Retune was founded by Tom Ryder. Tom is a musician and journalist, and has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. He was hospitalised for poor mental health multiple times during his late teens and early twenties, which eventually forced him to withdraw from university and begin again from scratch. While in hospital, Tom noticed that patients were finding creative outlets to cope with their predicament. These outlets included drawing, painting, writing poetry, dancing, singing and cooking. Tom wrote songs and, despite those dark times, he realised creativity’s tremendous potential to improve mental health; it is crucial to have an outlet for feelings and emotions. A few years later, Tom started hosting live gigs. He also ran workshops in schools, connecting with young people who were experiencing mental struggles. In 2018, Retune started to take shape: in addition to live shows and schools, Tom now visited prisons and hospitals, and produced online content. Tom’s cousin Kathryn Bailey – a photographer, videographer and all-round creative – joined the project in 2019. As well as sharing Tom’s view that creative outlets are powerful tools for mental wellbeing, Kathryn had a personal attachment to Retune's mission... When Tom was first admitted to hospital, 11-year-old Kathryn was shielded from the truth, as she was considered ‘too young’ to know what was going on. Being involved with Retune allows her to be part of a cause that is close to her heart, especially as Retune’s workshops discuss mental wellbeing with all ages, from primary school pupils to adults. Open conversations around wellbeing are more commonplace nowadays, but there is still a long road ahead. Through its workshops and live shows, Retune is creating a community based around mental wellbeing, underpinned by creativity. When we retune something, such as a musical instrument or a radio, we make small adjustments in order to achieve harmony, clarity and balance. Retune believes that the same theory can be applied to mental health. Harnessing creative outlets that engage the imagination, and following the principles of the SCALES model, can help all of us to make small adjustments. As a result, our mental wellbeing will be more in tune.

The People Speak CIC inspires communities to be creative and provides training and opportunities to people in East London. Makers Quarter was formed in response to a number of issues facing the independent makers of Manchester. High commercial rents, impractical spaces, and isolation are major problems experienced by many. We felt passionately about finding a solution for this and believe that a shared workshop space is the solution. Manchester was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution and sadly over the years industry has been swapped for office space and city center flats. There needs to be a balance to help small independent businesses thrive and we think the Makers Quarter is a great start! Makers quarter will not only be providing space but a creative community and exciting lessons to the public. Having access to a shared workshop, studio spaces and craft tables in the heart of the city will encourage all types of makers to come together. Having tested the water in a small workshop in collaboration with 3space the positive response has encouraged us to open a larger space. We have searched endlessly to find a suitable location for our members and Makers Quarter in now finally a reality! Our 7500sq ft workshop in central Manchester has great transport connections. Cornbrook tram stop is just a 6 minute walk away and a foot/cycle path along the canal cuts through Castlefield locks and takes you straight into town in less than 15 minutes. Makers Quarter is shared between our members and divided up into larger studio spaces, pods, craft tables and a separate wood workshop for all to access. Creating this community allows us to provide a hassle free, creative space at affordable rates. By offering flexible space on both a permanent and pop up basis we aim to support makers of all levels. Anyone can join, whether they are a professional maker, need a workbench for a weekend hobby, or would like to learn new skills. We will be offering classes in all sorts of interesting crafts such as ceramics, woodwork, Upholstery, furniture making, leather work and many more....check on our members page for upcoming classes or to book a slot in the workshop.

Covid Secure Guidance Taking into account Government advice, I have offered and continue to offer my students an online alternative to one to one studio lessons. These live lessons are carried out via FaceTime, Zoom or Skype. These are and remain difficult times with no certainty as to what will happen next. Online teaching is of course, no substitute for face to face tuition. Many of my students have asked me to begin teaching again in my studio. I have therefore decided to re-open the studio, and offer one to one teaching, but strictly following Covid Secure guidelines. My existing students will be aware of how keen I am to ensure that students with a cold or any other illness which may be passed on, do not attend lessons. (After all, I and several of my students rely upon our voices for work). The current situation makes it much more important that we all follow the Covid Guidelines so that we stay safe. Contact me now to find out more. Covid Guidelines if you think that you have a cold/flu, fever or any other illness which may infect others you must not come to your scheduled lesson, but must immediately let me know; social distancing – at least 2 metres separation (3 whilst singing) must be observed at all times; there will be no physical contact (for example to demonstrate breathing techniques); students must enter the studio via the entrance driveway and through the side doorway leading into the courtyard where my detached studio is. (Please note that I am regretfully unable to offer toilet or refreshment facilities for the time being); hand sanitiser will be available and must please be used on entering and leaving the studio; Students are not required to wear face masks (and unless otherwise requested by my student I will not wear one); Whilst I will take steps to follow Covid – Secure guidance, and will keep the studio clean and well ventilated before and after lessons, students must appreciate that I cannot guarantee their safety or be responsible for any infection.

It caters for all type of events, including weddings, birthday parties and annual dinners for the corporates and clubs. The site has a children’s playground and views of Colliford Lake. Guest can enjoy outdoor drinks and meal while keeping an eye on the children at the playground. The site offers free parking space for the guest staying on-site or visiting pubs and restaurant. The campsite is equipped with a shower block and chemical waste facilities for its guest. Separate food preparation is also adjunct with the shower block for its guest use. The site has several electric hookups pitches with hard standing option to hire. There are several glamping pods and static caravans available to rent throughout the year. The area is famous for moor walking, cycling, hiking, golfing and fishing. The colliford Lake is within 7-10 minutes of walking distance, (no direct lake access through property) and A30 is within 2 minutes of driving distance to connect dual carriageway. Plymouth is 23 miles from Colliford Tavern, while Newquay is 24 miles from the property. The nearest airport is Newquay Airport, 19 miles from the site.

A group of ten like-minded dog owners got together and held an Inaugural meeting May 1985 when it was agreed that an application be submitted to the Kennel Club. Trent Park Dog Agility Club was born and it became the first ‘Agility only’ registered club. In the early days, ‘heavy’ homemade equipment was used – can anyone else remember the annual Paint and Repair days – not to mention the Dog Walk with extendable Tri-Pod legs? We were a group of enthusiastic dog owners who shared a passion for the fast-growing sport of Dog Agility and basically learnt as we went along. There were the usual hic-cups to be negotiated along the way but the Club went from strength to strength. An open evening was held in January 1986 with demonstrations and talks to attract new members. Trent Park Dog Agility Club held its’ first Agility Show at Picketts Lock Centre (before the cinema was built) on September 1986. It consisted of four classes: Starters Jumping and Agility + Novice Jumping and Agility. Entry fees were only £1.50 and class numbers averaged between 50 – 60. Our judges were Tony Veal and Yvonne Tate. Trent Park Dog Agility Club went on to hold an Annual Show until September 2013. The only exception being in 1997, when at short notice, the show was cancelled as it coincided with the funeral of Lady Diana, the Princess of Wales. A donation of £1,367.55 was sent to the memorial fund, being the balance of show entries received less requested refunds and disbursements. Club members also travelled to many local shows, usually in convoy, pre M25. In the early days, all clear rounds ran off at the end of the Class to produce the winner. Much has changed since then. We are now part of the Agility Club league. Currently, Trent Park Dog Agility Club has over 30 training members and a wonderful variety of dogs. We have replaced those old heavy pieces of equipment with up to date kit and aluminium contact gear. The arena’s rubber flooring has been replaced with a sandy substrate. Our members are enthusiastic, supportive and social. It is a great place to come and learn together.

The Film and Video Workshop is an educational charity founded in June 1997 by Simon Oatley. Our objective is the education of adults, children and young people in the art of film, video and other types of media. We aim to work particularly with those people who are in need by reason of disability, age or economic circumstance. The company has grown steadily since its formation and is now the largest producer of child and young people directed moving image work in the United Kingdom. Many of the films we have helped produce have been shown in international film festivals and some have won prestigious awards. Each year we work with approximately 1000 film makers and produce some 300 films. Past clients include Tate modern, Tate Britain, The National Portrait Gallery, Arts Council, Film London, Film Council, Skillset, Cartoon Museum, Learning and Skills Council, Tribal Education, London Development Agency, ten of the London councils, BBC, Channel 4 and Nickelodeon. Recent premiere screenings have been held at the London Imax Cinema and the Odeon West End. In addition we provide adult training, specialising in the creative use of digital technology. The current courses selection includes four video production courses, stop motion, animation techniques, after effects, Avid and FCP. We subsidise a selection of introduction courses to enable people to start filmmaking as well as provide CPD for professionals. All our courses have a 40% reduction for concessions. The media centre is open 6 days a week with over 80 weekly users. The company is managed by an unpaid board of directors to whom we are very grateful for their long standing support.
