After 34 years working as a graphic designer/illustrator and photographer, I made a career change in 2018 to concentrate on my love of art, crafts, making and printing. Natural forms/plants, landscapes and architecture are my favourite subjects to work with but nothing is out of the question if it inspires me. Gel plate monoprinting allows me to work with all of these in various combinations, printing onto gift tags, envelopes, glass, wood, fabric and large format paper. I also eco-print using leaves, flowers and natural plant/vegetable dyes, but am also a big fan of using commercial small batch dyes for quick results with fabrics. The ‘making’ aspect of my work allows me to produce small bespoke items. Brooches are a favourite, with each one being hand painted and therefore a one-off (even if the colour way is similar). My latest are formed from a birch plywood base, which I choose to source externally rather than make myself, and therefore help to support another business. I also enjoy teaching and really love seeing others learn something new and take home the items and skills they have acquired.....hopefully with the inspiration to do more! The photography side of my work still ticks over in the background with images and items that I sell on Redbubble. I have also remained a contributor to online photo libraries including Dreamstime and Adobe Stock. Commissioned work is something I take on now and again when time allows. Please email me if you have a request you would like to discuss.

We offer online courses in Connecting with Nature for Wellbeing. To be kept informed of future course dates, please register interest here [https://feelgood-forest-bathing.com/register-interest]. Forest Bathing is a modern approach to the ancient Japanese art of Shinrin Yoku - connecting with nature through our senses. We approach nature, we slow down, and we pay close attention to what we are noticing. Research shows it has remarkable benefits for both our mind and body.  It’s rapidly becoming popular worldwide as a powerful way to reduce stress, improve our wellbeing, and to rediscover our relationship with the natural world. Best of all, it’s lots of fun! Our interactive courses offer students weekly activities to practice in their neighbourhood. They can share the journey with their classmates in our online community, and are fully supported by the course creator. By the end of the course they will be independent Forest Bathers, with all the skills they need to continue connecting with nature, and developing their own unique relationship with the natural world, no matter where they live. The course is accredited for CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Students can earn professional Learning Credits, whilst learning the core skills of nature connection to adapt and apply in their own field of work, including education, social and community work, health care and mental health support. After leaving art college with a diploma in Art and Design, I left the world of art and spent the next 20 years working in marketing and account management, and bringing up my son. I didn't have much time to dedicate to my love of art, but now my son is much older, so I have more time on my hands to create the art that I love. I started out painting flowers and landscapes, which I shipped all over the UK and USA and a few even went to Australia! My love of animals has always been there, I've had horses and so many dogs and cats from being really young, so it was only natural that animals feature regularly in my art. My artwork has more recently turned towards painting dancers, landscapes, and the beach too. I love to paint in watercolour, in acrylics or in oils, and regularly create different collections in these different mediums. I set up Healds Green Gallery, named after the converted church that we currently live in, and run workshops from the gallery in Chadderton and also from locations in Cheshire too. We have classes starting in January in Tatton Park in Knutsford which is such a beautiful place to visit! We run watercolour and acrylic classes and sometimes branch out by getting other expert tutors in to provide glass craft and pottery workshops too. All of our classes are perfect for beginners or people who have always wanted to try painting but don't have the equipment, or never get round to it at home. Having had young children, it sometimes feels quite self-indulgent to spend time doing something that is just for you, but you deserve that time. I love every minute I spend drawing and painting, its time spent solely concentrating on just that, and not worrying about other things. My aim is to share my love of art to everyone and to make you all feel good enough to come along and try it out. You don't have to be the next Rembrandt, just come along and enjoy the time. I hope I can tempt you to want to try it out yourself and join us on one of our workshops!
