Amala (formerly known as Sky School) was conceived in 2017, in response to the gap in quality education provision for displaced youth. Our name is inspired by the Arabic word for hope, which our education embodies. We believe that young refugees - as all people - have a right to quality education. Yet, fewer than one in three refugees are able to complete their secondary education and only 6% are able to access higher education. In 2016, Amala co-founders Mia and Polly were working on a prestigious scholarship; the programme admitted refugees to schools around the world to complete their upper secondary education. They found that for every scholarship place available, hundreds of promising applicants were turned away. Their subsequent research showed that there were few educational opportunities available for refugee youth aged 16-25, many of whom are forced to drop out of educational systems due to the barriers they face. The idea for Amala was born: to provide transformational learning programmes for displaced youth and their host communities to improve their lives today and open up opportunities for the future. Amala has two key programmes: The Amala High School Diploma, the first high school diploma designed for and with refugee youth, and Changemaker Courses in areas such as Peace-building, Ethical Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship. Amala’s curriculum has been developed with the support of our educational partner UWC South East Asia, one of the largest international schools in the world with an expertise in values-based curriculum development, and led by UWCSEA’s former Director of Teaching and Learning Stuart MacAlpine, in collaboration with refugee youth and 150 educators. Amala learning focuses on the development of learner agency as well as competencies that enable learners to make change in their lives and communities. Amala learning is delivered through a blended learning model and in light of Covid-19 many courses have been adapted to an online model. Amala programmes are delivered both directly by Amala and in collaboration with partners whose missions are aligned to our own. Through collaborating with partners we have been able to bring transformational education to refugees in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Our programmes aim to maximise profits, results, scalability and happiness, whilst minimising complexity, costs, headcount and stress. How we came to be The beginning It started in 2010 when Matt Hodkinson quit his job as an IT consultant. He had an itch to learn more about marketing, which coincided with the emergence of social media - where brands had just started using it to promote themselves. With that, Influence Agents was born. The growth As we scaled, and became a Platinum HubSpot Partner, Matt had become an expert of all sorts. This led to international clients, speaking gigs, and a healthy bottom line. The transition Over a decade went by and the agency was successful. Then, within a 3-week period, Matt was approached by 3 different agencies who wanted to acquire Influence Agents. It came at a time when Matt was already considering transitioning the agency into a high-level advisory one. The focus was on empowering clients to take ownership of their own growth, rather than being the done-for-you solution. At the opportune time, Matt sold the agency. Enter: Total Growth Ownership. The lesson Eager to get our hands dirty, and share what we do best, we dove head first into a group consultancy model. We onboarded our first few clients, and we were excited about the results they were getting. But as we scaled, client results took longer and longer to achieve. We soon realised that the only person group coaching serves... is the coach. The rebirth After a year of experimentation, we've now found what we believe is the perfect model, for both our clients, and us. Differentiate in a Day does exactly as it says on the tin - it's a programme that completely differentiates consultancies, in one day - a time frame our clients are more than able to commit to. We put a heavy focus on one-to-one support, because it gets our clients results, in the time frames needed. We believe so much in our solution, that we guarantee it.

Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC™) is an innovative and powerful coaching model based on Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI™). A ‘relationship system’ is any interdependent group of people, sharing a common identity or function. We are all part of many different systems. In our organisations, our teams, our families, our intimate relationships and the wider society. Everything is interconnected. If something changes in one area of a system, it will have effects in places that often we won’t expect. ORSC is a methodology that combines ‘systems thinking’ with coaching. By becoming an ORSC practitioner, you will become aware of your own impact on the bigger picture and be able to consciously design your relationships. You will learn an invaluable set of tools to coach others to do the same. The Five Modules of ORSC All ORSC journeys begin with either the Fundamentals or ORS@Work module. Both introductory courses are based on the same set of skills and principles. Fundamentals is geared more toward personal coaching, therapy, or social work applications. ORS@Work is designed specifically with HR, OD, LD, business coaching or consulting in mind. Fundamentals or ORS@Work— teaches five key ORSC tools, including how to coach the Third Entity. Intelligence— provides a robust toolkit for increasing emotional resilience in the face of change. Geography — explores how to recognise and nurture the structures of relationships. Path — explores how to create a shared vision and a strategic plan for achieving it. Systems Integration— brings all the pieces together and provides a learning space to hone skills to work towards mastery. The subsequent four courses in the series must be studied in sequential order, as content layers and builds with each module. On completion of the five modules, students may choose to pursue ORSC certification. Whatever work we do, we are always in relationship. Through ORSC training we learn the concepts, skills and tools to be more effective with others. A ‘relationship system’ is any interdependent group of people, sharing a common identity or function. Psychologists might refer to a ‘collective consciousness’. Business consultants might talk about a ‘corporate culture’. Therapists would likely address ‘family dynamics’. All are ways of referring to what we call the Third Entity.

Our story....When Sarah & Simon met in 2007, Sarah had just renovated her home and Simon had no idea what change of direction was coming his way! A few years on, after the birth of their son, they both recognised that they had more in common than just love!  Their passion for creatively ReUsing everyday items became fun and constant ReThinking anything from a shells to furniture to their most recent project an Upfurbished Lodge ReTreat in Suffolk. With Interior Design experience Sarah started to incorporate ReUsing in her schemes, recognising a “gem” that needed some ReLoving and clients started to offer her pieces to upcycle. Not long after she had her first furniture sale and commissions followed!  And so ReVamp Boutique was born! With basic carpentry skills from school Simon started to adapt some of the pieces under Sarah’s design eye and soon Simon took an interest in the upholstery side making this a formidable creative team. Sarah’s passion is to share some ReVamp secrets, and returning to her teaching experience she  gleaned at a local college, she now runs creative ReUse workshops which are not just sustainable but fun, sociable, excellent for your well being and the best gifts for family, friends and loved ones! The business has now undertaken many commissions, with Simon now an accomplished upholsterer and Sarah a furniture artist seen at Grand Designs and Westfield Stratford & London. The couple now have premises to run their workshops, take commissions and sell their statement furniture as well as their Retreat, the complete ReVamp experience, available for booking now.
