We started in 2014 when a few parents came together, after struggling to find the support they needed for their children, who were diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Bringing up children is challenging for all parents, however it’s difficult to imagine the reality of coping with a child with additional needs. Each day brings new challenges, even simple tasks such as washing and dressing can present serious obstacles, which frustrate, delay and upset the equilibrium

Thompson STEM Engagement (TSE) is an independent venture looking to develop workshops and shows to inspire the pursuit and interest of the STEM subjects. We have been in operation for four years, during which time we have performed multiple shows, attended conferences, and even consulted for a few of the UK’s biggest universities. One of our main goals, in particular, is encouraging Welsh medium STEM education. Since the summer of 2020 we have been releasing weekly bilingual videos to our Twitter and YouTube platforms - check them out here. TSE C.B.C. Ltd. is a not for profit community interest company and as such, much of our work has been heavily subsidised by the organisation or indeed completely free of charge. The launch of this website in June 2020 marks the start of a re-structuring process that will focus our intentions going forward into being a fully representative, accessible and inclusive organisation. We decide on our priorities based on hearing your needs and concerns so that we can shape our activities from the ground up rather than from the top down. We do this by consulting with you across a range of platforms via surveys, face-to-face formal and informal events and through our Regional Hearts programme. Our new working groups have been formed by our committee and our members as a means of activating conversations into longer term action plans. They started at our Staging Places Roundtable events at the V&A, at the Prague Quadrennial and at our SOUP events around the country in 2019.
