For each individual facing either protracted unemployment and/or marginalisation within our communities, this is a tragedy that can impact their entire lives. There are also the wider economic and social costs to consider. There are a great number of specific reasons why people can struggle to integrate and access the sort of job opportunities they would like, but being unable to communicate effectively is the most fundamental barrier of all. Much of our focus is therefore involved in improving communication and language skills. English Language Centre CIC benefits from over thirty years of experience in English language education, training and consultancy, both in the UK and abroad. (ISFA) is affiliated to The Football Association and is recognised by The FA as the body responsible for the development of the game in the independent sector. ISFA’s ethos is that of an educational organisation. It aims to create opportunities for children within the sector by organising and encouraging competitions, representative teams and development opportunities as well as providing coaching courses and conferences for staff. ISFA believes strongly in football as a vehicle for education and in the importance of Respect and Fair Play. ISFA is a small organisation, with four members of staff and limited financial resources. Consequently, ISFA is heavily dependent on volunteer teachers to deliver its programme; there must therefore necessarily be limitations on what can be delivered, and the Association must set realistic targets. ISFA believes its role is to provide quality competitions, representative football, etc., and aims to encourage and assist its member schools to provide the quantity in terms of participation through regional tournaments, block friendly fixtures, internal school football, etc.

Grange Pavilion is a partnership project between residents’ group Grange Pavilion Project, Grangetown Community Action, Cardiff University and Cardiff Council to redevelop a previously-vacant bowls pavilion into a top quality community facility. This space will provide affordable space-for-hire, a community-focused café offering employment and training opportunities to local young people, outdoor gardening, growing opportunities and much-needed public amenities in a popular inner-city park.Between June 2016 and November 2018, residents tested projects in the old building. In that time, Grange Pavilion brought together more than 3,000 residents, was used by over 100 stakeholders, and launched 150 community-led initiatives in response to community-generated ideas resulting in over 1,000 sessions/activities on site. Projects included the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum, a Girls’ Hub, reading sessions, Friends and Neighbours meetings, NHS Mental Health Peer Support Group, a Creative Tech Café, a community Iftar, a gardening club with a local primary school, ESOL classes, a homework club, adult learners’ week activities and careers and role models’ week.

Belfast Tool Library is the first tool lending library in Northern Ireland. Tool Libraries work just like any other library. You become a member and then you can borrow tools. We’re not-for-profit, and are applying to become a charity. The team behind BTL are all volunteers. We’re from lots of different backgrounds, but share the same passion to build community, and to share skills and resources. There’s definitely a few tool geeks among us too - but you would expect that, right? We’re located at the former Belfast Met/Rupert Stanley Building in the old woodwork workshop. After lying empty for some years, the building has been taken over by Vault Artist Studios, and brought back to life. It is off the Newtownards Road and close to the centre of Belfast with parking available. Our goals are simple. We want to: Promote DIY, making and repair skills through the sharing of tools Make Belfast a more sustainable city Create opportunities for learning and development Bring people together, regardless of who they are or where they come from Sounds great, right? We plan to have a community workshop which is open to members, a space for working on your own projects and learning new skills. The workshop will have larger fixed tools and equipment available for members to use. In the future, we hope to run classes in DIY, making, building and safely using tools. Belfast Tool Library received a set up grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, for which we are very grateful. We are also indebted to all our supporters, volunteers and those who donated tools. Our ongoing costs will be met by donations and the support of members.
