Welcome to The Spires College, an 11-18 secondary school with both a comprehensive intake and a selective intake. I am incredibly proud to be the Principal of The Spires College and am privileged to work with such a dedicated team of staff and with so many wonderful young people. Our aim is simple: to make certain that every young person achieves their true potential. We prioritise a love of learning. Our curriculum is focused on the teaching of rich, valuable knowledge and on the skills required to make effective use of this knowledge. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and enjoy sharing their expertise with the children they teach, as well as using their pedagogical knowledge in the classroom to ensure that children learn effectively. At The Spires College we believe that the ability to read with understanding, judiciousness and confidence is one of the most valuable skills anyone can have and so we devote significant time and resources to developing these capabilities. We also value all aspects of education in its broadest sense. Our students are encouraged to engage with as many opportunities beyond the classroom as possible. This includes a very wide range of extra-curricular clubs, teams, competitions and visits but our students also take an active role in shaping the future of the College through a wide range of student leadership activities. Established originally as a Drop in for local children run by local mothers the nursery grew from this into the setting that we have today, incorporating 3 classrooms alongside a dedicated Drop in which runs daily. The nursery is a registered charity and a not for profit organization. The nursery is run by a dedicated team of managers with Trustees and directors that are made up of parents from the nursery. This system allows all parents to get involved in the running of their child’s nursery both on the ground level and in the management side. The nursery is run by Vivien Moxam & Manisha Gorsia who have both been at the nursery well over 15 years, we are local to the Queens Park area and have worked closely with the community. Manisha Gorsia has been the manager for over 13 years and is passionate about the nursery, the children and is always looking at opportunities to build and develop the team and the practices at Hopscotch, Manisha wants all children to leave the nursery with confidence and the skills to go onto school. Manisha runs the team of 20 staff overseeing them on a daily basis with the help of her deputy and room leaders. Vivien Moxam joined the team over 15 years ago while her own children were attending the nursery & has since come on board as a Company Director. Manisha and Vivien work closely together to ensure the smooth running of Hopscotch, with Manisha being child facing & Vivien’s role is to over see the business aspect of the business.

The Company was formed to fill a recognised gap in the market for specialised, relevant, realistic training. Many companies are so worried about being sued that their training has been sanitised to the point where it no longer resembles the subject being taught. In the first aid industry, we believe this in itself is dangerous practice and as such pay particular attention to the statement made in the HSE guidelines whereby: “Training must be made relevant to the client’s work place.” Lots of courses are one course for all, this, we believe, does not fulfill the above criteria and so at ANUBIS we specialise in producing specific courses for specific groups. Our clients include: Doctors and Surgery Staff, Journalists, Outdoor Instructors, Helicopter Pilots and Crews, Expedition Leaders, Environmental Groups, Childminders, Nursery Staff and School Teachers, Pony Trekking and Off Road Vehicle Enthusiasts. As a Company we are approved by FIAB (First Aid Industry Body). All our instructors are able to teach from experience gained whilst dealing with casualties in a wide variety of environments. Although our courses are run in a relaxed informal manner we are always striving to maintain a professional standard, to this end we regularly run in-house training sessions with all our staff and encourage regular attendance of medical seminars and discussions. Mital is a visionary leader, innovator, learner and educator. She founded the multi-award-winning Spark Academy back in 2009 whilst she was teaching as a qualified teacher in schools. As a passionate educator with a strong social conscience, Mital’s firm ethos is about making quality education affordable; so that it provides pathways for social mobility and brighter opportunities in your child’s future. Mital’s own academic journey came with a fair few challenges, which meant that she went through many struggles and coping mechanisms to keep up to speed with her learning. Diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 21, Mital came to understand why she processed information differently. This is why she is an advocate of non-conformist learning techniques that will help any child realise their infinite potential. Mital shares her methodology to learning in her book “Study Like This, Not Like That”, which she has refined over fifteen years, and which earned her the MBA student of the Year in 2021 – an award out of 20,000 students worldwide. Mital not only has a unique teacher’s perspective but that of a learner too! Mital is actively looking at ways to improve the learning experience for Spark’s students and she is a big believer in research and development of the programme to suit not only children’s current needs but also to reduce the future skills gap – ensuring that all children under Spark’s care are future-ready with the skills and strategies to lead brighter and joyous lives.

Founded in 2016, Breakdown Bolton is a community interest company which is peer led by qualified and experienced artists who have had experience of mental health issues. We work in many different art forms and aim to offer our participants high quality arts classes, exhibition, and cultural opportunities. We do this by promoting high level creativity, individual expression, and empowerment through art, in a safe and positive environment for those across the Greater Manchester region. At Breakdown Bolton we focus on increasing accessibility to art for those with lived experience of mental health and substance misuse issues. We are passionate about breaking down the barriers, stigma and prejudice and raising awareness of these issues. Breakdown Bolton can provide a stepping stone towards further artistic development for a person whose education, employment, and creative practices have been interrupted by poor mental health or substance misuse issues. At Breakdown Bolton we have a diverse range of skills within the team which we use to develop and deliver projects of the highest quality. We are professional artists educated at University level, having had visual artwork and writing published and commissioned. Our members have been awarded both individual and collective grants from bodies such as the Arts Council and are Unltd Alumni. In 2017, Breakdown Bolton was nominated for a National Diversity Award. Since then, we have been recipients of a New Art Space through Castlefield Gallery, worked closely with NeoArtists in Bolton, and have forged strong working partnerships with regional arts education organisations such as theatres, galleries, and local community services.
