Brigstowe’s HIV Awareness Training empowers professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to work confidently with people living with, affected by or at risk of HIV. Our HIV Awareness Training is open to all professionals; from front-line support staff, managers or HR personnel. We have experience in delivering to a range of professionals including: social workers, medics, Avon & Somerset Police, prison staff, mental health care providers, housing associations and other voluntary organisations. A Composers' Viewpoint CDP members are deeply involved in the current huge shifts in music-making. As an organisation we place the emphasis on sound transformation in creative musical contexts. Our aim is to provide new computer tools for sound design, in which the emphasis is on a detailed and flexible access to the inner features of sounds. Our goal is to help composers work with sounds. To this end, numerous programs are semi-algorithmic in nature, such as the segmentation routines and the Texture Set, which shape whole multi-event passages of music – 'semi-algorithmic' in this context means ways to adjust both individual parameters and multiple events over time.) In other words, CDP is not just focused on 'DSP' functions (digital signal processing), nor on sequencing or audio editing, and not at all with sound synthesis: other software handles these things nicely. CDP focuses on transforming existing sounds (musique concrète) and how they might be shaped over time to create anything from a single complex sound or gesture, to an extended soundscape or composition. In doing this, we mainly adopt the composer's viewpoint and seek to create a mutually supportive environment in which practising composers can help each other, both in designing software tools and in using them effectively. We believe in and depend on the crucial importance of the composer's ability to hear music not only before it is written, but even before the means to produce it are available.

The next Show was held on 4th September 1948 in Busby Primary School, establishing the tradition of holding the Annual Flower Show on the first Saturday in September. Membership was around 250, not dissimilar to what we have today The Society continued to meet alternatively in Busby East & West Church Halls. Whist drives, bulb shows, summer outings and dances were very popular, taking their place in the programme alongside the Annual Flower Show and the winter lectures It proved to be a very successful organisation and flourished over the succeeding years. A move was made to Clarkston in 1962 with the name Clarkston added and Clarkston Halls used as a base During its life, the Society has progressed and is now an established entity in the community, supported by local residents and businesses. Links have been forged with like-minded local and national groups through the Scottish Gardeners Forum The Committee numbers fifteen and we are always looking to encourage younger members to get involved A booklet commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Society has been published incorporating local historian, John McVicar’s exciting insight into the foundations of the current Society. You will be as amazed as we were to read that The Busby Horticultural Society was founded in 1881 and mounted its first show in Wilson’s Hall at the end of August 1882 1947-2007 The First Sixty Years is available from the Society.

Inner Flame is a local Swindon-based Charity running programmes for young people who find themselves at a disadvantage in Swindon and Wiltshire. The organisation was founded by David Wreathall in 2008. The passion is to give young people the tools and mindset to thrive in their future lives. Our programmes are based around experiential learning; challenging the young people and inspiring them to grab life and run with it. We are probably best known for the Prince’s Trust Team Programme, which is a 12-week full time employability and self-development programme. It’s an incredible programme and can genuinely be life-changing. We have also developed our own Mental Health Programme: Manage Anxiety Your Way. We created this in response to the increased need (even before the Pandemic) for mental health support for young people. This programme is proving to meet a need and the feedback about the impact on young people is powerful. Around these programmes we run shorter programmes to create a full progression route for young people. Success is measured by hard outcomes, such as young people progressing to the workplace, but also by soft outcomes; such as increased resilience, motivation and development of goals and aspirations. At Inner Flame we always start with the individual. Many young people who come through our doors have low self esteem and feel their lives have little value. We show them that they can achieve and help them start their journey.
