weaversbazaar came out of a shared passion for tapestry weaving when Matty Smith and Lin Squires met for the first time on the 2008 West Dean College Tapestry Summer School. We had both been experimenting with art, craft and cloth weaving and loved using yarns in creative ways. As we progressed through that hot summer week, weaving and talking and talking and weaving, we not only discovered many shared life experiences but also a common sense of fulfilment in the process and outcomes of tapestry weaving. However, once away from West Dean, we faced a serious challenge - how to find high-quality yarns in just the right colours needed for the tapestries we wanted to weave. After much research, a supplier of high-twist worsted yarn was found and then a dyer who was able to match-dye from just a one-inch colour sample...and at that point, we began to think about whether this would be a product and a service that other textile artists would be interested in: weaversbazaar was launched! The products and services we offer have grown in popularity: our original range of six colours have grown to over 200.The fine 18/2 yarn we started with has been complemented by two medium-weight worsted yarns (7/2 & 9.5/2). In addition, we have extended the range of yarns offered to include both dyed and undyed Nettle, Silk and Linen. We commission the manufacture of equipment that cant be found else where and a year ago took on a studio space in which we run workshops. In doing all these things have establish relationships with diverse textile artists arounfd the world and to communicate regularly with our growing community; sharing information and news that we hope both interests and informs. And our own weaving has continued to develop. Lin and Matty are both active members of the British Tapestry Group, the American Tapestry Alliance and the Canadian Tapestry Network and relish opportunities to get together with other tapestry weavers and textile artists to share ideas. Everyone who contributes to weaversbazaar is a textile maker. Matty retired from weaversbazaar in April 2020. But we continue and Rachel Hanney has joined Lin to continue to develop weaversbazaar. Our mission remains to be the place to find quality yarns and reliable, to provide a personalised service and to facilitate creativity and especially Tapestry Weaving as a contemporary art form.

Our normal playgroup Stay and Play sessions are now running every Monday morning, 9:30 - 10:45 (except bank holidays). It's fantastic to see the children in the hall! Our Facebook page Parsonage Lane Play Group has updates (e.g. if we ever have to cancel a session) so do have a look there for the latest news. A session costs £2.50 for a family or a childminder: you can pay by cash or card as you come in. No need to book, turn up any time during the session. Feel free to come in early if you're happy to help put toys out! Now that playgroup is back up and running, the toy library has retired. We still love the concept! - we just don't have the capacity to run both playgroup and the library together. We're so glad we ran the toy library, and very grateful to everyone who joined us to share toys during the strange times. Special thanks to everyone who donated toys - they're still in excellent use in the playgroup or at home with families. And thanks to all of you who helped us ease gradually back to full-scale playgroup sessions. It's good to be back!

At IPC we have been organising in-service teacher training courses for more than 25 years. In that time we have welcomed more than 10,000 teachers to Exeter from all over Europe. In spite of the very sad news of Brexit and the UK's withdrawal from the Erasmus + Porgramme with which we have worked for more than 20 years, we welcome groups of teachers with alternative funding. When I first heard that my grant was approved, I felt the luckiest person in my city. Because I would be the first English teacher in my small hometown who was able to visit England and get an academic training there. My teacher training course with IPC Exeter was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life and thanks to IPC Center and its marvelous trainers I feel confident enough to set on a path to a new life in an English speaking country soon. IPC Exeter made me dream more. Whenever I implement the activities and techniques which I acquired in the IPC Center in my classes, I feel gratitude for all the IPC instructors deeply. My Journey to Coaching From that menagerie of titles you might say my journey has been unconventional. It’s quite the ‘hyphenated’ career (a rather accidental blueprint for the Millennial generation). You might think that it makes sense for ‘someone like me’ to have this choppy path - I’m outgoing, outspoken and, to some, outlandish. A typical ‘actor type’ #eyeroll... but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been seduced into ‘taking the road more travelled’ in my time. In fact, I gave up acting and dedicated ten years to a ‘sensible’ income stream. Which saw me sit in a world where I didn’t belong and tried to fit in for ten. years. Sigh. Then two things happened, two nights in a row, that made me stop in my tracks. My niece was born. Ruby Amelia. Light of my life. And my friend died at the age of 43. Bowel cancer. It had been a brutal battle. I learned both sets of news sat at my desk at midnight in a central London architectural studio; with spreadsheets open and a half written proposal to win the most boring work imaginable. And just like that, the click happened. I chose no. Not on my watch.
