We are perfectly located in the South Wales countryside with beautiful views and scenery, just a few minutes off the M4 in-between Newport and Cardiff. What better place to engage in creative learning than the living space of yesteryear’s work horses (literally!). Once a dilapidated stable block complete with more than its fair share of woodworm, is now a delightful open learning space for you to enjoy on any of our workshops along with the ‘tack room’ which used to house the tack/equipment for the horses but is now a beautiful space to take a break with a cup of tea and plenty cake during workshops.

Scottish BPOC Writers Network (SBWN) is an advocacy and professional development group for Scottish or Scotland-based writers and literary professionals who identify as BPOC (Black people, People of Colour).* Contact us Frequently Asked Questions Membership Membership is free and open to any BPOC* writer or literary professional who is Scottish and/or based in Scotland and participates in our online or venue-based events or spaces, or publishing or literary opportunities. Membership may be extended to BPOC writers or literary professionals based outwith Scotland on occasion. Commissioned artists will typically be from the BPOC and/or SBWN communities. SBWN may work with volunteers, partners and allies who identify as BPOC, or white, or another racial or ethnic identity. Some events or activities may be open to the general public or the wider literary community. We have adopted a Constitution. Weaving together collaborative literary partnerships, cross-arts co-creation and an intersectional approach to inclusive and participatory programming, SBWN is a sector change-maker, facilitating necessary conversations around inclusive programming in an effort to address and overcome systemic barriers. Professional development programming includes publishing and performance opportunities, workshops, masterclasses, curatorial roles, training and seminars, industry panels and partnerships, feedback and mentoring. Run by BPOC writers for BPOC writers, and informed by member surveys, consultation and feedback, SBWN uplifts, validates and provides safer spaces for marginalised voices, nurturing and promoting the current and next generation of Black and POC writers based in Scotland.

HorseWorld is a charity dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses, ponies and donkeys. The organisation cares for more than 100 horses, ponies and donkeys at its Bristol site and provides after-care and support for around 200 more, who have been re-homed throughout the South-West. The charity also runs the innovative Discovery educational programme. HorseWorld's vital 365-days-a-year animal welfare work is funded by voluntary donations. You can help transform the lives of horses, ponies and donkeys. HorseWorld is not open to the public on a day-to-day basis but it holds Open Days throughout the year. HorseWorld's Registered Charity number is 1121920 Background The charity began life in 1952 as "The Friends of Bristol Horses Society" in a campaign to save the lives of working horses who were rapidly being replaced by motorised vehicles in industry. Under the banner of “Retirement Not Slaughter” - for many were destined for the abattoir - the charity offered a safe haven in Bristol for the big-hearted horses, ponies and donkeys that had worked all their lives on the railways, in the dockyards, the coal mines, the roads and for the armed forces. Decades later working horses are largely a memory of the past. But there is still a very real demand for this work - to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home up to 100 abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses every year. GOOD STUDIO is a risograph print and design studio based in Brixton obsessed with all things print related and RISO particular. Risograph printing has a unique aesthetic invented in 80s Japan as a duplicator for schools and offices, it mimics the screen printing process using brightly coloured eco friendly soy based inks. GOOD STUDIO was set up by artist Joanna Brinton in 2018 with the intention of promoting conversation and exchange via Riso printing. The studio host regular open access workshops and introductory sessions to introduce others to this fascinating process. Joanna has a BA Fine Art Degree from Central St Martins College and a Masters in Book Arts from Camberwell College of Arts and over twenty years of practice in printmaking and book design.

Check us out!The Falconry School in Gloucestershire, UK, is a small establishment dedicated to showing best practices in how to care for, handle and fly birds of prey, for the purposes of falconry. The school has an enviable reputation, and students have come from all over the world to learn about the training and management of birds of prey. Much of our tuition is on a one-to-one basis, enabling students to get the maximum value from their course or coaching. The Falconry School is not a centre which is open to casual visitors. Often such falconry/bird of prey centres provide courses or a Falconry Experience day as an add-on to their usual activities, but these are our PRIMARY activities. Falconry may be defined as the use of trained raptors for hunting, but it is quite possible to keep and fly birds of prey without hunting with them. The important word is “fly”, and everything that falconry is about is the flight, and all our careful management, handling and training leads to this ultimate purpose. Therefore, at The Falconry School, participants, students and spectators will NOT see dozens of these superb creatures locked in cages, as may be found in a zoo or bird of prey centre. Instead, you will see a relatively small number of falcons, hawks and owls, kept in readiness for free flight every day, in the peak of condition. As such, this is more similar to the way a private falconer would hope to maintain their own hunting raptors.

Examples include Norwich City Football, American Football, Marathons, the Royal Norfolk Show, Boxing, Horse Events of all types, Motor Sport (Bike/Car racing at Snetterton circuit and Motocross), Open Air Concerts and Village Fetes, plus much more. Joy is also an experienced Event Manager/Planner (including organising the levels of medical cover required and liaising with the event organisers & other clinical grades). As well delivering clinical skills at events, Joy has a proven track record in delivering quality training for Event Medical teams, plus first aid training to members of the public and the commercial sector. As well as holding the FREC 4 qualification, I also hold the level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), Level 4 IQA, Infection Control, Dementia and the Level 3 Safeguarding of Children, Young People & Vulnerable Adults. My latest new qualification I have passed is L3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD).
