Havana Salsa was established in the UK over 10 years ago to introduce the wonderful dance of Cuban Salsa into many lives. Not only the Cuban Salsa dance, but the Cuban culture, food, music and the Spanish language. We eat, live, breath Cuban Salsa! Cuban Salsa was derived from an earlier dance form known as ‘Son’ and other popular social dances as well as mambo and cha cha cha . The Cuban style developed into a very relaxed, passionate and expressive style where your personality gets to shine as much as your dance steps. It’s been danced since the 50’s and all started in Havana, the capital city of Cuba . Fun, passion and enjoyment are a major part of our Cuban Salsa classes and social events in Leicester, Nuneaton, Coventry, Derbyshire and Birmingham. Cuban Salsa is very much alive in the heart of the Midlands with Havana Salsa! Rodolfo and his wife Laura, and their team of trained instructors from across the globe have teamed up to bring the addictive Cuban Salsa to many people of all ages. With weekly Cuban Salsa classes in many cities across the midlands are fun and full of energetic content accompanied by great music and great people. Anybody can join the classes from absolute beginner’s right up to advance dancers. No partners are needed, just bring your enthusiasm to take on a beautiful dance. We have one passion… whether it is via one of our weekly Cuban Salsa classes across the Midlands , or our regular fiestas (social dance parties) and workshops; we hope to share that passion with you.

Oscott Academy is a registered independent school that supports the learning of students in Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11). Oscott Academy prides itself on its pastoral approach, fostering an environment where students can develop and be part of the Oscott Academy family. We support students with diagnoses of ASD, ADHD, ADD and anxiety, in addition to those who display symptoms of SEMH. We also support vulnerable students who have struggled to learn in a mainstream setting. The school has a high level of student support with a ration of 5:1 (student to staff ratio). Oscott Academy was opened in 2014 by Stewart Dance, an experienced practitioner with over a decades experience in educational settings. Born Jayne Elizabeth Fletcher, on the 30th November 1983 and grew up in Wolverhampton, Jayne was born 3 months premature; Deaf, with the doctors giving her only a small chance of survival. 38 years later this is her story… Jayne was born into a hearing family, who have no experience of deaf culture, identity or the language, they believed that Jayne would be fine and fit into normal hearing world and that she would get by . . . . Jayne struggled for years to battle mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, suicide attempts and self-harm, which she believes to be mainly due to communication issues, as so few people around her signed. Jayne spent a lot of educational years being denied access to courses that she had wanted to study such as music, due to her "disability". Her daily life incurred numerous barriers as there is very little access to information for people whose first language is BSL (British Sign Language). The impact of her announcing that she was gay, also resulted in her being bullied, not only for her deafness but also her sexuality.
