That’s why, for more than fifty years, we have been the leader in treating people with mental health disorders, substance use challenges, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Every day, we work with children and adults across Bexar County to provide counseling, resources, and the support they need to make life better. Whether it’s people struggling with addiction, or providing support and therapy to people with mental health conditions and/or other intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Center is committed to changing lives, restoring families and producing healthier communities one person at a time. We know that treatment works and recovery is possible. Our skilled and compassionate team helps people find the solutions they need to live independent, productive lives. At CHCS, we are trauma-informed, person-centered care. CHCS is committed to clinical excellence and proud to be a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) delivering integrated care to children, adults and families emphasizing recovery, trauma-informed care, and person and family centered treatment. CHCS firmly believes that this new model of improved and expanded access to care will have a positive impact on the lives of the consumers we serve and their loved ones. Trauma stemming as far back as childhood is a near universal experience for people living with mental health challenges and substance use disorders. By addressing this trauma through Trauma Informed Care (TIC), CHCS is improving the quality and impact of services, and enhancing consumer engagement by ensuring environments and services are both welcoming and engaging for consumers and staff. If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health condition or substance use challenge, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! The Center for Health Care Services can help.
