottish Clay Target Association, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation or the Institute of Clay Shooting Instructors. Our newly opened West Edinburgh Activity Centre now provides Axe & Knife Throwing and Air Pistol & Air Rifle Shooting. We are starting a new face-to-face session on Tuesday evenings between 7 pm and 9 pm aimed at people making the transition from classes to playing regularly in the Club. The primary aim over the coming months is to give players more confidence to enable hands to be played in under 8 minutes - the club standard is a maximum of 7 minutes per board. These sessions will take place on all Tuesdays apart from the second Tuesday in the month. The play will be supervised with help available. Additional guidance will be given intermittently on aspects of bidding, play and table organisation. Partners and those without a partner are most welcome. Our Deputy CEO, Charlene Tait, is on the Council of Administration for Autism-Europe. We are a not-for-profit environmental organisation, funded by the Scottish Government and European Regional Development Fund. Our structure As a company limited by guarantee, Zero Waste Scotland’s board is comprised of six non-executive directors, one of whom is the chair, and one executive director, who is the chief executive officer. Company membership includes Scottish ministers alongside our non-executive directors. How we are funded We are funded by the Scottish Government and receive funding from the European Structural Funds Programme to help accelerate our circular economy and resource efficiency work with SMEs in Scotland. As a publicly-funded organisation, we are accountable for what we do and we want to lead by example. This is why we publish copies of our financial and environmental performance.

We are often called in where a business has significant challenges and have previously worked with other organisations who have failed to deliver the results required. One organisation we worked with had brought in three consultancies over the last 5 years and each time the consultants failed to listen to the needs of the organisation and tried to implement strategies they wanted to without addressing or agreeing on the objectives required. We bring in fresh perspective as our direct approach enables us to get to the route of the challenges and as we collect evidence, we have lots of conversations and observations to support our findings. Everything we do is in collaboration with the Leadership Team and their staff and this works as we have been where they are in our previous careers so we have empathy and understanding of how challenging and hard all of this can be for the Leadership Team and the people within the business. Our Story I set up Positive Qualities because I was bullied out of my last corporate job and I had a strong desire to make workplaces better. Workplaces where people could come to work and share ideas and feel safe and valued for their contribution and they never need to dim their light because they feel they haven’t got a voice. I started Positive Qualities because I felt there was a real need for it in business.
