Mapledown School ( Ofsted "Good") is the London Borough of Barnet’s Secondary School for students with Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties. Our students have a very diverse level and range of needs and our aim is to work together with all stakeholders to meet those needs and promote learning. We currently have 91 students on roll across eleven class groups. Each class team has one teacher with three to five Learning Support Assistants. These class groups are located in ‘Learning Zones’. There are three classrooms in Zone One which support students with Severe Learning Disabilities; Zone Two’s five classes cater for students on the Autistic Spectrum and Zone Three is focused on students who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (three classes).

Salon and Training Academy Jess & Billie are the very proud owners of The Creative Quarter, best friends for nearly 20 years we dreamed of opening up our very own salon since we were little girls! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for visiting our website and for being a part of the Creative Quarter Experience. We have been established in the hair and beauty industry for numerous years. Jess is an experienced hair stylist with a substantial clientele built up over years of trading and Billie currently works as Makeup Artist and Microblading Technician; whilst heading up The Creative Quarter Academy. Jess and Billie also have a considerable amount of experience in teaching, training, Ofsted and awarding body requirements and delivering accredited training.

During this time CLC has gained a reputation as a successful, flexible and supportive provider of traineeships and apprenticeships. Funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency, and rated as ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted in May 2016. CLC actively promote partnerships with employers, schools, academies, colleges, local authorities and Job Centre Plus to offer high quality industry based apprenticeships. CLC are passionate about building great relationships and pride ourselves on being adaptable to employers needs. We continue to build and invest in our services, products and apprenticeships, to ensure employers have well trained staff, delivering an excellent service which provides social and economic benefits to both individuals and the wider society.

From the Headteacher, Michael Scott May I extend a warm welcome to our website. Newport Girls’ High School offers an all-round education with considerable strengths both inside and beyond the classroom. We support students academically to achieve their potential, whilst also developing resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. As a relatively small school, there is a real family-feel to NGHS and our house system affords students the chance to meet peers in other year groups and to participate in healthy competition in a wide range of disciplines. There is an extra-curricular activity to suit all tastes at NGHS and staff work exceptionally hard to provide these opportunities for our students. We also organise a number of key open events during the academic year and welcome visitors to see all that NGHS has to offer. Our curriculum is academically rigorous with all students studying two modern languages in KS3 and separate sciences at GCSE. Some students also study Further Maths as an additional equivalent GCSE. At A-level we offer a full range of subjects to enable progression to university, apprenticeship or employment. Significant support with UCAS applications is available to all. Our pastoral team, comprising both teaching Heads of Year, SENDCO and non-teaching support staff ensure that our students’ individual needs are met and we work closely with families and primary schools to ensure a smooth transfer from Year 6. Newport Girls’ High School was visited by Ofsted in October 2019 for a section 8 inspection. We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status as a result of this visit under the revised Ofsted framework.
