Carers Count is a not for profit organisation that supports unpaid carers within Kirklees. We are managed by and operate under the Cloverleaf Advocacy umbrella and work closely with a wide range of professional health and care services, Kirklees Council, charities and community groups to provide support for unpaid carers. Carers Count works with carers who are aged 18 and over and give their time to someone with a physical disability, long-term illness, an older person, a child with additional needs, a learning disability and/or a mental health issue (including dementia). We are also able to provide assistance to someone even after they cease caring for whatever reason. Our dedicated team is on hand to offer advice, information, advocacy, support groups and activities for unpaid carers across Kirklees. We are experts in our fields and cover everything related to an unpaid carers role from benefits advice, raising awareness for carers, meditation sessions and wellbeing support, to understanding your rights as a carer. Everyone in the Carers Count team is hugely committed to supporting carers in whichever ways we can and it's our mission to raise awareness of carer issues - working in partnership with carers and on their behalf when they feel their voice is not being heard. LADS aims to provide a proactive approach to tackling social issues, mental health & wellbeing alongside practical interventions for men and boys of all ages. The LADS project is a long-term initiative for West Yorkshire, set up with Men and Boys at its heart with a focus on ethnic minority communities including faith communities, marginalised communities, intersectionality, socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Our focus is on Intervention and prevention. The project is a co-production and co-design model of service delivery. LADS aims to work in partnership and have a coordinated approach to service design. We will build on these partnerships and collaborate to ensure the services we provide continually meets our clients’ needs. We will develop Prevention and Intervention programs that fit with the communities we serve. We will do this by involving the community through our member’s groups alongside community cohesion work. We aim to work with and alongside mens groups and women’s groups to end VAWG and VAM&B’s, ensuring we support men from diverse Muslim communities and ethnic minority backgrounds to ensure the wider vision of ending VAM&B and VAWG is reachable.

Basis Yorkshire was set up (as Genesis Leeds) in 1989 by a few volunteers, supporting sexworkers in Leeds. In 1997, a young person’s service was established to accommodate the specific needs of girls and young women who were being sexually exploited. In 2018, Basis Boys was established to accommodate boys and young men that are being exploited, sexually or otherwise. The charity also provides high quality training and awareness raising sessions locally and nationally on social justice issues and practice development. POSITION STATEMENT – WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO Basis supports indoor and street sex workers who identify as women, and young people who are sexually exploited. Our purpose is to empower people to make safer and healthier choices by offering information, support and options. Our work is driven by a sound evidence base, as well as working closely with women and young people to ensure our services are designed and delivered with them, putting their voices and experience at the centre of our work. We challenge stigma and inequality of access to services for everyone we work with. We are proud to be one of a small number of specialist organisations that explicitly recognise and advocate for women’s right to work more safely when selling sex, while also supporting young people who are sexually exploited to be safer and free from harm. We understand that for some women and young people, their ‘choices’ are severely constrained by a range of factors including physical and mental health, substance use, family circumstances and abusive relationships, as we support them in managing the risks and vulnerabilities they face. We recognise people’s dignity and agency in their decision-making.

Lighthouse Futures Trust is an innovative and forward-looking organisation with a mission of changing the lives of young adults. We do this by designing and delivering engaging employability programmes that include opportunities to work with a range of local employers via a supported internship. Our curriculum focuses on two areas – Liveability and Employability – and is aimed at students aged 18+ with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). We start by getting to know each of our interns so that we can understand their skills, experiences and aspirations for the future. We then devise a bespoke programme for them which combines a range of different elements including: working on-site at a range of local employers; 1 to 1 coaching & mentoring; group work; support in gaining qualifications in Maths and English; participating in an enterprise project where they learn to create and launch a new product and service. Our talented students have a range of support needs. Some have mild to moderate learning disabilities, others are on the autistic spectrum or have social, emotional or mental health support needs. They join the programme because they want to move into paid employment and showcase their many skills and talents and just need some extra support in order for them to fulfil their potential. Our role – and our passion – is to help unlock their talents and shine a light on their abilities. From the beginning of their journey with us, we support or students to develop skills so that they can forge their own pathways in work, accessing specialist support as and when they need it, but taking ownership of their future, from the start. We believe that this helps them to find and keep paid employment more easily, and thus create a more sustainable future.

It is a huge pleasure and privilege to welcome you to West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC). We are a community special school, under the organisation of Leeds City Council. We have 242 learners on roll. The SILC welcomes learners who are aged between 2-19 years with an EHCP which is generic in classification. I am extremely proud to lead a school that caters for a wide range of Special Educational Needs in a truly bespoke and individual manner. Our pupils have varying needs such as CMLN (Complex and Multiple Learning Needs), moderate or severe learning difficulties, social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) or autism. Everything we do at West SILC is based around the individual and their needs, offering them specific environments at one of our 5 sites is key to being inclusive and individual. Our pupils grow in all aspects of their lives through their time spent with us and leave us as more confident, independent and happy young people ready to access the next stage of their lives. The relationships our staff have with our pupils and their families is at the core of all the work we do, we recognise that the work we do is not solely based in the classroom or at school and it is a lifelong learning journey we are support our young people on. The school has a governing body which supports and challenges the Principal to guide the future direction of the school. West SILC is a regional centre of excellence for the MOVE programme, which supports our learners with physical disabilities to develop functional skills for everyday life – sitting, standing and for some, even walking. We provide outreach to other schools to develop these programmes.

My name is Lucy and I run LSB Learning, an online tutoring company offering 1:1 quality lessons in maths for all ages. I am a fully qualified teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. I have a degree in Early Years education with qualified teacher status and in the past have worked as a full time primary school teacher. I also have taught secondary school students specialising in children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and I excel teaching children with social anxiety as my approach to learning is to be patient, take my time with concepts and not rush. I have a soft and understanding persona and my sessions are very much student led. I offer online tutoring sessions only. Currently, I am offering 1:1 maths sessions from Primary to GCSE level. I specialise in the Home Tutor market and have availability during the day. I specialise in Maths and have taught maths from primary up to GCSE Level. I also have experience in maths functional skills and am willing to teach maths skills to adults who want to develop their skills in this area to help with college and university admissions or simply to brush up on your skills. My approach to tutoring is engaging and hands-on. I am very passionate about maths which shows through my teaching. I am skilled in teaching different ages and abilities and as a result, I am well trained in adapting my sessions to meet the different needs of each and every student.
