Supported Contact Services For young people growing up in our care system the time spent with family is often an infrequent and special occasion. On average a young person in long-term foster care is likely to have the opportunity to spend time with their parents and siblings four to six times per year. It is often hard for families to come to terms with the fact that they are not able to live together- it is vital that when they can spend time together it is supported, constructive and safe. We offer a choice of activity based environments for our supported contact sessions, our staff provide support and encouragement for young people and their families to engage in a range of activities, strengthening relationships and providing guidance where needed. This results in everyone getting a positive experience from the time spent together and the activity focus can help to detract from painful memories.

Born to Carry was born out of the need to bring together excellent trainers under one umbrella, providing a high standard of training while allowing individual interest and skills to flourish. Community – We provide support to our trainers and learning opportunities for each other. We pride ourselves on the provision of excellent Babywearing Peer Support courses and the friendly supportive network we have built (and continue to build) for our trainers and our Babywearing Peer Supporters. Accessibility – At Born to Carry we believe that everyone who wants to learn about carrying should have an opportunity to do so. All of our trainers and our coaches are able to adapt to meet individual needs. Inclusivity – Born to Carry continues to work towards better understanding of inclusivity in our industry and beyond. We are open to continuing to learn more and actively working on being the best we can be. Growth – We recognise that no one holds all the answers and strive to continue learning every day. We encourage further study and incorporating new understanding into our courses. Family – Born to Carry trainers and coaches put the needs of infants and their caregivers at the heart of all decisions we make. My name is Louise – I’m an Expressive Writing practitioner based in York. My passion is for writing with people from all walks of life, helping them to express their unique experiences and perspectives. I’m a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (English Literature MA Hons, Literature and Modernity MSc), and the Metanoia Institute (Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes PGDip). I’m a member of Lapidus, the international words for wellbeing association, and recently delivered a well-received presentation at their Creative Bridges Conference with the Metanoia Institute. I have previously spoken to various audiences about my work as an Expressive Writing Practitioner, including Medicine Unboxed: Students, and the Glagow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network. I’ve recently completed a year-long residency at Edinburgh Headway Group, facilitating a weekly writing group for people with acquired brain injuries. This has culminated in a publication of the member’s poetry, which we hope will be officially launched in the near future! I have also delivered writing sessions for MOOD (Mental health Options for Older adults with Depression) in West Lothian, before relocating to York. When I’m not facilitating writing groups, I can also be found teaching Pilates classes around the city! Though this might seem an odd combination, I find that both provide fantastic tools for mindfulness, self-care and well being.

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the School of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, working on Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Robot Interaction as part of the Human-Centred Computing Research Group and member of the new Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Human-Machine Systems (IROHMS). Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute, University of Nottingham, I worked in the area of Human-Robot Interaction and Human-Computer Interaction. Also, I was part of the EPSRC project "Autonomous Internet of Things", at the Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham. My research focuses on human-robot collaboration, human-computer interaction, Internet of Things (IoT), and a socially responsible approach for designing technology. I am particularly interested in understanding the impact of technology through a user-centred research focus in different contexts, i.e healthcare, domestic environments, factory domains, and the global south. My background is in Computer Science, I received my Ph.D. at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, working at the HumaLab research group, during that time I explored: The impact of novel interfaces to support the self-report of emotions of informal caregivers/unpaid carers. How digital skills affect preferences of interfaces: Tangibles, Mobiles, and Ambient. Technology and social network use in complex contexts, i.e mothers of children with chronic illness, informal caregiver/unpaid carers of dependent elderlies, and isolated caregivers.

Read More Recently he has been involved in a number of ‘LNG Terminal User Agreement’ (TUA) negotiations throughout the EU, Asia, South and North America. In addition, Mike has been advising clients on depleted field, and salt cavity gas storage projects in the UK, Netherlands, Germany and elsewhere in the EU. Typical clients include LNG suppliers, buyers and terminal operators, gas producers, regulators, large power generators, gas marketing companies, and large industrial consumers. Mike works throughout the EU and elsewhere in the world including, India, Nigeria, Libya, Singapore, Bangladesh, Canada, and South Korea. Current projects include undertaking a major feasibility study regarding the role of LNG in facilitating market entry into an EU gas market, developing a market monitoring regime for an Asian gas market and assisting a client in negotiating a TUA. Mike started his career at British Gas plc designing, building and maintaining the high-pressure gas network before becoming involved in the development of the competitive gas market in Great Britain. As a commercial negotiator Mike led contract negotiations worth hundreds of millions of pounds.
