I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to take up the mantle of Headteacher at Tewkesbury School. When I first visited the school and the town back in 2021, I was struck by the community feel, the passion for the town and the dedication of the staff team for all the young people. I distinctly remember the pride with which the student guides spoke of the school and of their community and the ambition the team at Tewkesbury School had for every student. This will be my second Headship in the South West and my 20th year in education and I am excited to guide Tewkesbury School through its next phase. Headteachers are custodians of schools on behalf of young people and it will be my privilege to work with the whole community from governors, parents, students, colleagues and primary colleagues to other partners in the town, county and region to make sure Tewkesbury School is strong, effective and serving our children to the best of its ability. The greatest successes come from working together towards a common cause and there is no better cause than the education of the next generations. I am keenly ambitious about our future as a school so will continue the drive towards the highest standards academically and behaviourally whilst still ensuring we remain an inclusive school serving the Tewkesbury community. The educational landscape is shifting and changing at a national, regional and local level yet, despite that, there is nothing more important than making sure our young people are well prepared to step out into the world with confidence and understanding as a result of great teaching and a broad range of experiences. Everything I do will link back to preparing our young people to be successful in their next steps in life. The Guild is the national professional association for Blue and Green Badge Tourist Guides working throughout the British Isles, including the Isle of Man and Jersey. With around 800 full members and a network of regional and local associations with nearly 1,000 members holding group membership, the Guild represents around 1,800 guides. Its members offer guiding in 34 different languages. They are listed in the Guide Search facility. Since its foundation in 1950, the Guild has been dedicated to raising and maintaining the highest professional standards of its membership. The Blue and Green Badge is recognised internationally as the qualification of excellence in site and heritage interpretation, and in communication skills. It is awarded only following extensive training and vigorous examination. The Guild is run by an Executive Council, elected by the membership, and salaried office staff, and provides support and advice to its members on both policy and all issues covering guide services, sites, coach operators and health & safety. The members are kept up-to-date with weekly e-bulletins and regular newsletters packed with informative articles and updates on guiding-related issues; monthly diaries listing major events, opening times and admission prices; access to an extensive Continuing Professional Development programme. Guild members are covered under public liability insurance, which provides annual cover up to £5million. A copy of the policy is kept at Guild House and the office staff can assist with any enquiries you have as to extent of cover, which includes cover whilst on tour anywhere in the world. As a highly respected organisation within the tourism industry the Guild is without political bias. It acts as a pressure group and consultative body on all matters concerning guiding. Kokoro Karate is a traditional Shotokan karate school with a modern approach to practical applications. At Kokoro we take an holistic approach to our training, developing mind, body and spirit. Paul has over thirty years of experience, achieving his black belt in 1987 with Hanshi Shiro Asano 9th Dan, who was a direct student of Nakayama, the founder of the JKA. Paul has trained internationally with many world respected teachers in his karate career grading with the SKIF, SSKA and the Conroy Karate Group. We are governed by NAKMAS (National Association of Karate and Martial Arts Schools), the only martial arts body in Britain to hold a Government recognised British Standards Quality Kitemark (BS:EN ISO 9001:2015) via the British Standards Insitution (BSI) and is accredited to the Equality Standard: A Framework for Sport at Intermediate level. Paul is a senior instructor and examiner for the NAKMAS Governing Body and the club operates within the strict policies and guidelines laid down by them. Our dojo is at The Old Library Sports & Community Centre, Singleton Road, Splott, Cardiff, CF24 2ET Training is suitable for men, women and children aged ten/eleven years and over. We do allow children (primary school age) by prior agreement to train if a parent or guardian trains as well in the senior class, we also offer our Kokoro Tigers programme that is designed for children from 4/5 (school reception class) to 10/11 years old. Shotokan training is divided into three parts: kihon (basics), kata (forms or patterns of moves), and kumite (sparring). Techniques in kihon and kata are characterised by deep, long stances that provide stability, enable powerful movements, and strengthen the legs. Shotokan is regarded as a dynamic martial art as it develops anaerobic, powerful techniques as well as developing speed.

TechyTots was established at the beginning of 2017 in response to a gap in the market by mum of two Gemma Murray. Having family members working in this field and after researching the benefits of teaching children coding Gemma was keen to introduce her own children to coding and quickly realized there was nothing available in the early years to develop such skills. It was quickly apparent that there was high demand for TechyTots with lots of schools asking to run sessions and with family sessions being popular. In just over a year the level of supply and demand was so high for TechyTots, the opportunity for the business to grow was clear. TechyTots is now a national franchise providing classes from Tyneside to London. Now run by Gemma’s Cousin Julie Barber, TechyTots has gone from strength to strength. Julie has been a franchisees with TechyTots since 2018, and has a unique perspective as a business leader, she has faced the challenges of a franchisee and devolved a successful franchise with multiple classes running well in her area. Julie now has the opportunity to develop TechyTots and make sure more children are able to be part of TechyTots and learn important Coding skills. TechyTots is the first class in the uk to bring together technology and play to introduce children to coding. Our aim is to work on the first steps of coding with children at a young age to help prepare them for the technical world we now live in whilst making it fun. 'Coding' for those who do not already know is simply a set of instructions for a computer or device. At TechyTots we encourage children to develop early coding skills by using robots and the most advanced ‘Techy’ toys available. We also use unplugged play and activities which encourage problem solving skills, critical thinking, sequencing, early math skills and early programming, which are not only educational but lots of fun too!

I have been working with autistic children and teenagers for 20 years. I started my teaching career in Further Education, and have worked in the Supported Learning Department of 2 large Mainstream Colleges teaching Numeracy, Literacy, Life Skills, and Childcare. I also worked as the Life Skills Coordinator at a residential college for young people with severe physical disabilities. My passion has always been working with autistic young people - I believe that they have so much to offer, and yet the education system often fails them because staff do not have the right skills and experience. This is something I am passionate about changing! I am an experienced trainer and really enjoy training others. I have a degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Education (Autism) a PCGE in Life Long Learning and hold NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship). I am also a Surrey Autism Champion and have a NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Working with Students with ADHD and a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I am also trained to use 3Di diagnostic programming which enables me to carry out assessments for possible ASC and ADHD. Laura is an advisor to PDA North America and provides support, advice and training to families all over the world. Laura is also the founder of Healthy Happy Me! providing support to children to help them maintain happy bodies and healthy minds.
