The workplace is changing, and the role that midlife women play in the workplace is changing with it. With women over 50 currently shown to be the fastest growing sector of the workforce, it is inevitable that your organisation will likely have employees working through their menopause transition. Why does this matter? Because the physical and emotional changes that can affect some women as they transition through menopause can create temporary difficulties which may have an impact on performance. Research has shown that as many as 25% of women have considered resigning as a result of a lack of support from their employer. With an estimated cost of £30-35K to recruit a vacant post, not to mention the loss of intellectual capital, it makes sense for employers to actively support their staff through this natural life stage. And it’s not just women either! We need to consider those who don’t identify as cis women but who also may experience the impact of hormonal changes through menopause, that’s basically anyone who has menstruated at any time in their life including trans men and non-binary employees. And let’s not forget the number of people who experience an early menopause due to surgical or medical intervention, they need support too. That’s why at Floresco Training Ltd our primary purpose is to help employers to raise awareness and understanding of this natural, but often ignored and misunderstood life stage, to ensure that everyone feels supported, valued and heard.

Lighthouse Medical is pleased to sponsor Lighthouse Educational Foundation. The charity’s aim is to provide funding for all types of Primary Care education and ultimately improve healthcare for the Island’s population. They work proactively to fund and organise education/courses that fill the gaps identified by structured training needs analysis. The charity was founded in 2010 and has already helped 1,857 Islanders to further their education, with general and specific training courses. From 2011-2018, the Foundation invested £184,794 in our local healthcare workers. This included supporting local GPs, GPwSIs, Practice Nurses, reception and admin staff. Courses funded so far have ranged from half-day sessions to Masters courses. The charity has supported staff in clinical and non-clinical roles and can help when other funding is limited or not available. The aim has always been to organise courses here on the Isle of Wight, reducing travel time, increasing the ability to attend, and enabling the charity to keep costs down. Much of the funding is donated by Lighthouse Medical, a healthcare organisation that is committed to re-investing in the Island’s Primary Care services. The belief is that by helping to meet education/training needs, Isle of Wight Primary healthcare staff will remain keen, enthusiastic, and able to provide the first-class healthcare services that patients across the Island deserve. This will also help to maintain a sustainable improvement in the Isle of Wight’s health services.

A bespoke twelve-week resilience and anger management programme, for your school. Sessions can be devised to meet your cohort requirements. Our programme supports Y5 & Y6, students who form part of your ‘hard to reach’ cohort, who without preventative intervention may struggle with transition into Y7 and may become at risk of permanent exclusion. Our programme can be tailored for Y7 students to support them further, post transition. Furthermore, we can adapt our programme to engage with vulnerable students who are low in confidence, self esteem and social skills. Week 1 is an introduction to the course to students. Weeks 2 -11 is; A one-hour period of Taekwondo, teaching students the importance of self-discipline and respect, whilst improving self-esteem, confidence and team working skills. A one-hour classroom-based session covering: mental health; mindfulness; sleep hygiene; relaxation & calming techniques; health and well-being; resilience and positive mental attitude. We can also deliver lessons exploring how to be a model citizen, and how to avoid becoming drawn into contemporary youth crime such as: anti-social behaviour; bullying; truancy; knife crime; gangs and substance misuse. We will also deliver lessons covering; parent abuse; internet safety; personal safety; child sexual exploitation (if the school deems appropriate); crime & consequences; and domestic violence. ewbury Speakers provides a safe, supportive and positive learning experience in which members learn to develop their communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Members learn and practice in a friendly, non-threatening environment. They learn and practice alongside other people who are there for the same reason. They are taught by people, who just like them, were hesitant about public speaking but have now successfully developed their public speaking skills. Together everyone grows and develops their confidence and communication skills. And, best of all, they usually have fun as they learn. As a non-profit organisation Newbury Speakers is run by volunteers that give their time to help run the club. Community Outreach Newbury Speakers has been part of the Newbury Community for over 35 years. The club has staged numerous events such as free workshops and a Speakers Corner in the Market Place. Members have given speeches at local networking clubs and facilitated Speechcraft courses for corporations in the area. Speechcraft is a program designed to help develop public speaking skills and confidence in front of an audience. These skills are learnt over six two-hour sessions, one session per week. During each session participants learn and practice speaking and communication skills, and have the opportunity to learn and receive feedback from experienced speakers. The skills learnt by the participants, are not only relevant to public speaking but to all situations where verbal communication is required.

Based in Stockton-On-Tees, Cultures CIC works with individuals and groups from BME, migrant and Refugee communities to improve social, economic and cultural inclusion and build social cohesion. The company is involved in a number of long and short term community projects across the following themes: Improve employability; Promote equality; Break down barriers; Improve access to services and; Delivering cultural awareness raising seminars and conferences. Since 2007 Cultures has become a valued community resource and has established its credibility as a public service provider for out-sourced service provision. We have also been very successful in delivering a number of other projects for job Centre Plus, Learning & Skills Council and Stockton Borough Council via the Five Lamps Organisation and The Taste of Africa event, which is now considered a regional event with an increasing audience, attracting people from as far as London. We understand the difficulties faced by migrants when they migrate to another country and through our services we aim to help them understand the new culture and way of living, the public service structure and their rights and responsibilites.
