Loch Ness

I grew up in Nairn, A lovely town in the North East of Scotland that boasts a stunning beach and sea views over to the Black Isle. I loved art in school and was lucky to have inspirational art teachers in high school. I spent a year at Inverness College getting an art portfolio ready for applying to art school. Art school never did happen and instead I started work full time in a porcelain factory, life then took over and art was put on the back burner for many, many years. My career included working in primary schools and nurseries where the highlight of the job was art classes with the kids! Around 2014 I got my sketch books out again and started dabbling with different mediums. I was introduced to needle felting through a colleague at work, and the rest is history! 8 years on I feel very luck to spend my entire working week making and selling my art, currently from my lovely wee gallery in the heart of the village of Drumnadrochit. I also supply printed versions of my work on a range of home and gift ware to shops all over the country, this helps to get my images seen by a wider audience and in turn brings in commission work. Being creative is something I can’t live without. I feel like a piece of me is missing if I don’t have some project on the go. Art is my passion. The Arienas Collective is a creative workshop hub based in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town. The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Its name comes from Loch Arienas, a beautiful and remote spot in the Morvern area of the Scottish Highlands. We believe that engaging in creative activity is good for our health and wellbeing. Our workshops suit beginners, returners and those who want to challenge their own creative practice. Group sizes are kept small, so that our artists and makers can give you the help and support you need to get the most from your experience. Join us to release your inner creative and you will leave having learned new skills, made new friends, and with a finished piece we hope you will feel proud of. Langport

For Every Cloud was established by Donna Vale in 2013, a creative venue based in Langport, a small town in the heart of the Somerset levels. Having graduated with a first class honors degree in art and textiles I wanted to create a space where people can learn, have fun, relax and make friends, this is really important but I also wanted an environment where visitors wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. My business mission statement ‘where friendship and creativity meet’ sums up the ethos of what we do at For Every Cloud. A shop and gallery stocking local art and craft features alongside my own. Workshops are held in the gallery space and studio, which is also used to teach screen printing. Both spaces can be hired by tutors and artists alike utilising their skills to teach popular classes such as needle felting. The workshop list is varied and attracts people from as far as London, France and Denmark who come with friends and family to stay in this beautiful part of the country, booking days to make and take… and of course have tea and cake. From experimental textiles to bookbinding, etching with Perspex to calligraphy, there is something here for everyone. I work alongside local B&B’s and cafes to provide an all round experience, offering bespoke events for hen parties, corporate functions and children’s birthdays and more recently, a summer school for adults. As well as workshops I create bespoke calligraphy and stationery for weddings, sublimation printing for personalised gifts. A signmaking service is also available for all your business and personal needs. Whether you need a new shop front or graphics for your vehicle, we are happy to help with the design and installation.

Our creative space in our purposefully designed studios in Golborne nr Warrington offers Pottery classes, Art/ Crafts Workshops and Mindfulness sessions ( Pottery and creativity for Health and well-being ) plus Alternative Ceramic Firing such as Raku and saggar firing. We also provide fully equipped studio space for supported sessions. This enables those with previous handbuilding experiece to work independently on their own projects with a technician/ teacher on hand for technical / glazing advice / support. Our studio can be hired for running your own ceramics / Art/ Craft Workshops. We can also arrange private individual/ group bookings. The purposefully designed space is comfortable and welcoming and warm, with a nurturing and creative atmosphere. We are passionate about enaging people of all ages in ecological issues, natural history and wildlife. We run Community Events such as Moth Breakfasts (opposite) and Community Mothing and have run courses for schools, youth groups, community organisations and home schoolers. We have a multitude of illustrated talks which have gone down a storm at local gardening clubs and Women’s Institutes. We even appeared as a guest lecturer at Birmingham University – examples are listed here The Nomadic Museum of Natural History is a combination of street theatre and education tool. Formulated out of an idea of a ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’ and the plethora of natural history items in our house it slowly became a 1m long transportable natural history museum. We have since taken in all over the country to festivals, events and private functions. For more detail click here Environmental Consultancy Our resident ecologist Tim has carried out a wide number of projects over the years. Primarily a botanist he has developed skills as an all round naturalist. He has been commissioned on work involving Newt and reptile relocation and survey work at Moredon Park, Swindon Bat monitoring on the Bats in Churches project, Herefordshire Meadow restoration projects in Peterchurch, Herefordshire Badger mitigation work at Snodhill Castle, Herefordshire A summary of his skills is available here Teaching Trees For over 20 years, Teaching Trees been connecting schools with local woodlands across England and Wales. We have been employed to run the programme for Herefordshire and Worcestershire which we have done since 2017. It is funded by the Royal Forestry Society and aims to connect children to woodlands and get them to understand the trees, wildlife and production of timber that are essential for all our health. For more details please visit their website. Traditional Crafts We can offer a range of traditional and modern crafts. However we are experts at introducing people to Wool craft and tour the country as the Woolly Circus. All aspects of wool are covered: wet felting, needle felting, weaving, spinning and preperarion of fleeces. We also offer Green Woodworking courses which include Whittling to make spoons and other items from greenwood with axe, knife and crook knife. We are adept at many crafts and in the past have run workshops in knotwork, origami, willow weaving, pewter smithing with cuttlefish, sewing, leatherwork, stone age craft, decoupage and home made toileteries. We are available to run craft activities at festivals, events, parties and groups.
