I started out in theater where I learned classical singing techniques. Ventured into writing my own music at the age of 14 and started my 1st band by the age of 15. From then to now I've worked with Rock, Country, Progressive, Acoustic, Heavy Metal and Blues bands. As well as musicals and show tunes. After high school I worked with my local community centre on opening and running our town's 1st music club, focusing on mentoring young bands and musicians. In my college years, while studying songwriting and music production in school I kept pursuing my vocal ambitions and began my work with more modern singing techniques and schools of thought such as SSL and CVT. After learning so much about the different aspect of voice production, new and old, popular and extreme, I decided it's time I ventured into teaching. Today I am a BAST graduate and a certified vocal coach. My hope is to enrich and guide as many like minded singers with the knowledge and experience I've accumulated over the years in a fun and exciting way! Singing is not only singing. At Fight for Peace young people make friends, get fit, and develop their interests, skills, and confidence. Our aim is to ensure young people achieve their full potential in life, and we welcome any young person from our communities aged 7-25 years old. We embrace the power of sport for the life lessons it teaches, such as resilience and discipline, as well as improved health and wellbeing. And we combine this with one-to-one mentoring conversations with qualified youth workers, personal development sessions, and education and employability support. Young leaders also shape our services, being part of staff recruitment and strategy development, producing communications, and progressing to employed roles as ‘Next Gen’ staff. We support around 500 young people per year at our Academy in east London and, in order to reach as many young people as possible, we train and work with like minded community partners across the UK and the world - something we call the Fight for Peace Alliance. We also coordinate Collectives in east London and Jamaica to bring together diverse partners from across communities in support of young people. Our mission is simple: use the very best ideas, people and practices to become a national leader in bringing opportunities for young people. Or, as we like to call it, Good Growth. We celebrate diversity in every sense, from neurodiversity to gender to race and stand to give everyone the tools they need to pursue their passions. Good Growth drives the work we do and is the value we share with all of the businesses we collaborate with. Our vision is to see east London’s young people thrive and businesses grow thanks to the work that we do together.  Situated right in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the space is part of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC)’s plan to make sure businesses are tapping into local talent. The LLDC teamed up with A New Direction who run the Hub and bring this initiative to life for both young people and employers.  Young people can take advantage of the paid opportunities we publicise, the support we give for freelancers and start-ups, and industry connections we help foster through mentoring and networking, as well as sector specific careers advice and coaching. At the Good Growth Hub, all internship opportunities pay at least the London Living Wage of £11.95 per hour – but we strive for higher.  For businesses, the Good Growth Hub is an excellent resource to establish good working standards and to become more inclusive. Employers are able to both nurture and draw from a talent pipeline that’s eager to show what they can do. We’re always on the lookout for like-minded businesses to partner with us as mentors, speakers and advisors.  So, whether you’re a business, a young person or just someone who shares our passion for Good Growth, we’d love to have you involved.

. I joined the team this year and had no idea where to start. After coming along to your webinar and attending mentoring sessions, I was able to get insightful steers and practical next steps. I have benefitted from your guidance and advice on the need to involve the whole team, assess our needs, document the exploration (including outcomes from demos and meetings with suppliers to stay on track) and ask for further demos and trials (especially where team members missed sessions).
