UK Latin Community will be hosting a Food and Fun Camp. We will deliver a programme focused on Arts and crafts, food and nutrition, multi-sports and well-being. Click here to find out more. godinton house & gardens

An ancient estate surrounded by magnificent parkland with beautifully restored house and gardens.Godinton is a remarkable country house, nestled in the heart of Kent. Dating back to the 14th century, the house today reflects the tastes of the last owner, Alan Wyndham Green: it is designed to feel comfortable and more informal than other properties – a house, rather than a museum, so that visitors can imagine what life might have been like here. Tours of the house are led by expert guides unravelling the 600 years of history and revealing an excellent country house collection of furniture, art, porcelain and curios. Enjoy delicious homemade cakes, cream teas and refreshments in the old Billiard Room. The famous yew hedge surrounds the formal gardens with the wild, Italian and walled gardens beyond, full of colour and interest through the seasons, maintained close to Blomfield’s original designs. I am self-taught ceramic sculptor. My passion for painting and sculpture began as a young child and is still my main obsession in life, a means of expression, my therapy, my greatest love. I add a quirky, sometimes humourus twist to my female forms and my animal sculptures. I work from my imagination preferring to avoid realism at all costs! My work is hand built useing coiling or slabbing techniques. After fireing my pieces are finished using crackle glaze, underglaze or stains which are wiped back to emphasise textures. I use grogged earthenware and stoneware handbuilding clay. I sometimes paint fantasy designs with acrylics and also teach in my home studio in Worcester. I am living my dream. My work has been exhibited in UK galleries including Guildford House, Birmingham, Bowes Museum, Gloucester, Wolverhampton, Worcester and many more. I also exhibit my sculptures at the annual Showborough House sculpture exhibition, Twyning, Tewkesbury. I have worked with different media over the years in the wedding industry making wacky bride and groom wedding sculptures. I was commissioned by the BBC to surprising chef Ainsley Harriott, with a caricature of himself on the TV show Ready, Steady, Cook. I have also discussed my huge, wacky sculptures on TV whilst exhibiting them in Bowes Museum, County Durham. A big thrill for me was being commissioned to create small sculptures to be photographed for the front cover of Vogue Italia. Another TV commission was lool a like clay figures for celebrities Matt and Emma Willis. I sculpted a large chocolate wedding centrepiece for actor/singer Gareth Gates.

giulia drummond

Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter, percussionist, poet and actress creating mystical atmospheres with her hauntingly beautiful voice and musical talent.    Her musical background is filled with charmed sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to celtic music, visiting buddhist and hindu mantras, hebrew, sephardic, gypsy music. By exploring different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian (different Italian dialects), Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino, Romani, Swedish…   In constant research for as many influences she can find, Giulia refers to her practice as Magical Music. Her gigs are more like musical rituals, in which her deep voice, accompanied by a shruti box and different kinds of drums are the magical instruments, and songs take the audience to many enchanted landscapes.  Giulia’s first album balão de poemagia (meaning something like poemagic balloon) was released in 2018.   Celebrated as a musician in Brazil through her teaching, monthly concerts of new music and theatre performances, Giulia moved to Scotland in 2019 where she quickly became known on the Scottish music scene in Edinburgh.  She regularly performs, collaborates and curates music sessions at the infamous Captains Bar in Edinburgh and Leith Folk Club, collaborates with Flamenco Nova and is a company musician of dance theatre company Slanjayvah Danza - performing traditional Scottish, Gaelic and Spanish music and song in their award winning show, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes.   In 2020 Giulia released her second album, vôo dos balões entre as brumas (balloons flying in the mists).     Prior to Giulia’s artistic career she worked as a psychologist in the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, an artistic sector within a big psychiatric complex called Instituto Municipal Nise da Silveira. The museum is dedicated specifically to the use of artistic expression as treatment in mental health.

angel community canalboat trust

Angel Community Canal Boat Trust or ACCT The Angel Boat is a charity which operates a skippered community canal boat for use by local residents and community groups at a cost they can afford.  Based in Islington, London N1 our trips can be from part day to 5 days with overnight stays on board, and can be arranged in partnership with the London Canal Museum.  Themes available include water, wildllife, history and environment with the benfits of team-working and learning to give and take instructions.   We can take up to 10 children and young people together with two adults in charge.  Also suitable for SEND young people. natural history collections, the university of edinburgh

Although most of the current exhibits are from the 1920s, the University has been amassing zoological specimens since 1692, when the first exhibits were displayed in Old College. The specimens are displayed within a taxonomic framework to illustrate the diversity of the animal kingdom. The highlight of the collections is the Aubrey Manning Gallery, named in honour of the Professor of Natural History from 1973 - 1997. Deborah grew up on a Lincolnshire farm surrounded by inspirational people and places. Training originally at Leeds Metropolitan University and Berkshire School of Art and Design, she has worked extensively as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. Her clients have included RHS, National Trust, Natural History Museum, Chatsworth House and Dunoon Mugs. Whilst developing a range of paint-by-numbers kits, an interest in making art accessible to those without specific training grew. This led to the creation of ‘Make a Masterpiece’, translating beautiful landscapes and wildlife designs into easy to achieve guided painting and craft events for adults and children. She currently lives and works in Reading as an Artist in Residence at a local school specialising in murals and running Art Clubs.

Established by the Christian Brothers, SPC has served the Auckland Catholic community since 1939. Centrally Located in Epsom, enrolling over 1200 boys. Landing in Shanghai, our St Peter’s group of 22 excitedly departed the plane. Quickly whisked through the labyrinth of Chinese customs, we were soon introduced to our local guide for the next two weeks, Lin. Our first point of call was the Shanghai Museum, which we swiftly explored every nook and cranny of. After our first proper Chinese lunch and a quick opportunity to have a shower at the hotel, we continued, this time to our Shanghai hosts at Fudan University. Our initial tests done quickly, we headed to dinner at the Fudan canteen, a three-story maze packed tighter than Auckland trains.

Gina-B Silkworks designs and produces a variety of craft kits, books, DVDs and other items with an emphasis on handwork & passementerie - decorative textile crafts. We also stock a range of tools & materials for these crafts. Gina also makes bespoke items to commission. "Traditional Crafts for the modern maker" About Gina - Gina Barrett has been making reconstructions of buttons, dress trimmings and other passementerie for museums and costumiers since 1999. Her work can be seen in a variety of museums, heritage sites & stately homes including the Royal Mews, the Royal Armouries, Historic Royal Palaces, The Victoria & Albert Museum, English Heritage, Chicago Museum of Art and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.  She provided buttons, ribbons and braid for an award-winning project at Perth Museum, and hundreds of buttons for the film “Sweeney Todd”. Her latest film work includes buttons for "Napoleon" and "Lee". She has created buttons & trimmings for various series including “The Crown”, “Becoming Elizabeth” , “A Stitch in Time”. She is the author of a number of books including Buttons, A Passementerie Workshop Manual, Dorset Ring Buttons, Thread Wrapped Buttons, Zwirnknopf Buttons and the Making Passementerie range of instructional DVDs. She appears on the Create & Craft channel with demonstrations of passementerie techniques, representing her company Gina-B Silkworks. Gina is the contributor for the Passementerie entry in the Encyclopaedia of Medieval Dress and Textiles of the British Isles c. 450-1450 (Brill). She has also co-authored Tak V Bowes Departed: A 15th Century Braiding Manual Examined and 6 booklets on medieval narrow wares, and regularly produces how-to articles for magazines, as well as papers and essays on other forms of passementerie. Gina has been involved in textile research projects with groups around the world, and is a founder member of Soper Lane, a group begun in 1999 to research the lives and work of the medieval London silkwomen.  Gina is a trained illustrator, with a background in historical and diagram illustration and graphic design. Her passion for textiles grew from studying historical costume for her illustrative work.
