The London Learning Centre (LLC) has been established by Pooja Talwar and Jackie Harland (from the UK) to provide outstanding expertise, professionalism and consistent support for children and their families through our multidisciplinary team. We offer in-depth assessment and therapy intervention as well as bespoke learning programs from early literacy and numeracy, to study skills, social skills training, revision techniques and international school placement guidance. Our goal is to identify and work with a child’s individual and specific learning, developmental and educational needs, and support their family in seeing their child confidently develop and follow their ambitions. Redburn School is located in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld and services the North Lanarkshire community providing education to children and young people who encounter complex learning needs. The school is a stand-alone provision catering for pupils from age 5-18 and its role is currently 128 increasing to 135 in August 2022 All pupils attending the school have been through NLC needs based pathway review process. The school is currently expanding and through North Lanarkshire Council, grants and fundraising the school has facilities and equipment to support each pupil to realise and fulfil their potential. Working with older children, many of whom lack the knowledge and skills required to make well informed and realistic career decisions, it became apparent that the foundations of career planning needed to be in place much earlier. With the scaling down of Careers Services, the teaching of careers education is arguably falling more and more to teachers who have little time and few resources. Recent reports by Donaldson (Wales) and Gatsby (England) also highlights the link between experiential learning and economic & social wellbeing. WoW was developed to target learners in transition from Primary to High school but has subsequently expanded its remit to cover ages 4 to 19. The project provides a springboard to enable learners to gain valuable career related life skills in a fun and interactive setting. WoW complements many other areas of the curriculum notably, literacy, numeracy and digital competence. The project also provides a vehicle to enable children to acquire broader social and emotional skills by linking with key aspects of the curriculum.

Our Story PiXL was born out of the DfE's 'The London Challenge', a school improvement programme set up by the government in 2003. When the DfE funding for the initiative ceased in 2007, the 50 member schools at that time decided voluntarily, due to the massive positive impact of the initiative, to continue with its model of collaboration around leadership and shared support. Founded by the late Sir John Rowling, PiXL was born. Since then we have grown to be the largest network of its type, working in Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Overseas, as well as working across sectors from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5. PiXL (which stands for Partners in Excellence, but is commonly referred to as PiXL) is known for its aim of wanting to improve life chances and outcomes for young people and its focus on equipping school leaders to make that happen.
