Jenni Dunman is the winner of 2020 awards from Most Inspirational Woman In Franchise and Best franchise UK Jenni regularly features on TV, stage and on front pages of business magazines and newspapers. She has a shelf full of business awards and was in the top 100 UK female entrepreneurs list by F:entrepeneur as well as being a best selling author in the book ‘Inspirational Women Of The World’ “My life purpose is to save lives” Prior to creating her business Jenni was a police officer in London and experienced a vast number of real first aid emergencies including treating casualties at Edgware Road tube station during its bombing in 2005. In 2014 Jenni (a mum of 3) was sitting in a coffee shop chatting with a friend when her friend’s daughter choked, being an advanced first aider, Jenni knew just what to do. She quickly stepped in and successfully removed the blockage and the little girl recovered perfectly. It was this moment that she realised then that first aid was not something regularly offered to new parents and that so many parents didn’t have basic first aid skills that could so easily save their child’s life. When researching suitable first aid training classes she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market who often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni felt she wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered rather than terrified and intimidated. Jenni has grown her business from table top to a being multi-award winning franchise with trainers running their own successful Daisy businesses UK wide. She is considered a paediatric first aid expert. She has featured in numerous publications, has a huge celebrity parents portfolio and volunteers her time at many national charity events. Jenni says “We train thousands of parents every year and when you get that call to say a parent saved their child’s life thanks to our class, that is the most unbelievably emotional feeling. We are all so passionate about the importance of first aid and absolutely love what we do.” Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid courses designed specifically for parents and child carers. In a two hour class, which takes place in the attendees own home or local venue, the world of emergency first aid unfolds, as parents, grandparents and care givers interact and learn the skills they need to save a life and to treat the most common accidents and emergencies. Babies and breastfeeding are very welcome too. If you are interested in taking one of our paediatric first aid courses, please contact your local Daisy First Aid trainer. We serve many areas

We have a very clear recognition here between teachers and pupils that we are on the same side, we are working together. We all share the same vision to do our best to ensure that everyone achieves their full potential in the time they are in the school. Queen Elizabeth Grammar School is about taking the best aspects of the traditional grammar school ethos and blending them with the most useful elements of good practice in modern education. The grammar school ethos is about offering an academic curriculum, encouraging our pupils to have high aspirations and working in a disciplined environment which has a high regard for the community, for honesty and mutual respect. There is considerable extra-curricular provision in sport and the performing and creative arts. We also have an extensive programme of educational visits. ‘Preparing our students to succeed in tomorrow’s world’ is our ethos statement. This is achieved in a happy, safe culture where students and staff work together towards shared goals. Academic outcomes at both GCSE and ‘A’ Level are excellent and are well above national averages every year. Students also excel in sports and the arts, with a rich array of extra-curricular activities on offer to all year groups .The musical drama productions and sporting achievements are particularly impressive and indicative of what our students can achieve beyond the curriculum. The dedicated and committed staff at QEGS bring out the best in every student. Students are presented with many opportunities and encouraged to be aspirational in everything they do. All staff work closely with parents to ensure that students get the right level of challenge and support to flourish. Additional support is always available through our excellent pastoral system, where necessary. The school has been graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted at our last inspection, but we are never complacent about this and are constantly striving to raise expectations and achievement, for all members of our community. Tradition is important at QEGS and our ethos is infused with the traditional values of respect, honesty, responsibility and self-discipline. At the same time we are preparing our students to excel in the 21st century with its many and varied challenges. We make effective use of the latest technology and are constantly developing our learning resources and pedagogy. A new suite of classrooms for the Modern Foreign Languages Department opened last year, for example, with the latest interactive facilities to aid student learning. Queen Elizabeth Grammar School is a thriving community where every student is valued and every student succeeds. If you would like more information, or to arrange a visit, please contact the school.

Yoga with Chet

Yoga and meditation makes me feel strong and in tune with my spirit. For thousands of years mankind has praised and celebrated our spirit. But modern society seems to have cut our spirit connection and the material realm has taken over. “Yoga is a very practical and effective way to rediscover and understand ourselves, and strengthen our bodies. I want to share this with my students. It’s important to have a place where we actually have the time to learn about ourselves, have a good stretch and everyone leaves the mat ready to tackle anything with a clear, calm mind!” Chet is a dedicated hatha, and vinyassa flow yoga teacher. She did her teacher training in Goa, India, with Mohinder Prassad of Mahi Power Yoga. She has a worldwide-accredited yoga teacher training qualification and is a member of the Yoga Alliance (the largest international community of yoga teachers, schools and advocates). Her journey started studying meditation and yoga at the age of 18. As many people know, yoga originated in India. A spiritual experience led her to Osho’s ashram in Pune, India, at the age of 21 where she studied more yoga and dynamic meditation. She has since spent many years training in Shaolin Tiger Crane Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Chi Gung with the Nam Yang Pugilistic Association. She has taught both adults and school children, performed in South East Asia and at the Chinese New Celebration in Trafalgar Square, London. Some of the meditation teachings in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali were later used in martial arts. Kung Fu was derived from yoga and Chet was lucky enough to find a genuine, traditional kung fu art. Her amazing teachers, Master Iain Armstrong, and Grand Master Tan Son Tin, took her to British national championship in four years where she won a Gold medal for her kung fu routines. In recent years, she has concentrated on yoga, studying hatha, vinyasa, yin, kundalini and aerial yoga. She has always been interested in Asian arts and doing things that seem impossible. As well as this, she has enjoyed a varied career, including a media career for over 15 years in PR, TV, and radio. Chet understands working under pressure both in, and out of, the office, and the importance of having an exercise routine that actually fits around your life and career. Yoga is perfect for this. You don't need a partner and you can train whenever you can. Chet’s mission is to help you reach your most supple and healthy as this ultimately leads to happiness. As well as improving fitness, you will learn about the history and philosophy of the ancient art of yoga, and develop practical ways to deal with the stresses of daily life

Jr Training Services (Scotland)

Paisley

Leading building and construction specialist, The JR Group, has launched a new scaffold inspection service as part of its new training services division. The service will provide a thorough seven-day scaffolding inspection in accordance with the Working at Height Regulations, 2005. The launch from the firm, which has more than 25 years of expertise in the field, meets massive demand from the sector, offering a fully compliant service to comply with SG4. As well as mandatory weekly scaffold inspections, the team will also provide one off inspections, independent scaffold inspections, Anchor Tie Pull Out Testing, PASMA aluminium tower inspections, advanced design structure inspections and incident and accident investigations. Expert advice on access solutions will also be on offer. All audits and inspection reports will provide detailed information regarding remedial works required within an appropriate timescale, complete with photographs. Ronnie Charters, HSEQ Manager for JR Scaffold will be leading with the new inspection service. He has more 30 years’ experience within the scaffold industry and is the current regional chair for Scotland / Northern Ireland for NASC. As the NCC / CITB access instructor / safety advisor for all National Construction colleges throughout the UK, Ronnie has been carrying out safety site audits and scaffolding weekly inspections for various clients throughout the UK and abroad for more than 20 years. Ronnie Charters, HSEQ Manager, said: “We are very excited to be able to offer this invaluable service to the industry considering the current high demand, and at the same time satisfying the shortage of accredited, competent personnel available to carry out this type of work. “The demand for this type of service is massive as there is a conflict of interest once a company erects a structure and carries out its own scaffold inspections. Introducing an impartial company to carry out audits and inspections provides peace of mind for all involved. “By using a service like this, it will ensure that all scaffold structures meet appropriate safety standards before first use, and they will be inspected at intervals of no more than the seven days until it is dismantled. It will inspect structures after extreme weather conditions, high winds or any other events likely to affect its strength or stability, as well as after any substantial additions or alterations or after any unauthorised or third-party interference. “We look forward to rolling this service out, providing much-needed support to the sector.” The JR Group employs around 200 staff and was founded in Govan in 1995. It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland. The business operates throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients.

OUR STORY Our Story Macarons & More is the passion project of one man: Tim Kinnaird. Tim originally trained as a doctor and worked as a consultant paediatrician in Norwich. Although he loved his job, his passion for food was a thread that ran throughout his life – and when he was given the opportunity to explore it further, everything changed. As a contestant on MasterChef 2010, Tim caught the nation’s attention with his gentle manner and showstopping desserts. On his journey to the final, he cooked at Michelin-starred restaurants and even served a banquet for the Maharajah of Rajasthan. “Tim has the gift of making sweet things incredibly delicious - and his macarons are to die for.” JOHN TORODE The experience inspired Tim to leave his job in February 2010 and start a business from his kitchen. MasterChef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace had spotted his ability for creating exquisite patisseries, and so did the public. Within six months, the business outgrew Tim’s house. #TeamMacaron was formed to cope with the growing demand and quickly grew to a nine-person operation once production moved to a kitchen in Watton, Norfolk. Expanding the team has brought in a whole range of additional skills and personalities. Macarons & More has been growing ever since. In 2011 we launched online, meaning we could deliver our delights throughout the UK. Then in March 2013, our beautiful shop opened in Norwich’s Royal Arcade. By 2014, it was getting tricky to meet demand both in the shop and from our wholesale and online customers. Don’t get us wrong; it was a very nice problem to have! With the support of our fantastic sponsors, including Belling, Magimix and Kenwood, we opened our new central Norwich bakery in January 2015. Now, we can cook up even more treats than ever. Our bakery is also where we run the very popular Macarons & More Cookery School. Led by Tim and the Macarons & More team, our classes are informal and hands-on, helping keen amateur bakers learn new techniques and recipes in a fun environment. In September 2018, we opened a second shop in Norwich’s busiest shopping mall: intu Chapelfield. As well as the support of our amazing customers, Macarons & More has received local and national acclaim. We won the Beautiful Baking category in the EDP Food and Drink Awards in 2013, and we were runners up in the Observer Food Monthly Awards in the Independent Retailer category in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Tim’s passion and dedication has built a wonderful independent business at the heart of Norfolk. Why not try one of our macarons and find out what it’s all about.
