Penzance

BDC will arm dancers not just with top quality dance training and education from our passionate in-house team and world famous guest teachers, but through local and worldwide outreach, cultural experiences and charity work. Raising awareness of current issues through the medium of dance, we can ensure that our dancers are not just physically ready for a professional dance career but also fully equipped with values, life skills and hands-on experience that will prepare them for any career path they may choose. OUR CORE VALUES BE. KIND Nothing else will be tolerated! Our garden will be frequently weeded to ensure our precious flowers continue to bloom. Treat each other with love and respect. BE. AUTHENTIC Together we will trust and respect each other for who we are. We will walk the same path and read from the same page. BE. EQUAL We will all be given the same respect and love regardless of colour, age, size, gender, background or status. BE. TOGETHER To move forward we must all paddle in the same direction together and in harmony, or we will just go round in circles. BE. PATIENT In a world where we need everything NOW, before we speak or act, please take your time and think: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Breathe and trust us and our process, we are all on the same team. BE. GRATEFUL To our family, to our teachers, to our mentors, to our class mates and to our mistakes. Gratitude makes the world a better place, let us never forget this crucial ingredient to a happy life and successful career. BE. A GOOD ROLE MODEL Little ears and eyes are always learning from their big sisters and brothers, what lessons will you be teaching the next generation? BE. YOUR WORD Reliability and trust must be our foundations. Be your word. Trust that when we fall, we will be there to catch each other. BE. THE BEST VERSION OF YOU That is all we can ask of each other.

Llantrisant RCT

I set up my workshop in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art. In 1990 I established my studio in Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant. I work primarily in anodised aluminium producing one off and batch production jewellery. As the material is light and not too expensive I can make large, bold pieces which are both wearable and affordable. Most importantly, by anodising it, I can achieve bright and brilliant colour effects. My passions My three passions are colour, pattern and technique. I love making things and exploring the possibilities of different materials. Although I trained as a jeweller, my work has been heavily influenced by both traditional and contemporary textiles. Over the last twenty years I have also been developing work in felt. I combine this with my jewellery practice to create both functional pieces and work that is purely decorative. My creative ancestry inspires me Much of my recent work has evolved from looking back at my creative ancestry. It was my grandmothers who initiated my fascination with making objects. They passed on their traditional textile skills and started my passion for creating anything from colourful materials. In 2010, I received an Arts Council of Wales grant to help me purchase a laser cutter which enabled me to develop new work. I have used this to explore different materials such as taffeta, acrylic, cardboard and wood. This has opened up many exciting possibilities and I feel I have only just started this journey. I am involved in many craft groups and associations. I am regional co-ordinator and Chair of the International Feltmakers Association. I am a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, of the Association of Contemporary Jewellery and of MaP, a textile group. I have exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada.

The solution focused (SF) approach is compassionate, powerful, hopeful and effective. It works with people to achieve their hoped-for change. It places people as experts in their own their life's, whilst allowing them to build on their existing strengths and capabilities. It helps them to achieve their desired outcomes. The SF approach works with people to enable them to have a clear vision of how they want their life to be, how they would like things to be different. It's about noticing the presence of what's wanted, rather than the absence of what's not wanted. The SF approach also encourages people to notice what’s working already, about confirming that and building on it, and not about focusing on or analysing the problem. Developed in the 1980’s in Milwaukee, USA, the SF approach was developed as a model of therapy. However, it is now widely applied across, health, social care, and educational settings. The SF approach can be applied in any setting, whether it be an organisation, a community, a group, a family, parents, or individuals. One of SF’s keys strengths is its focus on simplicity, which makes it so accessible as well as applicable in so many settings. About Me As the founder of Solution Revolution, I am passionate in my belief that the solution focused approach can help anyone. I am a qualified Solution Focused (SF) Practitioner and social worker, and I've seen first hand how the SF technique can be used effectively with children, young people, and their families, to support positive change, no matter how difficult the situation. For children and young people, it can be applied at all levels of education, and it can enhance the education experience of every child and their teachers. As Solution Revolution, I am immensely proud to have worked with most of the primary and secondary schools across Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire. This work has ranged from hugely successful one-to-one work, group work, and staff training. Solution Revolution has a strong, working relationship with the Bath and North East Somerset Local Authority, and with the Schools Sport Partnership Board, who I collaborate with on a group work initiative called Active Solutions. This initiative brings SF and sport together and this is being delivered in primary schools across Bath. This project is continuing to grow, and the positive impact on the children involved has been celebrated by their schools. I am passionate about local community, and have recently expanded my group work with children and young people. Workshops now include drama and production, in collaboration with some notable local actors and DJs. I'm a huge advocate of youth involvement. Alongside organisations such as Boys in Mind, Girls Mind Too, and the UK Association for Solution Focused Practitioners, we are working together to ensure young people's voices are heard in schools and in the community. I am passionate about my work and the results the SF approach can bring about in people's lives. If you'd like to chat to me about this work, do get in touch!
