The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) was founded in 1965 by Wilfred Clark (1898 – 1981), who had been practising yoga during his service in the army in the First World War. In his civilian life, Wilfred became a journalist editing a newspaper in Sutton Coldfield. He began teaching yoga and it was this work that culminated in the founding of the Wheel. The organisation began life as The Wheel of British Yoga but this was changed in 1969 to The Western Yoga Federation, which was registered as a charity in 1973. The name was changed to The British Wheel of Yoga in 1974. During his latter years, Wilfred devoted himself to spreading the yoga message, travelling the country to present at meetings and seminars. Wilfred died in 1981 having attended many BWY Congresses. A bursary has been set up in his honour to be awarded to BWY teachers developing the teaching to support students with special needs. For more information on the bursary, click here. The first National Congress took place in Birmingham in 1967, expanding to a national two-day residential event in Walsall in 1976. The Annual Congress, or BWY Sangha as it is now called, continues today, providing the opportunity for members to meet, exchange ideas and develop their practice.

Hello and welcome to Newcastle Beekeepers’ Association Honey Bees are fascinating insects and as a group we seek to understand them better and to support their wellbeing. We are a welcoming group who’s common interest is all aspects of local beekeeping. Our Association covers approximately a 20 mile radius from Newcastle into North and South Tyneside, Gateshead and the southern and eastern ends of Northumberland. We are affiliated to the National British Beekeepers Association, which provides significant benefits including: valuable public liability insurance cover, a monthly magazine and access to education and training. We have a year round meeting schedule with talks, beekeeping demonstrations and practical apiary training sessions during the summer months. Our members come of all ages and walks of life, with new members always especially welcome. The Survey Association, known generally as TSA, is the trade body for commercial survey companies in the UK. The association was formed in 1979 to give a focus for private sector businesses in land and hydrographic survey. It is important to realise, however, that it is not a regulatory body. The role of TSA is to promote best practice amongst its members, provide a forum for members for discussion, debate and continuing professional development and, to the wider audience such as engineers and architects, provide guidance on new methods and techniques and a list of suitably qualified and experienced companies. Today, the association has over 200 companies in membership as full, associate, supplier, affiliate or academic members directly involved in the geospatial profession. TSA is also involved in lobbying Government departments when appropriate and other agencies such as the Environment Agency regarding policies likely to affect or involve the survey profession. TSA meets regularly with RICS and CICES on a range of issues and has established a group called the SLG, or Survey Liaison Group. This body convenes at regular intervals to examine matters of mutual interest and to ensure that there is little or no duplication of effort by the three bodies. Representatives from the Geospatial Commission also regularly join SLG meetings. How to Ride Training DART staff provides small group training to help individuals learn to ride the bus in Greater Des Moines. Training will demonstrate how to plan a trip, read maps and schedules, recognize bus stops, pay fares, practice rider safety and more. How to Ride Training sessions are free and open to the public.
