The Perth Fitness Camp - Scotland

the perth fitness camp - scotland

The Perth Fitness Camp is an INCLUSIVE community, a lifestyle, a movement for over 30's men & women who no matter what your size, no matter what level of fitness you are at and no matter how big you feel the Perth Fitness Camp will keep you moving forwards toward a leaner, stronger healthier and fitter looking body. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT The Perth Fitness Camp are specialists in outdoor training and since 2009 we have helped over 30's men & women from Perth achieve results they thought were impossible. For many of my members that may mean training towards a specific event or to reveal those elusive abs. For the majority of my team it simply means getting a bit leaner, feeling fitter, stronger, having more energy and having the confidence to wear clothes that show off their bod as opposed to hiding it away. Why over 30's? As a dad in my 40's, a coach and former overweight guy....I get it!! The simple truth of the matter is that carefree days have been replaced by 24/7 responsibilities, marriage/relationships, a baby or two (or three), a mortgage and a boss who reminds you of all three. Maybe you'll agree.... Pringles and chocolate bars that once disappeared in a puff of metabolic smoke now linger like an oil spill. Get this >> did you know your physiological capacity - the overall performance of most of your body's systems decreases by around 1% per year from 30 onwards. Hence the pringle and chocolate hangover Muscle mass decreases by 3 - 5% each decade after your 30's So what can you do to safeguard this? You need to switch your focus to preventative fitness and follow a simple approach to nutrition that's sustainable for life and not just a faddy quick fix. Which is why I want to help you take back control just as I have using the very system that my clients use to stay leaner and fitter in their 30's, 40's and beyond.

Jane Hamilton Pilates

Edinburgh,

Over the last 12 years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed teaching Pilates to many people of all ages and abilities, and with varying muscle and joint problems, back issues and health conditions. I started my complementary healthcare training 19 years ago, qualifying in 2002 with a diploma from the London School of Sports Massage. I returned to my home city of Edinburgh that year, successfully building up a client base and running the complementary healthcare clinic Happy Being for 12 years in the west end, until 2020. Back in 2009, I decided to train as a Pilates teacher and qualified with a certificate in mat Pilates teaching Level 3 CYQ (Central YMCA Qualifications). This came from a desire to help my massage clients develop the tools to care for their own bodies rather than relying on regular massage treatments and doing their own exercises between sessions with varying results. The two disciplines successfully ran side by side, with many people coming to the clinic for both massage treatments and Pilates classes. In 2016 I developed my physiological and anatomical knowledge and practical skills further by achieving an advanced remedial massage diploma from the Scottish School of Sports Massage. I apply the knowledge I gained through this training to my Pilates teaching, drawing on a deeper understanding of the human body and how it works. I am constantly developing ideas, combining my vision with a structured modern approach. I’ve worked with many clients with varying levels of fitness and health conditions, from athletes to those with chronic fatigue syndrome CFS/ ME. I start with the 8 fundamental principles of the Pilates Method and the many Pilates movements to bring about new ideas. These are often from varying disciplines which I’ve studied and practised over the years such as Qigong, Tai Chi and even meditation with breath work. Many of the balance, warm-up stretches and cool-down movements in the classes are Qigong-based.

FlexSchool has had great success with remote students from Florida, Washington, California, West Virginia, United Arab Emirates, Bermuda, and Switzerland among other places! back next History FlexSchool started to save one twelve-year-old girl. Jane loved to learn what she wanted to learn, and spent hours engrossed in videos and web pages about animals. She could tell you about muscle cells and animal anatomy. She researched Native Americans and made all of the games and weapons used by the Lenni-Lenape out of found objects and craft supplies. She spent hours drawing and painting and could write fiction better than most college students. Yet, she loathed school. She rarely spoke in class, dropped out of the gifted and talented program, either didn’t do her homework or would forget to turn it in. She had As on the tests and Cs and Ds in the class. Jane’s academic future looked dismal. Poor grades and high test scores are not a winning combination for college admission. Her public school was not the right place for her, but neither were the local private schools. Academically-oriented private schools do not accept students with poor grades. Schools that accept students with poor grades are not always academically rigorous. Stalemate. Until we started FlexSchool. Jane spent six years at FlexSchool, learned to love learning again, graduated in 2020, and attends a well-known liberal arts college studying anthropology, linguistics, map-making, and art.

Body conditioning (strength exercises) is a great way of improving your cycling. Whatever the season and whatever the weather, you can always do some strength and conditioning training to help you improve your performance on your bike. Let’s take a look at different exercises that are great for cyclists. Menu – The exercises What do you need to do? Exercises with bodyweight Exercises with weights Final thoughts The exercises: Burpees: use the whole body and improve power Leg lifts: these target hip flexors as well as abdominal stabilizers that help smoothen your pedalling. Planks (and variations of them): these improve your core strength and thus make you more efficient on your bike. Lunges: These help with all of the major muscle groups in cycling including calves, hamstrings, quads and glutes. Weighted exercises: kettlebell swings, renegade rows, front squats and single-leg deadlifts are all really useful for improving body condition. What do you need to do? If you’re wanting to improve your cycling and aren’t already doing conditioning and strength exercises, this is a big thing you can do to see improvement. Since cycling uses only one leg at a time, it needs repeated forces and is largely an aerobic activity. Cyclists also need to have endurance and a strong core. Lots of activities address these requirements but there are some that, when combined, are ideal for cyclists and their bodies’ needs. The best thing to do in terms of strength training is to choose exercises that have a similar movement pattern to cycling both with the lower body and the upper body. It’s also important to increase muscular endurance and core strength. What you want from body conditioning is to have a strong support system for when you’re cycling. The stronger you are aerobically, the better chance you will have of staving off fatigue in races and you will have more power potential. The following exercises use dumbbells and kettlebells. If you’re unsure of weight, see what you can manage. If you are unable to complete the set number of reps, lower the weights.

Aikido is a modern defensive Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba, referred to by many as O’Sensei (Great Teacher). Its emphasis is placed on spherical movement to create dynamic and explosive techniques that render an attacker harmless. Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury. Move like a beam of light; fly like lightning, Strike like thunder, whirl in circles around a stable center. - Morihei Ueshiba Morihei Ueshiba MORIHEI UESHIBA, AIKIDO FOUNDER, 1883-1969 What is Aikido Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" or as "the way through spirit and harmony". It operates on the principle or tactic of blending with an attacker's movements for the purpose of controlling their actions with minimal effort. The Aikido practitioner does not rely on muscle strength but concentrates the power of the whole body onto the weak point of an opponent, forcing him/her to cooperate using his/her own force and momentum. This attribute defines Aikido's effectiveness and beauty as a martial art. Several approaches to Aikido have evolved over the years. Today Aikido is found all over the world in a number of styles, with broad ranges of interpretation and emphasis. However, the core essential principles of the martial art remain consistent. WHY PRACTISE AIKIDO? Aikido is more than simply an efficient method of self-defense. Traditionally, Aikido is a form of Budo – a “martial way”. Unlike other arts, Aikido technique can be applied at varying levels of severity, from the most gentle controlling techniques to the most severe countermeasures. Definition of Lipo Surgery Body sculpting is a cosmetic surgery procedure, and is a body reshaping technique that works by selectively removing subdermal fat. It is one of the most commonly requested aesthetic procedures in the United Kingdom. The body typically stores fat unevenly. In women, fat is likely to accumulate disproportionately around the hips and thighs, and in men around the abdomen. Liposculpture can be used to debulk, and balance fat distributions to achieve a more proportional and attractive silhouette. It can also be used to improve the definition of subdermal muscles. Other areas commonly treated include the neck, arms, tummy, flanks, back, loins, thighs, inner side of the knees and the ankles. In men, fatty deposits can also develop under the nipples and begin to look like breasts (gynaecomastia). Body sculpting, also referred to as liposculpture, liposuction, lipectomy, or colloquially simply as lipo, is rarely a medical necessity. However, some individuals can be adversely affected by the perceptions of others. This real cultural bias can have a cascade effect on professional success, as well as personal health and mental wellbeing. The success of a body sculpting procedure depends on provide both a safe medical result as well as a good aesthetic one. For this, it is important that patients select doctors who have both top medical credentials, as well as a history of verifiable cosmetic success. It is also essential that patients considering liposuction have realistic expectations, and understand what can be reasonably achieved. The best results will be achieved by patients in good health with reasonable skin elasticity (needed for retraction), and good underlying muscle tone. The goal of the British Association of Body Sculpting is to standardize and to develop best practices in liposculpture by building on the substantive joint experience of surgeons working in this field. The association has been established to agree and document best practices in pre-operative consultation and evaluation, medically safe and effective procedures in the operating theatre, and post-operative care. This website is intended to help patients, medical regulatory authorities, insurers, lawyers, and legislators to understand body sculpting, and to be the most authoritative source of information about best practices in the UK. It can also be used by patients to find and select surgeons who have demonstrated a minimum level of experience, as well as adherence to the best practices defined by this association’s efforts.
