Hi, I'm Emma, I've been working in the jewellery trade for over 20 years now. I am absolutely crazy about all things jewellery. I love to wear it, to make it, to buy it, to sell it. I love old jewellery, new jewellery, vintage finds, minimal jewellery and downright fussy jewellery, mostly I am excited about handmade, unusual jewellery that has been designed with love and attention to detail. And yes, it was me on the telly! Find out about artisan jewellery maker, Emma and the inspiration behind her jewellery. My own work is inspired by texture, poetry, family, I love little details added or stamped on gold or silver and celebrating those we love and the people and places that make us tick. i am all about people and their stories and inspired by the tales that the jewellery we wear tells about us. I love working in silver and gold and also have ventured into the world of platinum on request. I make a lot of silver personalised bangles, necklaces and bracelets. I make jewellery in my very lovely studio, around my young family. Yes, I am also a busy mum. I have 3 children under 11 and am also a step mum to 3 other wonderful people, life is fun in our house! I love to teach jewellery making, I run courses and classes from my studio in Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, West Leeds. Everyone is welcome, complete beginners up to experienced makers, we are wheelchair accessible and our classes are fun and exciting. You can learn from me and my small team how to make your very own jewellery. We run weekend workshops, and also weekly classes, sold in blocks. We can also cater for private parties of up to 16 people. At the age of three I put on my first dance shoes and no one has been able to get me out of them since! From festivals, competitions, shows, pantomimes, and exams I couldn't get enough. I knew from a young age I wanted to share my passion with the world and therefore was determined to educate myself on how to teach performing arts. There has been much research on the positive effects of music for our health and happiness BBC News reported on research from a University in Montreal Canada (Nature Neuroscience study) 'An experiment by a primary school in England has revealed that music can also help in improving academic performance among pupils. New Delhi: It is no secret that music has therapeutic effect and can help students in combatting stress. Studies have also revealed that music helps in improving concentration.' After successfully completing a PGDE Teaching Qualification in Dance at Liverpool John Moores University as well as a Degree in Dance, Drama and Performing Arts at Edgehill University. I decided to open my own Dance Academy focusing on inclusivity, learning new skills, a love of music and fitness. I pride myself on having an inclusive academy where EVERYONE MATTERS! I continue my professional development in working with children and young people as I am passionate about each of my pupils reaching their individual potential.

SOPHIE RAE IS A MURAL ARTIST WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN BRISTOL, LONDON + THE SOUTH WEST SPECIALISING IN BOLD, COLOURFUL, BOTANICAL, ABSTRACT DESIGNS Sophie Rae loves gliding a paintbrush across a smooth surface, transforming bland grey walls into beautiful works of art. It is truly where she gets in the flow. She loves working on walls outside and in, large scale murals as well as smaller ones. She’s painted murals in gardens, cafes, bars, restaurants, offices, schools, shop and high street facades and hoardings, to name a few. Drawing inspiration from plants (glorious plants) and enlarging, and playing with abstraction until a sweet balanced composition emerges. As well as mural painting Sophie creates beautiful prints, lovingly handcrafted, without using a press. Shapes are sketched and refined, then cut by hand with a craft knife into stencils. A roller then applies ink in the gaps. This helps give each print its irregularities. If you’re after learning from Sophie Rae she can be found sharing her unique printing technique, inspiring and igniting creativity through (fairly) regularly teaching workshops. Once a month at Kiln Workshop, in Bristol and now and again at schools and colleges across the South West, sometimes even further! Check out the workshops page.
