WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. Check out our Instagram to see photos of some of the animals who make their home here. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people. We take seriously the responsibilities that come with our belonging to a very special section of Scottish society, to men and women who, over the centuries, have faced both natural and man-made adversity and yet maintained a proud tradition and a distinct, but open, culture. The Alamiyah School stems from a project which began in 2005 with a determined group of home-schooling parents who were eager to create a positive learning environment for their children; one that would foster not only a love of knowledge but give the children a moral framework and nurture each child’s unique genius. The project was subsequently joined by a group of educational professionals and evolved into the Alamiyah Pre-school. We registered as an independent school (Alamiyah School) in 2017 allowing us to cater for school age pupils. The school now caters for pupils of age 3-11 years till the end of the primary age range. The Alamiyah School is inspired by the Prophetic Tradition and will use a curriculum infused with the prophetic stories, arts and sciences. The Montessori approach to early years is the framework upon which the school is based, thus creating an educational experience based on ancient wisdoms and modern discoveries. The Montessori approach creates an environment that offers each child the opportunity to express and develop their individuality and their innate need to learn. It is based on the natural laws of human development (fitra) confirmed by scientific advances and is therefore perfectly in line with a prophetic model for education. The curriculum is child centered, encourages independence and fosters empathy and compassion. The project is lead by an enthusiastic group of teachers trained in the Montessori approach, with many years experience with young children. Our teachers are professionals in their field and have a deeply rooted interest in education. Each of them has come to appreciate the importance of the early years learning in a child’s education and development.

Stronger together . . . every child in a great school Welcome to Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST); a tight-knit family of schools based around natural geographical proximity in the South West. Initially formed as a small multi academy trust of only two schools in 2011, the Trust has experienced several iterations of growth and change. In essence, WeST as we recognise it today, was launched in September 2017 with the ambition of delivering exceptional education for 2-19 years olds with the additional ability to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate study through The Learning Institute (TLI). Whilst school trusts are now common place across the educational landscape, WeST significantly differs from many by not only having a Teaching School but through its Higher Education provision via TLI. The WeST family now extends to 27 schools of which 8 are secondary and 19 primary. All 19 primary schools naturally transition children into a WeST secondary school, an area of work we wish to further strengthen as our work matures. WeST holds a firm belief in giving each child every opportunity to learn and succeed in all that they do. Whilst we are a family of schools who share common values and beliefs, all our schools are unique and hold their own identity. Shane has been involved with the martial arts since the early eighties. He started studying martial arts by learning Pentjak Silat Perisai Diri in 1983. He then moved to Chow Gar Tong Long Kung Fu with the Australian School of Kung Fu and Tai Chi with Si-Fu Tony Conley in 1986. After training full time, and becoming a senior instructor, he started teaching Tai Chi classes full time in 1990, mostly around the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Redlands and Ipswich. The club was originally called Powerline Health and Lifestyle, then after several years it changed to the Imperial Tai Chi Academy. The club Si-Sook Kung is Denis Sue -Tin and Si-Fu is Guy Sue-Tin. Studying Chinese medicine for four years, lead Shane to a greater understanding of the need to promote the natural benefits of the practice of Tai Chi. Body, mind and spirit are brought together by Tai Chi which generates a feeling of good health and vitality. The martial arts component of Tai Chi reinforces good health, both mental and physical, by promoting exercises which strengthen the body and promote overall fitness. So for Shane, Tai Chi became a relevant and meaningful activity for all ages. Shane has been teaching in the community for over 30 years and is proud to be able to make a difference to people's mobility and health. He believes it is particularly important for our seniors to continue doing some form of exercise, and Tai Chi is ideal, as it provides a gentle, slow deliberate movement that is adaptable for varying levels of mobility and fitness.

The birds are chirping, the gentle wind rolls across the hills while wellington boots search for puddles. The woodland has been checked and the equipment is ready to be taken with us, our focus in on the wellbeing, physical and emotional, of each person within our community. Gathering together, we check in on how each person is feeling and what they wish to explore during their time in nature. We introduce new ideas and invite them to engage our help when they wish to. The woodland space is a blank canvas, full of textures and materials to enrich the senses and stimulate the learning journeys that we will all undertake. As leaders we have both an idea for the direction of the day should learners need us to provide this for them, but also understand the importance of encouraging them to decide their own direction. During this time of exploration and discovery, our role as a leader is to provide the nurturing they need whilst also encouraging them to stay with challenge and to make sense of the experiences they have.
