bannockburn primary school

The current Bannockburn Primary School building was built in 1965 and has 18 rooms, a support learning base, a nursery class, a large hall, a dining room and kitchen. An extension to the main building was completed in November 1993. This accommodates some of our Early Years classes. In 2020/2021 we will have 17 classes in the school including three classes in our Autism Provision and our Nursery. We have an Autism Provision (AP) for children who have a language and communication difficulty. Whenever possible the children are included in mainstream classes and can be supported by teaching staff and our support for learning assistants.

Currie Primary was officially opened in 2008 following the amalgamation of Curriehill and Riccarton Primary Schools. We had a new annexe built in 2018 and in August 2021 opened a second annexe. We have 20 classrooms, a Support for Learning room, a large nursery, music/drama room, 2 halls, library, Nurture Hub, a meeting rooms, 4 offices and a staff room. Our large playground is a mixture of grass and tarmac.

Lorne Primary School is multicultural and diverse school community in Leith Edinburgh. We currently have 8 classes from Primary 1 – Primary 7 and a full time Nursery class. We are proud of our Victorian building, which first opened in 1876 before being forced to close following a fire, reopening again in 1973. We are proud of our phoenix logo, reminding us about resilience and rebuilding from our embers.

High Scope High Scope is an approach to early years education that has at its core the belief that children gain confidence, initiative and a lifelong love of learning when involved in well-supported activities of their own choosing. Its roots reach back to the open-air culture seen as a way of life in Scandinavia where Forest School began. Reggio Emilia The Reggio Emilia sees children as curious individuals with the power and potential to develop and learn from their environment and the relationships they build with others. Children are viewed as strong and intelligent individuals who should be given every opportunity to reach their potential. Children are viewed as having unlimited potential and being eager to interact with and contribute to the world. The learning process is considered to be of much higher importance than the final product. Teachers create in-depth projects based on observations, information from parents and the interests of the children.
