Edplace

I founded EdPlace because of my experiences at school. As a dyslexic I had a lot of challenges. One of the biggest challenges I faced was being told that I wasn’t smart enough, but I turned this into an opportunity to prove everyone wrong. Looking back, that was made possible by these key things: Support, I was lucky enough to have huge support from my parents. It was their involvement that helped me get the best Hard work and confidence. These two things go hand in hand. I knew I’d put the work in and I believed I would succeed.I founded EdPlace because of my experiences at school. As a dyslexic I had a lot of challenges. Romanian Cultural Centre

romanian cultural centre

London

Throughout the years we have been developing a collaborative network of interests and opportunities for the Romanian community living in the UK, contributing to England's multicultural milieu. We facilitate cultural exchanges between Britain and Romania, constantly aiming to improve our relationship. RCC also provides an up to date Guide containing information about Romanian institutions, organisations, businesses and services in the UK. Our Work We rely on the enthusiasm of our team of volunteers, who get involved in our programmes and help us improve invariably. Moreover, the Centre benefits from a number of voluntary British advisers on dealings with British institutions and audiences. These are friends of Romania, private or public persons from various institutions who have supported the Centre in its endeavours by encouraging us to bring new ideas to life. Besides the cultural activities implied by the name, RCC also plays an active part in the social life of the Romanian Diaspora in Britain. Our History The idea of establishing an organisation to represent Romanians in the UK dates from the '50s, when ACARDA (Asociatia Culturala a Romanilor din Anglia - The Cultural Association of the Romanians in England) was founded by Ion Ratiu and Horia Georgescu working together with various individuals, notably the ladies of the Romanian community. In 1984 the UMRL (Uniunea Mondiala a Romanilor Liberi - The World Union of Free Romanians) was launched in Geneva to unite Romanians from all over the world. Ion Ratiu was elected the first President. From that date (1984) UMRL published a monthly newspaper in Romanian and English, 'Romanul Liber' (Free Romanian), which flourished until 1997. In 1984 a British branch of UMRL was founded, along with branches in 23 other countries. Sandu Pobereznic was elected as the first British President, and succeeded by Nicolae Ratiu in 1992. The newspaper was closed and political activity sharply scaled down after the election of 1996, when it was considered that the objective of UMRL, the restoration of freedom and democracy to Romania, had largely been achieved.

Ashlawn School

Rugby,

As the Principal I am delighted to welcome you to Ashlawn School. I am proud to be part of its heritage, its success and its future: we are a school where excellence is at the heart of everything we do. I believe passionately in education and I know that Ashlawn provides the very best educational experience for all its young people. We are a happy school where high standards and expectations lead to outstanding academic results for all our students. Respect for each other and high standards of behaviour are values which we all share and for which we are all responsible. My colleagues and I are committed to providing an inspirational environment where our students are engaged and enthused, and where learning enables all young people to realise their academic potential and acquire the skills and values they need for life’s journey. Whilst academic success is important we recognise that there is more to education than exam passes; confidence, adaptability, learning skills, creativity and resilience are all necessary life skills. Success is celebrated in all aspects of school life as we recognise the needs of each individual and where everyone really does matter. As a bi-lateral school, Ashlawn is the perfect blend of tradition and innovation. We are a forward-thinking and exciting centre of learning with excellent results and our young people are proud to belong to a school which offers the range of opportunities that our unique curriculum affords. Our record of success is reflected in our A level and GCSE results and we are committed to providing the highest standards of provision. In 2013 we were delighted when Ofsted recognised the school as outstanding in every category and shortly afterwards we were designated a National Teaching School with responsibility for teacher training and supporting other schools in our region. This success is testimony to the aspirations and efforts of our community – our students, their families and our staff.

Little Happy Learners - Sophie David

Little Happy Learners launched in 2019 in a small house just outside London in the UK. A stay at home mum, an ex primary school teacher and early years specialist. Welcome to the Little Happy Learners (LHL) community of parents, carers, educators and fun seekers. We are here to share the wonderful ways you can play and learn with your little ones at home! LHL is here to share a way of life for you and the young children in your care. By introducing some fun, exciting and simple activities to make each day a success. Here at LHL headquarters, we love using things you have at home. We love recyclables and we LOVE to craft Before you get started Here are a few top tips to set yourself up for the most playful household. H Any activity set up is designed to be enjoyed together By giving your little one 15 minutes of your undivided time you will open up opportunities for so much discussion and happiness. (If appropriate and safe to do so, after that 15 minutes your child can enjoy it independently) A Not all activities will be a success straight away, your little one may need some time to get used to the ‘new’ activity. Never just pack away, leave it out and come back to it. P Timing is EVERYTHING. Never plan an activity when your little one is tired or hungry. This will never go to plan. P2 For any ‘messy play’ get yourself a large double fitted sheet. Place a chair leg/ table leg/ large soft animal into each corner. This will create a space to keep the mess in! Y For lots of the resources we use at home here’s a link to my amazon shop, please note this is an affiliate linked storefront and part of the amazon associates programme. This means that each item bought gives me a little commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support.
