Children love learning outside and at South Downs Forest School we offer a wide range of bespoke Forest School Programmes and Outdoor Learning events to support children and young people from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds with their learning, development and wellbeing. Overwhelming evidence shows that children are often happier learning outside; rich, exciting and stimulating, woodlands provide opportunities to learn a wide range of skills as well as develop emotional intelligence, resilience and well being. If you have a group of children that would like to come and experience a Forest School programme or Outdoor Learning session, we can offer bespoke programmes or events to suit your needs. Welcome to Lifelong Learning at the University of Southampton. We deliver the University's community learning programme, which offers a range of opportunities for adult learners to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge in a range of subject areas. From languages to creative writing and from archaeology to quantum computing you can choose from a diverse range of courses which run throughout our academic year (October to July). Our courses normally run on a weekly basis during the evenings and can be from 6 to 30 weeks in length. In addition to our evening courses we also run a series of themed Study Days. These events generally take place on Saturdays or Sundays and consist of a half or full day of academic lectures delivered by staff or postgraduate students. Examples of past topics are: Jane Austen, 1066, Lawrence of Arabia, the Archaeology of Southampton, Castles, Women and British Film, Stonehenge and Old Sarum. Lifelong Learning is based at our Avenue Campus and most of our courses and events take place at this campus where there is plenty of parking and it is on the U2 bus route and Avenue cycle route. When you study with us you will have access to a full range of learning resources through the University libraries and online. You will receive a student card and email address which will enable you to benefit from a wide variety of discounts and student offers. Have you heard the one about the Finance Director who said, ‘What if we spend money training our people, and then they leave?’. To which the CEO replies, ‘What if we don’t train our people and then they stay?’. Admittedly, it won’t get me a headline spot on Live at the Apollo, but it does point out something very important. Simply this, that ongoing training is very important. Even now. Especially now. An organisation should have learning and development written into its core values. The landscape of work is changing and people need to have skills that will help them navigate that tricky landscape. Time and again, growth and development opportunities are cited as chief motivators at work. This means not only formal training, but on the job development. Imagine a leader who has the courage to support a colleague to undertake a new project, something they’ve never done before and the success of which is unclear. Imagine a colleague who grasps that opportunity to innovate, knowing that there’s a steep learning curve ahead, but that their line manager has their back. Imagine this is your organisation and that both of those valuable people have taken their lead from you. It does take a leap of faith to invest in learning and development, especially of those soft skills. The word ‘soft’ doesn’t help, though, does it, and probably leaves that Finance Director, well-versed in Excel and complex accounting software (very ‘hard’), palpitating at the cost. Author Heather McGowan has relabelled the ‘soft’ skills as ‘uniquely human’ skills. That’s a rather splendid phrase. Unique and Human.

We are a registered charity working to foster earth building in all its diversity. In Lingala, a common language in Congo, EBUKI means 'I work, I dance'; we like that ... Where we started EBUKI started with a meeting, in 2007, of people and organisations interested in increasing and normalising earth in construction. To make earth building normal requires more research, more teaching and training, more standards, more assessment, more information, more networking, more built examples, more experienced professionals, in other words more of lots of different activities! So, we agreed that an organisation, which fostered the use of earth as a building material in all its forms was essential. We have had a great deal of success and continue to grow our organisation from strength to strength. What we do increase awareness about earth building keep our website and social media resources updated on a range of earth building topics provide expert speakers and workshop leaders at our National events arrange information gathering and dissemination work with National and International partners to write, publish and set new standards for earth building techniques develop accredited standards in training for earth builders send earth builders, trainers and assessors for accredited training work to develop a library of information about materials and techniques work to develop a mapping facility of UK and Irish earth buildings act as an umbrella for research, development and practice funding applications participate actively in a European earth building network pursue a range of agendas, which make the use of earth much easier encourage similar earth building organisations in Africa coordinate with joint research (Currently exploring opportunities in India)

From the Headteacher, Michael Scott May I extend a warm welcome to our website. Newport Girls’ High School offers an all-round education with considerable strengths both inside and beyond the classroom. We support students academically to achieve their potential, whilst also developing resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. As a relatively small school, there is a real family-feel to NGHS and our house system affords students the chance to meet peers in other year groups and to participate in healthy competition in a wide range of disciplines. There is an extra-curricular activity to suit all tastes at NGHS and staff work exceptionally hard to provide these opportunities for our students. We also organise a number of key open events during the academic year and welcome visitors to see all that NGHS has to offer. Our curriculum is academically rigorous with all students studying two modern languages in KS3 and separate sciences at GCSE. Some students also study Further Maths as an additional equivalent GCSE. At A-level we offer a full range of subjects to enable progression to university, apprenticeship or employment. Significant support with UCAS applications is available to all. Our pastoral team, comprising both teaching Heads of Year, SENDCO and non-teaching support staff ensure that our students’ individual needs are met and we work closely with families and primary schools to ensure a smooth transfer from Year 6. Newport Girls’ High School was visited by Ofsted in October 2019 for a section 8 inspection. We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status as a result of this visit under the revised Ofsted framework.

Charity No. 1190741 xoball exists to promote amateur basketball as a means to meeting the needs of individuals, enhancing their lives using education and physical training to consequently improve the communities that they live in. It was seen that basketball could do this for a number of reasons; these are illustrated in an All Party Parliamentary Group report into basketball in 2014, which states that “…there is no more efficient sporting vehicle than basketball to improve outcomes for individuals and communities…”. (link) xoball realises that building competitive basketball teams, and consequently trying to win games, is something that will encourage some of the new joiners to remain in the sport, and provide part of the base on which we grow the game, wherever we operate. However, xoball recognises that today’s society is increasingly complex. People’s liberties and development can be compromised by anxiety, isolation or the sheer amount of choices available to them. These can often be exacerbated by pressures such as social media, or the time and financial limitations on those who traditionally provided guidance. Coordinated, sustainable group activities are an effective tool to help individuals to cope with the demands of modern life. Therefore: continued participation will always take priority over winning matches. xoball takes pride in it’s values. The association will remain: transparent – make details of our activities available to our members, wherever it is not unreasonable to do so; dynamic – change our processes and structure if it will proportionately benefit the purposes of the association; outward looking – be highly hospitable to all those involved in the sport, and further our objectives by actively developing opportunities that become apparent, wherever and whenever that may be.

IndoGenius’ work is directed by the firm belief that the next chapter of the human story will in part be defined by the economic and intellectual re-emergence of India and that its global partners can learn from, as well as contribute to, this re-emergence. This belief is reflected in the company’s composition, which combines the talent and passion of Indian nationals who have always called India home with expats from the UK, US, Europe and Africa who have chosen to make it so. In pursuit of these goals, IndoGenius has worked with dozens of US, UK, Australian and EU institutions and their Indian counterparts. This has included providing student immersion programs; conducting research and policy reports; developing free mobile education applications; and other strategic initiatives such as academic and research collaborations, preparing campus development plans, supporting graduate career opportunities, and developing alumni relations.
