These look at Mastery Readiness, Developing Teaching for Mastery, SKTM for TAs and ECTs in the primary phase, as well as Y5-8 continuity. As an associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, I work with student teachers at the very start of their careers in teaching as both an academic mentor and lecturer. I am a School Development Lead for ARK Curriculum Mathematics Mastery programme visiting schools to support them in their mastery journey. I deliver mathematics training for Teachers’ Courses and Resources (TCR) in Staffordshire, offering a range of CPD opportunities both face to face and remotely which allows me to work with teachers both in this country and beyond. I have a real passion for the teaching and learning of mathematics and have had a considerable involvement in teaching mathematics both as a teacher, subject leader and adviser over a long career. With over 35 years commercial experience in building running and managing businesses operating across International markets in many channels I found this course to be hugely beneficial. As someone famously said I was so impressed I bought the company. Whether it is long commercial or legal documents, the endless trail of emails that flood our phones and computers more and more precious time is being taken up reading. Bu understanding both the mechanical and psychological elements that go into “smart reading” we can help you increase both the speed at which you read and also retain more of the understanding of what you have read. These courses have been proven over 30 years and thousands of satisfied customers (many in the public sector) and now more than ever before do we need to be able to read effectively. At our latest course in Durham the group on the course averaged more than a doubling of the speed at which they could read by the end of the day – oh and to add to that the understanding of what they had read also increased significantly — a real win – win. Just imagine what you could do with the time you would save each week ! Meet the Team From start up’s through to multi national organisation Tim’s expertise and commercial acumen has helped deliver profitable growth across many differing businesses. Dedicated to helping people get the most out of every opportunity in their work life balance. I always see opportunity and get great satisfaction in seeing people grow and develop their skills through the various training and development courses. Outside of work most Saturdays sees me involved in Rugby in some way shape or form (coaching / managing) and even still pull on the boots on the odd occasion, best rugby memory was playing in a game where both my sons were playing.

TISKA Karate Lincoln

About the chief instructor Gursharan Sahota was born in Kenya, East Africa but moved to the UK at the age of 12. He took up Karate at the age of 14 in the local Bedford club and was awarded black belt 1st dan (shodan) four years later. Now an 8th Dan, Gursharan has competed in a multitude of kata and kumite events, many at national and international level. But the most significant event in his career was the visit he made in 1984 to Japan. There, he fulfilled a great ambition by training in a Japanese dojo under the instruction of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa. This experience proved to be a turning point for Gursharan. On his return to England, he realised the trip had been the inspiration he needed to dedicate his future to training and teaching karate as a way of life. Gursharan’s first club was opened in Luton/Dunstable in 1981 and this is now the association’s hombu (HQ). Having been a teacher of the art for many years, he formed his own association in 1993 – TISKA (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association) which is now one of the biggest associations in the UK. Gursharan’s love of karate has never diminished. He still teaches over 35 classes a week in the UK and regularly takes master classes internationally. All in all, he has brought hundreds of students of all ages up to black belt standard and beyond. He is also involved in charity work, helping to subsidise trips for surgeons to third world countries to operate on underprivileged children. He has, for many years, funded many projects in India, and is at present helping to fund the building of a new school.
