Principal Consultant and Founder - Simon Barnard Simon BarnardSimon has more than thirty years experience teaching and consulting in Innovation, New Product Development and Quality Improvement. An Electronics engineer by training, he spent his early career working on automotive and aerospace control systems for Lucas Research. In 1987 he was trained by Shin Taguchi(of ASI) in Taguchi Methods and was subsequently involved in its implementation within Lucas. He took the opportunity to bring Taguchi Methods to a wider audience by joining ASI in 1989 and quickly expanded his training portfolio into QFD and other Continuous Improvement areas. In 1996 he was trained by TRIZ Master Victor Fey and more recently successfully achieved MATRIZ level 3 certification, following extensive coaching by TRIZ Master Sergei Ikovenko. With colleague Ray Greenall they built up a successful Six Sigma training business that was taken over by BSI Management Systems in 2006. Simon left BSI in 2007 to establish SCB Associates Ltd. North Yorkshire Youth is a charity that dates back to 1941. Lady Crathorne, who was a prominent youth worker in the years leading up to World War 2 founded the North Riding Association of Youth Clubs and used the grounds at the family home, Crathorne Hall to put on activities, mainly for young girls. Lady Crathonre remained closely connected to the charity for many years and was President up until her death in 1965. We have had numerous presidents since but we are immensely proud to have her son, Lord Crathorne as our current president, and long may the family connections remain. Since 1941 we have been called The North Roding Association of Youth Clubs, North Yorkshire Youth Association (Circa 1974), Youth Clubs North Yorkshire (Circa 1987) and are now known as North Yorkshire Youth (Circa 2006) Through our history we have helped 1,000’s of young people realise their potential. Be that through youth clubs, bespoke programmes, volunteering and experiencing the outdoors at Carlton Lodge. It was 1970 when we were given Carlton Lodge to provide space and a place for young people. The then Director worked with young people to develop the site . We had the honour of being officially opened on 6th July 1971 by HRH Princess Margaret and the site has been continually improved since then. The Bunkhouse arrived in 1983, the Stables were converted in 1992 and the Sports building was completed in 1998. We have added Outside facilities in 2006 along with our amazing High Ropes Course and the last major capital investment was our Boat House in 2013. We are the Sex Education Forum. First established in 1987, we have helped support generations of educators and lobbied successfully for the introduction of compulsory Relationships and Sex Education in England. In April 2021 we established ourselves as an independent charity. As the voice of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in England we promote and protect the physical and mental health of children and young people by improving their access to RSE. We bring together our partners and wider stakeholders to share best practice, research, monitor the provision of RSE, explore and respond to new themes and identify gaps. Working together with our partners, members and wider stakeholders is central to everything we do. We support educators with high quality training, resources and a membership scheme, so they can be competent and confident providers of RSE, in partnership with parents, carers, children and young people. We gather international evidence about effective RSE and use this to inform policy and practice and to increase public understanding of the benefits of RSE. Established in 1987, the Sex Education Forum has a long history of influencing policy, that is grounded in the latest research and evidence, and supporting educators with resources and advice. After 34 years of being hosted at the National Children’s Bureau, we established ourselves as an independent charity in April 2021. SALT South West is a Plymouth-based Christian voluntary organisation ( known as SAIFLINE until 2006), offering direct help to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. SALT is a member agency of The Survivors’ Trust and our Co-ordinator is a member of TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group). We are accountable to our Management Committee of five and have a Council of Reference which includes an MP, a Bishop, another Minister of Religion and a media presenter. We are currently a team of ten members, two of whom are counselling students and three of whom are currently paid part-time (Team Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and Administrator). Our volunteer listeners have all undertaken the in-house SALT training, some have various counselling qualifications including specific sexual abuse/trauma related subjects. Some members of our team are survivors and bring with them personal experience and knowledge. Supervision is fundamental to our work and each listener receives a minimum of one and a half hours every four weeks. We are a close team and there is always the opportunity to share and offload inbetween when necessary. (Which is often the case in our field of work). Our Annual Away Day gives us a chance to meet outside of work to share, explore and be refreshed as people, not just as co-workers. Behind the scenes, our 60 prayer partners have the important role of supporting us and we meet together once a year. SALT works with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, age 16 and above. Everyone is received by us regardless of background, belief or behaviour. Our services are free of charge but donations are always welcomed. We do not want anyone to be excluded from receiving good quality psychological help.
