Our vision here at ‘Soma’ is to offer a tranquil, community driven and inclusive wellness hub for those wishing to pursue health, happiness and soul searching. Through yoga, dance, movement, meditation and alternative therapies we hope to provide a sanctuary that can be shared and enjoyed by the local community of Otley and beyond. SOMA has long existed in our minds – it just took a lot of meetings, creative vision and shopping trips until we were able to finally create our little studio. We had one main intention – to build a studio that could impact the lives of those living around us. We wanted to create a space whereby people feel warmth as they enter, a space for people to unwind over a post-yoga coffee, a space for children to explore their worlds through learning and movement, and finally a space away from home whereby people could seek that much needed physical and emotional restoration!

We were praying in January concerning new things. God had me praying about pastoring again on Jan 14th, 2020. I said to HIM in prayer, “Father if you really want us to pastor again, have someone call today offering FREE SPACE to hold church at on Sundays! Oh, and they must have the chairs and tables that we need for special fellowship times.” A lady called less than an hour later, she said, “Pastor Melody, we don’t know if you have been thinking about Pastoring again but my husband and I feel we are to offer one of our commercial buildings to you to use for FREE….NO RENT, NO UTILITIES CHARGED….JUST FREE use of the space for SUNDAY MEETINGS. Oh and we have lots of nice black chairs and tables for fellowship meals. Is that something you would be interested in?” I about fell out of my chair! Of course I answered…

Our U3A is made up of men and women who are not in full time employment and who meet together to study a wide range of subjects. Our meetings take place in the old Hampstead Town Hall, on Monday to Friday during term time. We currently have about 180 classes on offer, all of which are run by members. We are all volunteers: no-one who works in our U3A in any capacity is paid. We are not a university which awards degrees, but a group of people learning from each other. Many of our tutors are highly qualified and others have no qualifications at all. You don’t need qulaifications to join and you will not be given any: we study for the pleasure of learning. The leaders of our groups are called ‘co-ordinators’ because we see learning as a co-operative process. Like other U3As we are autonomous and make our own rules and regulations. We receive no government or local authority grant and are entirely self-financing.

Our regular coffee mornings and evening meetings are informal and relaxed. We often invite guest speakers from education, health and early years to talk to parents about local SEND services and answer their questions. Even if a particular guest speaker does not interest you, there is always time for a chat and a hot drink at every meeting. Children are also welcome to attend. There is no pressure to come regularly or even stay for the whole session as we know that your free time can be limited and unpredictable. Events We run workshops and training events for parents on a wide range of SEND-related issues. As well as gaining expertise and insight, you will be supported by other parent carer trainers who may have lived through the stage of your ‘journey’ and who will have knowledge and information to share with you that could be really beneficial. We also organise information days which give parents, carers and young people the chance to meet local services and providers. Partnership working We work closely with Brent Council, health providers, schools and other organisations to help design and deliver local services that meet the needs of children and young people with SEND. We regularly attend their meetings and committees to feedback the views and experiences of our members. Parent carers can help to highlight problems that are frequently experienced by families of children with additional needs, and this knowledge is useful to help professionals make informed choices about local services. Evidence shows that this sort of active participation leads to improved service provision, take up and ultimately better outcomes for children and young people with SEND. WHO WE ARE The forum is an independent, parent-led organisation that helps bring together parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Brent. We help and support families of children with SEND by providing information, advice and a listening ear. By gathering ideas and feedback from our members, we also work closely with local organisations to positively improve the planning and delivery of services in Brent for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities. Set up in 2017, our forum is run by a friendly group of volunteers who are all parent carers and understand the issues and challenges that looking after a child with SEND can bring.

Cacao Sita came in being after travelling to Peru and Guatemala to experience the profound healing effects of Plant Medicine. My journey with Cacao had started some years before, back in the UK, sourcing Cacao from a local Cacao Shaman, going to ceremonies in London and holding my own ceremonies at home. In this way I got to know and experience Cacao in my own time and slowly developed my relationship with her. Our journey together continued to grow and as my Yoga teaching started to expand into Europe I soon became initiated into holding Cacao Ceremonies. Our first ceremony was a Cacao and Kirtan fundraiser to help with the environmental disaster that was unfolding in the Amazon in the summer of 2019. As always with these potent plant medicines, the unfolding and synchronistic meetings that occurred from this ceremony opened my path to the powerful grandmother medicine of Ayahuasca, who then, in tern led me to Peru to sit with my teacher and explore this sacred path further. What happened in the Peruvian Amazon will stay with me for a life time and the unfolding from this journey is still very much in process.

The Fellowship of the Maple Leaf (FML) exists to promote links between the Church in Canada and the United Kingdom by furthering mutual learning in our engagement with each others’ cultures. To achieve this, grants of two kinds are awarded: Individual travel grants for study and cross-cultural experiences. These are available to Canadian church-people visiting the UK and church-people from the UK visiting Canada. They may be for extended placements lasting three months or more, or for short term placements lasting less than three months. Grants for church projects, mainly in Canada. For example: Projects for the development of ministry. Projects in the fields of Christian education and training, social responsibility, cross-cultural communication, and pastoral work. Projects related to the indigenous people of the ‘First Nations’ in ‘Assisted Dioceses’ in Canada. Partnerships between UK and Canadian dioceses, Theological Education Institutions, and church agencies. The Trustees meet twice a year in April/May and October, to transact the business of FML and approve grant allocations. Applications for grants may be made at any time; arrangements are in place for allocating grants in the periods between Trustees’ meetings where this is appropriate.

WCCM in the UK is a national community of the World Community for Christian Meditation, a global spiritual community united in the practice of meditation in the Christian tradition. It shares the fruits of this practice widely and inclusively, serving the unity of all and building understanding between faiths and cultures. Community members of WCCM worldwide are those who follow the WCCM Mission Statement: To communicate and nurture meditation as passed on through the teaching of John Main in the Christian tradition in the spirit of serving the unity of all. In practical terms this means that the community offers opportunities for people to learn about meditation, helps them to deepen their practice over the years and encourages them to provide opportunities for others to do the same – not only though local group meetings but also through sharing meditation more widely in such spheres as prisons, schools and the marginalised in our society, as a few examples. At a local level, the UK community is widespread and many followers meet on a regular, mostly weekly, basis to meditate together in churches, halls and homes. These groups help to nurture and support a growing practice of meditation. Structurally, groups are ordered into regions to facilitate communication, local contact and the organisation of regional activities such as quiet days and retreats. As well as meeting in physical groups, the community facilitates on-line meditation and providing the opportunity to meditate with others at most times of the day and night across the globe. You can search for online groups here. At a national level there are essential teaching weekends and silent retreats as well as an annual conference for sharing and deepening the practice. The UK charity is run almost exclusively by volunteers. The organisation of WCCM in the UK is through a registered charity with a Board of Trustees and a National Council comprising principally the Regional and Special Interest Coordinators and guided by a National Coordinator. The day-to-day facilitation of the community is managed through a body called the Action Group, chaired by the National Coordinator, along with a very small office team. The Pembrokeshire WI is a very active and dynamic WI Federation with 51 WI groups and over 1100 members. Our WI groups span the whole of the county's geography - from Saundersfoot, in the South, to St Dogmaels, in the North and the Preseli Hills, to the East. Wherever you live, in Pembrokeshire, there will (without doubt!) be a WI that you can join, just down the road from you! Many of our members also like to join several Wis – it just makes 'getting to know new friends' even better and, of course, means getting involved in so many and varied activities! The Pembrokeshire Federation was formed in 1921 - therefore, in 2021 we will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary. At the moment, our Federation and all of our WIs are busy planning for 'our Big Year'! In addition, in 2021, we will be hosting the NFWI Wales Conference, in April, 2021. The meetings, across our county, are all so varied – we are so lucky to have so many different groups – those that meet in the daytime, those that meet in the evening. We also have a great variety of groups with a big mix of ages as well as some that are slightly younger versus those that are slightly older. Whoever you are and whatever you like to do, you can guarantee that you will find a WI that suits you! We own our own House in the county town of Haverfordwest (WI house) which is open to members on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 3pm – all our members are welcome to pop in and have a catch up and chat with a Board Of Trustee member – between those hours there is always someone there to welcome you! We use this house for meetings as well as hiring it out for the local community to use for day schools, educational course and seminars. We are fortunate to have a variety of sub-committees which organise the events both within Pembrokeshire and beyond – these include Sports & Leisure, Home Crafts, Membership & Community & Environment. We publish a monthly newsletter, which keeps WI members informed of all future events and enables groups to share information, across the county, too! Quite simply, Pembrokeshire, with all its beautiful landscapes and gentle pace of life, is blessed with having a WI Federation that is so friendly, dynamic and so welcoming no matter who you are, what your age or what your beliefs are – give it a try, you'll just find so many friends along the way!

Welcome to the home page of the Temple of Thelema and College of Thelema, a California Non-Profit Religious organization. Temple of Thelema is a true Outer Order of the Greater Mysteries, providing ceremonial initiation; structured training; and regular group work, all in conformity with the principles of The Book of the Law. An investment of time, effort, and commitment is expected from each member. Each is expected to aspire fervently to the Great Work; to dare, with courage undaunted, to perfect that Work; and ever to apply his or her best effort to effect Harmony within the Order, and within the world in general. Each of our locations holds at least 2 monthly private meetings for initiates of the order, supplemented with classes and other instruction online. Additionally each body holds Public Rites open to all. Founded in service to the A∴A∴, the College of Thelema seeks to guide the student to an understanding of the Law of Thelema. Most especially, this means a deeper understanding of oneself and of one's True Will. A combination of instruction techniques is employed, including seminars, written texts, and individual work. For over twenty years, the College of Thelema published the journals In the Continuum (1973-1996) and Black Pearl (1997-2003), maintaining high standards in Thelemic education.
