creative resilience international

I am passionate about resilience and helping people understand how important resilience is in our lives. I studied with some of the leading international experts working to promote resilience. For the last 5 years I have been actively promoting resilience with individuals, families, organisations and communities. I had spent many years working in the field of positive psychology and therapy and it was here in Barcelona that I discovered the world of resilience and was lucky enough to attend the first post graduate course in the Promotion of Resilience at the University of Barcelona. This allowed me to meet and learn from leading figures in Resilience work in Europe and Latin America and the most generous teachers. I also studied a postgraduate diploma in mental health and migration. Moving around can bring opportunity but also challenges. I have lived in many countries and met a lot of diverse and truly inspiring people in different cultures and languages. Living an international life can feel like an amazing adventure but also comes with its challenges and I have worked with many individuals and families over the years helping them to find their feet again. Life experience, literature, music and films have always fed my resilience work but I have been studying and researching along the way to back up my instincts with analysis and ideas based on theory and practice. Welcome to Zumba® Fitness Cheadle Hulme and Poynton, fun classes to learn Zumba®, meet new people, lose weight, get fit, tone up and all whilst having a great time! I have danced all my life, qualifying to teach Ballet, Tap and Modern with the N.A.T.D. However, through traveling, I never got the opportunity to settle down and set up my own dance studio. Nevertheless, I always found a local dance class and joined in. As time passed, sadly I have found there are less dance classes available for adults. Then I joined Anne Hill's Zumba® Fitness class and found a dance based exercise I loved! I enjoyed it so much, the music, the easy to follow steps (and with the encouragement of Anne), I decided to join the ZIN™ party and now I am B1, Pro Skills and Zumba® Gold qualified instructor. ZIN™. Further qualifications in the pipeline. I run 5 classes a week: 3 (at The Methodist Church, Ramillies Avenue, Cheadle Hulme) Tuesdays Zumba® Fitness at 10:00am and 6:15pm and Thursdays (Zumba Gold®) mornings at 10:00am. 1 class (Civic Hall, Park Lane, Poynton) Tuesdays (Zumba Gold®) at 11:30am 1 class (the Hockley Centre, 307 Park Road, Poynton) Wednesdays (Zumba Gold®) at 10:00am. Due to the Pandemic Booking are currently required. All age groups are welcome, classes give a great workout and are fun & friendly.

ECA has always been a place of experimentation and collaboration, celebrated for enabling students from different disciplines to work alongside and with each other, and for creating strong linkages with other institutions. We trace our history back to the Trustees’ Academy founded in the 1760s which, over the course of the next century, operated from some of the most iconic buildings in the city, including the University’s Old College and what is now the Royal Scottish Academy. The first Professorship in an ECA subject area was created for Music in 1839 in the name of John Reid, with the Watson Gordon Chair of Fine Art founded some forty years later, the first of its kind in the British Isles and a turning point in the teaching of the History of Art. Following the establishment of the Reid Concert series in 1841, which continues to this day, the Reid Concert Hall was built in 1859. We’ve been known as Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) since 1906, following a major reorganisation of higher art education in Scotland. At the time, we were governed by the city Council and divided into four Schools: Drawing and Painting, Design and Crafts, Architecture, and Sculpture. We moved into what is still our Main Building in 1909, when the first of our annual Revel parties took place and, by 1913, our Cast Collection had been installed in the Sculpture Court.

Rainford High School opened in 1940 to serve Rainford and the surrounding area. The school has been fortunate to have had a rebuild under the Building Schools for the Future that was opened fully in September 2013. The new building provides an inspiring and modern learning environment for the students and the teachers to focus on learning. The school site has state of the art facilities for Science, Design and Technology and ICT. The new learning environment for Art, Music and Drama will enable our students to produce work of an even higher standard and produce performances the school can celebrate with its community. Facilities such as the immersive space and the “show and tell” area allow teaching and learning to be delivered in a creative, engaging and imaginative way. Flexible teaching spaces are allowing the school to develop an engaging and challenging approach towards teaching and learning. The new canteen and extensive quad allow for an exciting new learning environment that all students can benefit from whilst in lessons or on their own time. Rainford High School is a school for the 21st Century. The school is building on its considerable strengths to become the best school it can possibly be for the young people and the community it serves. Sun Bear Yoga has a key focus on making yoga fun and accessible to all. In this funny old time we believe it's super important to take extra care of our kids and their families' emotional and physical health. Sun Bear Yoga combines yoga, play, fun, dance, drama, music, acro, storytelling, relaxation and mindfulness to nurture positive wellbeing and encourage community support and socialisation (team work- yay). Why is yoga good for kids? It improves concentration and co-ordination, develops body awareness, calms the racing mind and boosts self-esteem and inner confidence. Our mission is to create a space for some much needed time out, fun without distraction, giggles and to provide the opportunity for an emotional reset. We want to give kids and their families the tools to cope better with the daily stressors that come with modern family life. We believe in equality, inclusivity, tolerance, compassion and respect and these values form the foundations of our classes. All of our classes are completely secular and there will be no focus on religion. EVERYONE is welcome. We believe in spreading love and happiness to all. Kindness is our superpower! We offer classes for children 0-16y during term time and we run family yoga events out of term time. Right now our classes go up to 12y but as of September they will be available for 13-16y and we will also have dedicated classes for children with certain additional needs in Autumn 2021.

In response to the social, psychological and financial needs of the increased number of Iranian and Farsi speaking people in Greater London, the CNG wants to offer a range of services including Lunch Club, Film Club, Healthy Lifestyle for Older People, IT Course, ESOL class, one-to-one advice, Health Awareness Workshops, Exercise sessions, Social Outing. READ MORE Entertainment & Leisure After years of working with the elderly, we have the necessary experience and are aware of their needs. CNG has decided to organise Lunch Club to entertain the elderly with traditional Iranian music and board games allowing them to interact with many others. We also supply them with Iranian cuisine. READ MORE Education For CNG the education of our youth and future generation is very important. CNG has a supplementary school where it focuses on teaching Farsi. The students are able to attend the extra-curriculum activities which take place after Farsi lesson. This includes Maths & English to enrich and support the students also Art, Crafts & Dance. READ MORE Support Due to covid-19 pandemic there has been a huge demand among the elderly, disabled and low-income clients for living essentials. CNG has been able to hand out food and supplies to many people. These people were not able to leave their homes for months due to the fright of COVID-19 and we believed it was our duty to help them.

I am a mixed media textile artist based in Southsea. I have an interest in exploring narrative through textiles, using mixed media collage to create fabric books, art quilts and collections of themed illustrations. I am also interested in journaling and telling personal stories through collections of memories, data and photographs. My background is a combination of art and design practices - I studied Illustration at Kingston University before becoming a secondary school textiles teacher. I combine the two disciplines to create fabric artwork with an illustrative quality and narrative. For example I often use song lyrics and quotations as starting points, and text features in most of my artwork. Whilst studying illustration I specialised in creating whimsical collages from sketches and paper ephemera and I bring the same techniques to textiles, layering fabrics, stitch and embellishments to create mixed-media mini-quilts and fabric books. I love to work to a specific theme and take on long projects focusing on one topic. This might turn into a series of Illustrations (The World of Jane Austen), a fabric book (Into The Woods) or a single large piece built up over time (Lockdown Quilt). A lover of bright colours and bold prints, I draw inspiration from 1960s and 70s children’s books, psychedelic music posters and vintage textiles. I am very lucky to have a studio on the seafront in Old Portsmouth which is open to the public.
