The University of Nottingham Gliding Club welcomes any University of Nottingham student or staff member to come and learn to fly. We offer some of the most affordable flying in the country, with flights starting from just £6 and free instruction provided.The University of Nottingham Gliding Club is one of the oldest clubs in the university. We cater for complete beginners to those who have already gone solo elsewhere and want to continue flying at university. Some of our members have gone on to become national, or even international gliding champions, including our founding member, Brian Spreckley. Other members have gone on to pursue careers as airline pilots or roles in big engineering companies, such as Airbus, Rolls Royce and BAE. NU in the university ESLC building Founded in the late 1970s, the aim of the club is to provide flying training and experience to members as cheaply as possible, regardless of whether someone has flown before. Our club owns two gliders, which you can learn more about on our Club Fleet Page. We are affiliated with Cranwell Gliding Club, who flies from RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire and who are themselves affiliated with the RAF Gliding & Soaring Association. The advantage of this relationship is that we have access to their extensive fleet and experienced instructors. We run several expeditions each year, which are open to all members, including our annual Easter trip to Portmoak in Scotland, the Inter-University competition in the summer and various weekends to other clubs. We are also extremely active in the university gliding community, attending several inter university events throughout the year. UoN Gliding is also a very active club socially

Cheltenham Tutors Ltd was founded at the start of the pandemic with the purpose of providing affordable and accessible tuition to students. With schools closing and all learning being remote, we thought that there was a need to offer additional educational support to schools, families, and children. We also thought that this tuition should be accessible to all. We therefore provided affordable online tuition throughout the pandemic and we worked with local schools and families to deliver hundreds of hours of online tutoring. 9am to 3pm each day, we logged on to support students in their learning and to offer 1-2-1 teaching. We greatly enjoyed working with all the wonderful schools, families, and students and making a difference to the education of many children. Now that life is returning to normal and schools are fully open again, we continue to offer affordable tuition to schools and we are happy to take on private clients as well. We offer our tutoring predominantly face to face. What we do We specialise in meeting students where they are at and moving them forward in their learning. Because we are run by teachers, we know what students need to cover in their curriculum, where they should be academically, and how best to accelerate progress in learning. We also believe that all students are capable of making good progress, and that it is normal to struggle and need extra help. The tutoring we provide is professional, effective, and supportive. It starts with getting to know the student and moves onto boosting academic performance, all in an atmosphere which is personal and supportive.

I am honored to serve as Interim Superintendent for the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS); the finest Career and Technical Education program in Connecticut. For over 100 years, this school system has prepared high school students and adult learners with the skills to be successful in high-demand technical careers, while equipping Connecticut business and industry with a talented workforce to support economic growth. I am proud to be a part of that story. For 30 years I have worked in a variety of education roles. Most recently, I served as Superintendent of Bristol Public Schools where I was directly involved in the development and implementation of the district’s career partnership with business and industry in the city of Bristol, as well as a successful school-to-work career pathways program. Through this experience I observed how opportunities in the skilled-trades can transform the lives of students by setting them up for a living-wage career. I am excited to learn more about the opportunities CTECS offers. I believe that educational leaders are in the business of serving people first. Student growth, achievement and outcomes do not happen without a solid school foundation built on trust, seamless and open dialogue, and the willingness to engage in critical conversations. As such, over the coming months I’ll be spending my days in classrooms with students, meeting with CTECS staff, and getting to know our business and industry partners so that I can continue to support the growth of this school system. Whether you are from the public or private sector, from a charity, a museum, art gallery or heritage organisation we can offer you training, facilitation and coaching so you can… Storytelling is all about communication. It’s inbuilt, so why not learn to use it to your advantage to turn ideas into actions and outcomes? We met at university at the tail end of the last millennium, on a theatre studies BA. Josh then worked with vulnerable adults for a housing association, whilst developing his skills as a storytelling performer in museums, festivals and schools. Lily continued post graduate studies at Central School of Speech and Drama and gained an MA at Goldsmiths, while devising theatre productions as a director. Our paths crossed again on a project with young actors in Mumbai where we discovered we enjoyed working together. On our return we started to deliver open storytelling workshops as a means to develop our product and explore its uses and applications. Initially, we thought storytelling was perfect for presentation skills and museum tours. Now we also use it to investigate and build understanding with individuals and in collaborative groups as well as to grow connections, values and relationships. Ben Joiner became one of the core team in 2014. We were drawn to his in-depth knowledge and expertise in voice and body-language and his gift to comfortably take people outside their comfort zone. Over the past couple of decades, we have honed our skills and our love of training and coaching. We have stayed curious, and use that curiosity to help us adapt and evolve how we use storytelling to the benefit of contemporary working life.
