History and Information : Dhaka Residential Model College was established in 1960 by Pakistani President Ayyub Khan, in an area of about 60 acre beside Mirpur Road near Sher-e-Bangla Nagor in Dhaka. In 1962, the administration of DRMC was assumed by the provincial government of then East Pakistan. In 1965, the government converted the institution into an autonomous body, and its administration was relegated to a board of governors with the Chief Secretary as its chairman. In 1967, the government again took control of the school. At that time, a new board of governors was constituted with the Education Secretary as its chairman. The initial purpose of establishing DRMC was to provide education for elite army officers and high ranking government officials in East Pakistan. The school, and later the college, were modeled after public schools in the United Kingdom (according to the British Public Schools Act 1868), particularly Eton College. The house system was designed to resemble Eton's. After the independence of Bangladesh, a board of governors was appointed with the Education Secretary as its chairman. Since its inception, the school has been funded through government grants and fees from students. The Board of Governors has been empowered to “frame rules as it deems necessary for the proper functioning of the school”. The school began with only one study session, known as the Morning shift which operates from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. In March 1993, another session is known as the Day shift was added, according to the education expansion policy of the government, to cope with the growing number of students. The day shift session operates from 1:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Measures were taken to build a gymnasium, park, swimming pool, auditorium, mosque, administrative building, and residences for the principal, vice-principal, and school staff. The school opened in eleventh and twelfth grades in 1967. In 1978, another dormitory named Lalon Shah House was built for students in grades 11–12. In 2008, a four-storied house named Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah was built for students of the day shift.

Our Faculty members are thought-leaders in their fields, all grappling with contemporary legal challenges. Through a number of research groups, staff and postgraduate research students collaborate in research projects, the organisation of conferences and the publication of academic papers. Each year, we welcome a number of visiting academics to conduct research in Trinity. The School publishes one of Ireland's leading peer-reviewed journals, the Dublin University Law Journal, and engages in interdisciplinary scholarship through its membership of the Trinity Long Room Hub and Trinity Research in Social Sciences. The School is home to the Irish Centre for European Law and the Irish Jurisprudence Society. Our undergraduate degree programmes are distinguished by research-based and research-led curricula, in which all subjects are taught by leading academics expert in those fields. Over four years, students become self-directed learners, mastering both the discipline of legal thought and the skills of critical analysis necessary for a reasoned appraisal of law's role in society. 175 students in each year study for degrees in law, law and business, law and French, law and German, and law and political science. Our vibrant taught masters programmes - with a majority of students from outside Ireland drawn from over 30 countries around the world - provide an opportunity for advanced legal study. In particular, they reflect Dublin's unique position as a centre of global trade and a technology hub. The Law School offers dynamic programmes of postgraduate legal research to over 50 Irish and international students. Many doctoral students provide teaching support to undergraduate students as they commence their own academic and professional legal careers. Need advice or information on a legal problem? Whether the problem is personal or business, one of our member firms should be able to assist. Today the Surrey Law Society is the sixth largest in England and Wales with a membership of around 1000 solicitors and is seen as the Surrey Lawyers’ voice. Surrey Law Society was formally incorporated in November 2001. It was a coming together of the three existing Surrey law societies in order to improve economy of administration and provide a far more effective voice for Surrey lawyers when talking both to the Law Society and other professional bodies. Previously the Mid Surrey Law Society had served members in the north of Surrey and London boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and parts of Merton, the name deriving from the days when Surrey was everything south of the Thames in Central London. The South East Surrey Law Society was based around Dorking and its environs and similarly the West Surrey Law Society comprised of members in or around Guildford. The amalgamation enabled us to reach parts of the County that the old societies did not reach and increased membership dramatically to its present level. It is now in the top ten local law societies throughout the country, when considering that these include the City of London, Manchester and Birmingham, the Surrey lawyers’ voice is now far more effectively heard in high places. The ‘map’ of the committee as at 27th Nov 2013 identifies the group that currently manages the Society. Originally the presidency rotated around the old three centres of activity but over the years the integration is such that we are now one big happy family, providing not only an effective CPD programme but representatives on just about every legal forum that can be found in the County and several others. One of the main aims of the Society is to get to know fellow lawyers through networking and social events as diverse as beer and skittles evenings, walking weekends, dinners and quizzes. Liaison regularly takes place not only with adjoining societies but also on a national level. Strong and permanent links have also been forged with the University of Law in Guildford itself and Kingston and Surrey Universities where we are happy to sponsor events to assist the students in various ways. We look forward to playing a full role in the legal world and promote the role of Surrey solicitors for a very long time to come.

We share the concerns raised by Arts Council England and the International Council of Museums (ICOM) about the risks faced by cultural professionals as well as the threats to cultural heritage because of this conflict and we send our support to all creative practitioners and cultural organisations and institutions affected. 5 June 2020: Stanley Picker Gallery and our partner venue Dorich House Museum recognise we must do more as cultural organisations to be actively anti-racist. We commit to taking immediate steps to implement a clear plan of action to address systemic racism at every level of our organisations, whilst actively seeking and welcoming critical engagement from diverse perspectives in this process. Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is one of the leading university galleries and commissioning venues in the UK, working with artists, designers, students, academics and members of the local community to encourage creativity, learning, research and innovation. Established in 1997 with the ongoing support of the Stanley Picker Trust, the Gallery forms part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and is a principal cultural interface between Kingston University and its civic communities in South-West London and beyond. From its island location on the Hogsmill River, our venue is a creative hub, a production site and a presentation space that functions as an “expanded studio” dedicated to commissioning and curating contemporary art and design practice, generating a dynamic programme of exhibitions, events and participation activities staged onsite, offsite and online. Rankings are important as they give an independent way of judging universities. However it is very important to understand that every ranking has its own criteria and some maybe aimed at UK students or undergraduate students so it is very important to understand what the rankings are for and who they are aimed at. Below is a variety of rankings and your UKEAS counselor will be able to guide you through the different rankings and which ones focus on the aspects which are most important to you. Remember rankings should just be one factor in selecting your chosen school and it also makes sense to pay just as much attention to course content, location, cost, type of university and student experience: Academically, school standards of teaching are very close at the top; a schools ranking one year does not necessarily mean that it will be in the top 100 by the time your son / daughter has competed their studies as the smallest differences in GCSE and A level or IB results can allow a school to move up or down several places. In addition, looking for a school that excels at art or music for example is a folly. All UK schools have to adhere to the national curriculum and the top schools will all have exceptionally capable teachers for all subjects as they can pay for the best. School curriculums are designed to give students a well rounded education and allow them to explore a host of interests that in turn will prepare them for specialist study at university in a specific subject. Finally, choosing a school on rankings is only one criterion and as much as possible it is best for students and parents to go and visit schools so that the student can determine the best fit school for them. Public (private) schools come in a wide range of guises from the small schools located in the countryside, to large schools in the middle of cities. WHAT IS THE HAZ? Blackpool’s Heritage Action Zone project is a partnership between Blackpool Council and Historic England. The project is aimed at using Blackpool’s heritage as a catalyst for bringing new and diverse uses to the town centre and giving a new relevance for both local communities and visitors alike. There are two different areas of focus in the project. FOCUS 1 The first is centred on historic buildings and how heritage can be used to improve the look and feel of the high street by restoring and enhancing historic buildings. This element builds on recent improvements in Topping Street, Edward Street and Deansgate in restoring buildings and their commercial frontages. The biggest focus of this part of the scheme is the Church Street Frontage of the Winter Gardens, where work to restore the Victorian commercial frontages to Empress Buildings has already begun. Other projects include the conversion of an Art Deco building on Topping Street to provide a community creative hub and converting part of the former Black’s building on Edward Street into live/work units where local artists and creatives can rent studio and retail space with living accommodation above. FOCUS 2 The second area is the implementation of a cultural programme and this is specifically to bring new activity to the high street and to engage local communities in creative activity. This programme is already working on delivering a regular market for local creatives and artists and setting up taster workshops for local people to try out different creative activities. Future work will look at performance, film and creative workshops as well as talks and tours focused on heritage and the past, present and future of Blackpool’s town centre. THE ZONE Blackpool’s High Street Heritage Action Zone is focused on a section of Church Street containing impressive groups of mid to late 19th Century public and commercial buildings and a wealth of incredibly diverse heritage assets some of which are of national and regional significance. The Grand Theatre and the Blackpool Winter Gardens and the areas around them form the main focus of this project. It also includes Cedar Square and parts of Edward Street, Topping Street and Deansgate. The historic built environment in Blackpool and in the identified HAZ area has been recognised as having significant economic benefits not just in terms of retail or visitor economy but through the potential to impact on the quality of life for local residents and the quality of experience for our visitors. The quality of the historic built environment within the proposed Blackpool HAZ promotes ‘civic pride’ acting as a reminder of how Blackpool has evolved historically.
